  1. So….

I was supposed to see the Dr to have my drain and staples removed. Instead he called an hour ago and said I needed to go to the emergency ward as my ct scan from a week ago showed a possible pulmonary embolism on my lung. So now I’m here waiting with about 50 others, and really annoyed that it took them a week to inform me of this. Prayers would once again be appreciated.

  2. Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. My dad enjoyed a five lap walk on the deck despite the cold wind.

Complaint: free little libraries. The cute idea of sharing books among friends and strangers. Sounds all wonderful but one person’s treasure is another person’s trash. Most of the unhealthy books I have found in my children’s rooms have come from free libraries. Sad. I suggested when they are downsizing books (only done on demand when I deem their rooms are too full), they put the unhealthy books in the trash and the good ones they no longer have room for in the free library. They know which are the unhealthy ones. Those are the ones they hide because the books make them uncomfortable.

  3. Good afternoon. We are on our vacation so I won’t be around as much as usual. The ‘goat’ was in a yard a few streets from our street. I wrote a haiku about it reminding me of a scapegoat since I saw it right before Christmas.

Lifting AJ in prayer. That was a really long time they took, AJ, in letting you know of a serious threat to life.

  4. So yeah, looks like an embolism. Still waiting for the second CT scan, 5 hours and counting. The Dr said medication (blood thinners) for a few months can fix it in most cases. No word yet on if they’re keeping me.

    Janice,

Yes the week delay has me really annoyed.

  5. Ok, so the CT scan is done. Small clots in both lungs. Gonna keep me overnight and start me on blood thinners.

Once again I feel like they dropped the ball. I was getting blood thinners in the hospital. They talked about sending me home with Lovanox shots to self administer like my first time around. But then they didn’t, and prescribed nothing. Now 2 weeks later here we are.

The delay in informing me of the first CT scan results has me pretty upset too. I get it was a holiday week, but it seems irresponsible to let that go for an entire week, and then have the Dr call and say I urgently need to get to the ER.

I’m so frustrated as things were progressing well, and now 2 steps back again.

  6. I suspect many of the little community ones are set up thinking folks will share their interests, not considering that all interests are not necessarily uplifting. And my children have no impulse control. I could lock them up but they do need to be in but not of. Right now they are still willing to be of. A risk I take.

  7. AJ that sounds like a couple major slip-ups medically to me. 😦 I’m so sorry this is happening, is there any update? Will check FB again as well.

Continuing to pray that all will be stabilized and you will be (or already are) home and healing from this latest hiccup.

  8. We’re on a half-day schedule (to 2 p.m.) and I’ve turned in 2 of 3 things expected from me. Waiting to hear from someone so I can get the third piece turned in.

After that, I’ll be dismantling (most of) the front porch – but plan to leave a few strands of white lights on the door wreath (which is more winter-y, not overly “Christmas” and maybe some blue lights near the front porch as winter lights for an easier come-down from the the holidays as January trudges on in its dreariness.

(Not my favorite month or time of the year.)

It’s been cool and foggy — so cold, wet air — here. Tomorrow is the big ocean plunge on New Year’s Day. I won’t be there lol. But I did write about it and we’ll take photos.

  9. Somebody to whom I am married, thought it great fun to give me a large Lego set for Christmas. And, because he knows I don’t use the puzzle picture to put together a puzzle, he removed the set from the box and wrapped the pieces in their bags. So I got 1460 Lego pieces with no picture and no instructions.

  10. So they did an ultrasound of the heart to make sure it wasn’t damaged or stressed. Everything looks good they tell me. Blood work looks fine. Script was called in but pharmacy closes at 5 and is closed tomorrow, but not discharged yet. Thankfully my friend Frank went and got it for me and took it to my house. The holdup at this point is whether or not they will remove my staples and drain. They’re waiting on the OK from the surgery team and then I can go either after removal, or if they say no, they want to do it in their office. I just graduated from the visiting nurse, and now I have a new referral to bring them back. Sigh.

