Good morning from busy Atlanta! This weekend we have 75,000 in town for the world’s largest Dragon Con event, 65,000 for a college football game between Georgia and Clemson, and 30,000 for the International Black Pride event. Sounds like a good time for me to stay at home! Happy to do so. Praising God I get to be a homebody today♡
The weather forecast is rain for parts of the weekend, especially Labor Day.
I get to stay home today. Between the cave and the community college I’ve had work every day since last Sunday. So I’m watching college football.
I could go to our annual Steam- Punk festival, but would rather have to work. Steam Punk is basically Victorian era sci-fi. Think Jules Verne, but taken to the extreme.
La Times finally caught up on a port story we’ve been covering for several weeks, one of our former reporters I’ve always liked (and is really so talented, no on the la city beat) did give us a shoutout which was nice.
Meeting up with couple girlfriends from the old dog park days tonight for Italian dinner out at one of our most popular family-owned pizza houses in town. One is having issues with a new dog she and her husband recently adopted so will pass on my trainer’s info if she’s interested. Her husband is off duck hunting this weekend.
Other friend and former roommate, meanwhile, has signed up to be a poll worker (along with her husband), they need to go through a lot of training but the pay is $100 a day. My mom used to work polling places on occasion back in the day, during simpler, less volatile times.
I enjoyed being a poll worker, but would not want to be one in Georgia for this election. My vision would prevent me from doing that job now. Our supervisor wanted us trained to do it all so we were supposed to rotate positions throughout the day. I found myself just wanting to stick with one particular duty and the same coworkers beside me. So I think in the end we did not rotate as much as the supervisor had hoped for. We also brought food to share since we were not supposed to go out.
I may be seeing things but I think my dogwood leaves are starting to change color. Am I wearing fall colored glasses or just dreaming. Never mind, don’t wake me up ( unless my tree is dying). I long for autumn. 🙂
We definitely have more leaves falling. And even with the hot weather this past week, fall was in the air and the angles of the light are different..
Church was great, as usual. Thankful that God led me here for this time. The couple who I became friends with at the start, and who put in our basement door, have already moved on as they built a retirement home outside of Atlanta. But I feel I have made other friends now so it has all been good. Art feels at home, too, for which I am so greteful.

Yikes! I would stay home too, if possible. A bit too warm here today. Tomorrow looks much better. Cherishing these last days of summer, however.

And yet today is going to be warm and humid. Tomorrow brings cooler weather, though.
