  1. So it’s ok to incite violence from the left towards the right. These people are unhinged but somehow we are the loons???

The 83-year-old Sanders has been holding packed rallies in swing states, aiming to harness discontent and anger over President Donald Trump and his administration’s aggressive moves to fire federal employees, cancel congressionally approved spending, and shutter entire agencies.

The Colorado event is scheduled to take place at 5 p.m. on March 21 at Denver’s Civic Center Park in downtown Denver, with doors set to open at 4 p.m. Sanders’ campaign urged participants to sign up in advance and added that bags, signs and firearms aren’t allowed.

Greeting an overflowing crowd outside a packed gymnasium at a suburban Detroit high school on a recent tour stop, Sanders told supporters that the massive turnout told him that “the people of this country will not allow us to move toward oligarchy,” The Associated Press reported.

“They will not allow Trump to take us into authoritarianism,” Sanders said. “We’re prepared to fight. And we’re going to win

  2. It was fun to see the gas prices in various places. Ours has been 2.99 locally. If we drive sixty-five or so miles we can sometimes save at Sam’s Club. That only pays if we are going to be near there.

  3. $3.80 US for a US gallon in southern Ontario

Walz and Sanders are both touring targeting US House Republican district where the representative is not hosting town halls or meet and greets. Its healthy for a democracy for have different viewpoints presented and available. If Trump can hold rallies throughout Biden’s presidency, I’m sure its okay for Walz and Sanders to hold rallies.

  4. it is interesting that some feel the word fight is the same no matter who uses the word and in what context it is being used. It’s not all equal. I see some using the word as in stand firm in opposing anarchy and violence. While some are quite unhinged inciting violent behavior, attacking businesses owned by some they hate, burning down cities, attacking those with opposing views, stalking and harassing a young family trying to enjoy the day just because the Dad is VP. Yes, J6 was awful but there were many on the other side complicit in the situation whether some believe it or not. And no..Trump did not incite the happenings of that day….

Maxine Waters is clearly inciting violent behavior. AOC has done as much. Now the old geezer Sanders is shaking his fist in the air…so it goes…

  5. I started reading (re-reading probably) Teddy White’s “Making of the President 1964” last night (Goldwater – Johnson, coming on the heels of the JFK assassination that had left the nation in shock).

No particular reason I’m reading it, but his books (I think I’ve read them all but it was ages ago) were such fascinating looks behind the scenes of US electoral – party politics, how campaigns were formed and conducted, the issues and decisions that sidelined a candidate and pushed another candidate forward. Good primers on the political world and craft in the U.S.

  6. @10:06: Seems the further toward the extreme ends of both parties or political sides one goes, the more “fight” could be seen as a hint about or unspoken call to violence (though those are the extremes which exist on both ends of the political spectrum).

But the word itself does not (in the political sense) imply that necessarily. More commonly it is used “political action” as in a call to resist or oppose (within the political process) what is happening.

  7. ps – Much of it is in the “ears” of the hearers and how volatile those individuals or groups happen to be (in either of the extremist political camps).

  8. Agreed that not all uses and contexts of the word “fight” are equal. How did Sanders’s use of it, or what else did he say, to make it inciting violence?
