  1. Way too late at night.

Those blossoms are a feast for my eyes.

I agree with Jo about the taxing of SS. We visited the tax guy today and I was absolutely shocked how much the Feds take of SS. Our tax man retired 17 yrs. ago but has worked the season every year since. Probably with his former clients? He said he thinks he really will retire this year. He is 78. Nice to have a job you can do well into old age. People who make laws sometimes forget not all jobs are in that category.

  2. When Art retires, I believe he will keep some clients. He is 77 now. 78 is a good age to retire, but the former lady owner worked to age 90. Sad to say that she had to keep a shield/pad in her desk chair in case of leaks. She was one determined crusty old lady with a sharp mind and tongue though her body was giving way to what becomes of us all over time.

  3. You all keep reminding me. It’s tax time, isn’t it?

Abby’s friend from next door, the black lab mix Nico (short for Nicodemus), visited for a few hours this afternoon in the backyard — he invites himself, hops/climbs over the (6 ft. tall) fence to get in and out of our yard. Because it had been raining, the playdate resulted in two very muddy dogs. They wrestled, chased each other round and round, harassed a squirrel and (Nico) found a bag of microfiber towels on the patio to chew on and “sign” with his muddy dog prints.

Then he jumped/climbed back over the fence to go back home, leaving Abby rather sad.

  4. DJ, for some reason that makes me happy for Abby and Nico to have such a play time. (Although bath time would NOT be fun)

We added Kat to our ensemble a couple of weeks ago. She’s a sweet 3 year old small standard poodle. She has the same energy as Kootenay for playing outside even though she’s 43 pounds and he’s 120 pounds. They run and chase each other and then sit side by side and survey their domain.

  5. Yes, it’s a joy to watch dogs play. And Abby needed someone.

These two were fairly rough with each other the first few times, I had to referee … but today they seemed much more relaxed. They ran and chased each other, but without the hard body-slams and extreme rough housing from before, so I think they’re adjusting and becoming good friends, learning how to play “nice.”

Kat sounds sweet and a small standard poodle would be a good size. Glad they’re getting long well (and the size difference is working out) – and that they have a nice “domain” to survey. 🙂

  6. That makes me laugh, DJ, to think of that dog climbing the fence for a playdate. Quite a solution for both of them.

I’ve had three days in a row of meetings with deaconness meeting today. Tough to do for me on the same week as the time change.

Tuesday I happened to look at the wrong clock until I realized that was the one I hadn’t changed. whoops, had to leave in 15 minutes and it was a bit of a scramble.

Trying to work on my attitude this week. On Sunday I had a cold but had told someone I would give her a ride after a special choir practice. I waited outside for 2 1/2 hours. She didn’t see me at church so was trying to find a way home I was where I said I would be.

Then doing taxes, oh my, I supposed it is possible that itemizing might have helped, but I didn’t even try. Just keep it simple and then quit your whining.

In a month we are having the service for our pastors mom. She was like the mom of the church as he grew up here. I am one of two in charge of the reception. Then today I took on a reception that is three weeks later. Another sweet lady, both died unexpectedly, but with time to sing goodbye

    Life just got busier.

  7. My church is doing new Bible studies for the women and they are excellent. It is Explorer’s Bible Study. ebshome.org

It is based on the bsf model but they are all new studies. So an intro, then daily questions, then written notes. Our new women’s leader has been a bsf teaching leader and she gives a short lecture. So good and I’m learning a lot.

The studies on different books and themes are anywhere from 4 weeks to 30 weeks.
