Good morning, Wandering Wanderers! I will be wandering to a nearby town for a funeral today. A friend’s MIL died. This is the same family that recently had the adoption celebration. So glad the grandmother got to know her adopted grandson for a short season.
You had quite a storm with hail, Mumsee. How is your dad? And are you feeling much improved lately?
It appears I will not be going to that funeral today. My friend has been at the vet’s office with her dog and at a medical office for herself. I think that is enough for her to call it a day!
Had a wonderful time catching up with my friend yesterday. A godly woman still serving Him.
we went to lunch at Olive Garden but there were no salads on the menu. We switched to Panera. I had a Mediterranean greens salad and was delighted with it.
finally caught up with my younger friend who is spending two nights with me. We will see what hikes I am up for as I am sitting here with ice packs on my leg
I went for a very short walk late yesterday. I am still recovering from tendonitis, but on the mend it appears. The PowerStep insoles help along with the sock ankle brace. The doc said I might want to get some hiking boots. They’d be good for mowing the lawn on the uneven ground. Any recommendations?
I was sad to read from DJ yesterday that Coco’s locations have been shutting down. I checked and see that there are still 7 locations around LA, but the one we always went to when staying in Pasadena is gone.
The “restaurant and bakery” chains like Marie Callender’s, Coco’s and Baker’s Square were always good places to get dinner and a piece of pie. Of those only Baker’s Square existed in Michigan when we moved here, and it’s long gone too.
Perkins has been struggling, but still has lots of restaurants in some parts of the country, but none around here.
Years ago we had a Coco’s in our vicinity. It was the only one I knew of and it was great for breakfast. I never knew why it went out.
Did anybody here ever go to a Mariott Hot Shoppe’s restaurant? I have a cookbook from there which has super recipes. I have never even seen the restaurant though.

Good morning, all, on another beautiful day. We had wind and rain and hail and thunder last night. Waiting to see what God brings today!

Jo, the soup-and-salad offering is gone from Olive Garden?? I’d always order that. 😦
And I think it was Baker’s Square that was our other handy little restaurant that also closed right across from Coco’s.
New topic:
Chasing a protest story now (unrelated to restaurant closure discussion)
Always something. …

Back to the restaurants — yeah, it seems like there’s nothing (or very little in between fast food and the pricier/dressier places now.

Actually, there is a Chick-fil-A where that Coco’s used to be.

I received a text from son that mentioned Labour Day. That spelling indicates to me that he has spent too much time in Brittish Lit.
At 11 p.m. it was 84°. The high was 97°, one degree below the record. Way.Too.Hot.