Cheryl is obviously not happy with them dropping the ball yet again, and has been letting them know. 🤯

She is my advocate here and speaks her mind. I love her for that even though sometimes it makes me squirm. 😏

  11. Don’t have an emergency on a holiday.

Neighbors just headed off to ER, she fell the other day when her wheelchair slipped out behind her as she was putting potatoes in the oven; but she seemed ok. Now a kidney is hurting, I’m thinking it probably was bruised with the fall.

I’m guessing ER is already pretty crowded, but probably not as crowded as it will be tomorrow after the big night. Our piece of LA explodes with fireworks and other loudness that make you wonder ‘what was that?’

The aftermath probably all winds up in the ER — and in the already-overflowing animal shelters.

  12. I got a 1000 piece Lego set also. I never look at the picture while working a puzzle, but the kids didn’t put that together with Lego.

    It’s 10 cacti.

“You can put one in all the window sills in your house!”

    Prickly that willl be.

We gave our adult Legomaniac a 3000 piece Los Angeles class submarine.

His whole family was helping him build it yesterday!

His father volunteered to come over for inspection . . . LOL

  13. He did say the pic and instructions were available on request so yesterday I decided I had time. It is the telephone booth and lamppost. He said because I have always thought it would be cool to have a lamppost in my forest, he thought I needed it. I have never put a LEGO set together so it has been fun. My children and son out law did all my three d puzzles last year so I am holding on to this one so I can savor it for several days. I have needed to enlist seventeen’s help for stickers and odd instructions.

  14. Mumsee,

    Telephone booth….. or tardis?

Is it bigger on the inside than looks possible?

    —–

I’m now home. The staples are out, but the drain remains for now. 😔

Very tired, but much more comfortable.

    Thanks for praying.

  15. Thankful you got home, AJ, to start the New Year in the right place.

I have been out walking so much with Son that I zonked out early last night. I awakened at a quarter ’til midnight, got up, and watched the ball drop in NYC with Art. Then we watched some of the Coast to Coast programing to see what was happening in other cities.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR, Y’ALL!

  16. Yes, Happy New Year to all!

Thankful that you are home, AJ. As Dorothy said, “There is no place like home!” I do not know how anyone sleeps in a hospital. It seemed whenever I was there that I was always being examined, poked or prodded, seeing too much light and hearing too much activity. I have always been a light sleeper, however. Praying for a far better year for you and Cheryl, AJ!

  17. Trying to put together a Lego set without a pattern is like putting together a building without using the blueprint. Lots of early homes were done without blueprints before they were made available, but why would we do it now?

I actually see no reason not to view the picture for a puzzle either. What is your reasoning for that, mumsee? Just curious.

  18. It makes the “fun” last longer? For me, it would make the “frustration” last longer. But then again, with poor vision, I’d be putting it together by feel.

For a real challenge, lol, put it together blindfolded! Or use the back side of the puzzle pieces to put it together using shapes alone.

  19. There are puzzles that are more challenging than others as it is. Then there are the puzzle races that some people engage in. Of course, you need more than one to really do it evenly.

  20. Thirty eight year old son suggested TARDIS as well, said it was from Dr. Who but generally blue. I had never heard of it.

Kathaleena, as older brother said, the challenge. I have been given many interesting challenges. One puzzle was totally clear with straight pieces in the middle. I have not yet conquered it. One was a wavy gold puzzle, gold on both sides, with very oddly cut pieces. Neither of those had pictures. Also my mom and grandparents did not use pictures so tradition feeds in. When people stop by and want to help, I do allow the pictures. Kind of like doing crosswords in ink. I do it because that is what I learned but also because I cannot see pencil but can see pen.

  21. I believe they use the pictures at puzzle races. To me that is more color by number than puzzle. But I do my puzzles slowly as Janice said, to extend the fun.
