  2. I haven’t been on here for a bit. We’re in Calgary helping my sister & BIL with transitioning dad into long term care. Oh, this is so hard.

    I went to see dad today and he was trying to escape “this place”. “No one does anything for him there, etc, etc”. He asked if I had a credit card so that he could check out and go home.

    I prayed with him and I read Psalm 23 and the last half of Isaiah 40 for him.

    We would love prayer that God would take him Home. He is ready to go. And that we will be able to help him through this – he remembers nothing short term so thinks everyone has abandoned him.

  5. Praying, too, Kare. That is such a difficult time for you and your dad. Prayers that those around him treat him well and with love. It helps if someone in the family can come often. Praying he will settle in and accept this most difficult time of life soon.

  7. Very sorry to hear this, Kare. Your heart breaks every time.

    On another, adjacent note, I met a video several years ago of me, today, telling myself in the future that I needed to trust the kids.

    They love me/us and I/you raised them well.

    They’ll take care of you and you need to do what they tell you.

    They all laughed when I sent them copies, but after we went through with my dad/their grandfather, they understood–but hope they’ll never need to use it on me.
