  1. Merry Christmas to all! I love to listen to Handel’s Messiah during this season. What a gift to make such music! Imagine how great the musicians and choir sounded at a time of no radio, tv etc. It must have felt like a small piece of heaven.

  2. Wonderful news, Michelle. How did you change the way you prayed for them?

Our church was filled with an extended family who do not regularly attend. We know several having gone to the Christian school with them, plus then public school and various other places. One related family lives next door to the church and was very involved for years. A grandmother has her name inscribed on the advent wreath holder, so the church holds historical value for them. It was fun to have a short visit with them and to see the church filled again. I believe our pastor was startled to see so many. He was thrilled.

I am enjoying the Skylight frame my children gifted to me last year. They have all added pictures from our recent holiday gathering. I haven’t even done that yet. It is difficult for me to see the photos on the phone and eliminate and choose. I will get to it, however.

I copy/pasted this from the 12/17 thread. Michelle had a comment on it that it refers to.

  3. Merry Christmas! Beautiful music. Wonderful candlelight service last night. Love you AJ, even when we disagree.

And love all of you – hope it’s a lovely day in every way.

  4. Merry Christmas!

My husband has had the flu for a week (and with a compromised immune system, he takes a long time to get over things); yesterday he said let’s open gifts whenever he feels strong enough to do so, so we did the last of our “Christmas” yesterday. (Kids and grandkids came in November, and we did Thanksgiving on Friday and Christmas on Saturday.) He was feeling better in the afternoon than he has in a while, and I got to talk to one of my brothers (and a different one this morning; I’ll try to reach the others this afternoon).

My mother-in-law took a fall this morning and hit her head, but she has been checked out and she’s OK, much to our relief. She is on blood thinners and that just isn’t a good combination!

  5. Good morning, all, and merry Christmas. Twenty three son is here, fixing turkey and things. Twenty three daughter may be here about two for an hour. Hopefully on good behavior. My dad is enjoying the day as are we all.

  6. Merry Christmas to all! Love you guys!
Niece and her family came for Christmas dinner. They’ve left now and the kitchen is straightened. Tomorrow oldest son comes to stay for a few days with the grandkids. God is good, and I am so thankful.

  7. I agree with the President elect’s statement except for “we are all a child of God.” No, we are not. All are created in the image of God and deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, but only those who accept the Son is a child of God. It seems a small point, but it is those small points that can make a world of difference as it is built upon.

  8. Merry Christmas to all! It’s been a nonstop day. We transported food up to my brother’s home (where my parents lived). We had our meal and then opened gifts. Back home now, we are trying on clothes and deciding what to keep and what to return. Putting the new things in the washer. Now to clean the kitchen and heat leftovers for dinner/supper. So much left to deal with so it will be another late night getting things in better order.

My brother was recently in an auto accident so he is still in pain but has no major injuries. I think he has been humbled. Previously he had insisted on doing the turkey. After the accident he was thankful we were bringing the turkey.

Last night we watched Baylor University music department televise, for the first time, their Christmas concert. It was superb. Son wondered, if by chance, he had taught any of those students.

  9. I enjoyed the message from Trump. Those who don’t know much about Christianity can be misled by the “child of God” statement, but I don’t feel there was any intentionality to mislead. I think it is one of those things that less mature Christians say from misunderstanding or less in depth knowledge of the faith.

  10. ¡Feliz Navidad!

We had a quiet day at home. We celebrated with the children Saturday so D1’s family could have the day with the other grandparents.

Well, we weren’t home all day. The boss gave me permission to go to the non-touristy cave to explore with Mrs. L. We got a little muddy crawling around but had a good time together.

  11. I forgot to add: I watched the 1984 version of A Christmas Carol with George C. Scott as Scrooge tonight. It’s a version I hadn’t seen before. One of the better ones, too.

  12. Good late morning. Early morning found me at the eye doctor’s office for a checkup. Thankful son could take me. All is about the same with my eyes. I met my new doctor. He seems nice.

My eyes are still dilated. I decided to stay in my darkened bedroom for an hour or so to give my eyes a break.

Miss Bosley curled up in my lap. I had a cup of tea in my hand waiting for it to cool. Then I dozed off until I discovered the cup had tipped slightly and spilled a little in my lap and on Miss Bosley.

  13. Good morning, all. Another beautiful day here. Today is fourth child’s thirty eighth birthday. Had a short chat with him on the phone yesterday. He is a German born baby. One could bring home a cuckoo clock or a baby, we got the baby.

Husband is off to Boise, to return a dog and visit his brother and sister.
