It’s bad enough that Dems are constantly seeking to proclaim that Pres. Trump is an “existential threat” and causing “the end of democracy,” but it’s the non-elected bureaucratic agencies (FBI, CIA, etc.), which now operate without oversight and complete immunity, that want him stopped at all costs (including his death) b/c they fear that their power is going to be taken away. They believe that they should always be the agencies that silently control everything and know what is best for the country. This would also include complicity, either directly or by intentional inaction to specific threats, against those who they deem ‘unworthy’ or a threat to their authority, power and control.

This morning, however, I was reminded that there were two attempts on Gerald Ford, a little over two weeks apart.
Now let us hope that there will not be a third. This is not a record that anyone would like broken.
Got me wondering why two people tried to kill President Ford. He wasn’t very controversial to the best of my recollection.
Squeaky Fromme was worried about California’s coast redwoods falling down because of smog, so she “decided to bring attention to the trees by putting fear into the government through killing its symbol, President Ford.” Apparently Ford was trying to get some environment regulations relaxed.
Sara Jane Moore “explained in a 2009 interview that her motive was to spark a violent revolution in order to bring change to America.”
I remember when that happened, I was in college, our journalism instructor (a reporter in her real job) interviewed Sara Jane Moore (who asked the reporter if she would keep some of her things in storage while she was in jail, oddly).
Let’s face it, most of these folks are “off,” sadly; they become sucked into some sort of paranoia or alternative explanation of things only they can “see” and go with it. I heard Routh’s son express surprise over the assassination attempt. But Routh clearly headed off down one of those less-beaten trails of alternative political ideas, be it left/right or some odd mixture of the two, or in between or back-and-forth. We’ve seen this before.
I’d only add that Trump frequented that golf course, it was a nearby favorite of his, and since Routh apparently wasn’t gainfully employed and had no where else he had to be, he would have had the time (12 hours according to cell records) to “hang out” living off whatever was in the backpacks in the event or until Trump showed up; golf course staff also would have probably had a heads up about when he was coming).
