  1. The flip flopping continues….

She doesn’t dare tell you who she really is.

“Kamala’s campaign just did a policy walk back for the ages.

Her staffers now claim that she doesn’t support electric vehicle mandates.

But the Biden EPA last March implemented new regulations to convert half of all new car sales to electric by 2030.

They’re now claiming she doesn’t support something the government she works for is currently doing”

  2. “Kamala’s now promising $5 trillion in new taxes. Including tax hikes on small business, a 44.6% capital gains rate, and a corporate hike that will send companies to China.

Plus — for the first time in American history — a tax on imaginary “unrealized gains.”

These would wipe out small business, send factories overseas, and rob 44.6% of your retirement. And every dime taken will go to activists, welfare, and yet more wars.”

  3. As always , dems saying they’ll save democracy are doing quite the opposite.

“Michigan’s Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson isn’t allowing @RobertKennedyJr to remove his name from the ballot (which could hurt Trump).

Meanwhile her party is trying to remove Cornel West because he may hurt Kamala.

Never let these people talk about democracy ever again. They’re just corrupt thugs.”

  4. From my reading, the tax on unrealized capital gains would apply only to people with a net worth of $100 million or more.

Not saying it’s a good idea, but it probably won’t “rob 44.6% of your retirement.”

  5. Unfortunately the Michigan Secy of State is prevented by law from removing Kennedy from the ballot.

168.590c Qualifying petition; filing; time; filing notice of withdrawal.
Sec. 590c. (3) A candidate who files a qualifying petition shall not be permitted to withdraw his or her candidacy unless a written notice of withdrawal is filed with the filing officer who received the petition. The notice shall be filed not later than 4 p.m. of the third day after the last day for filing a qualifying petition.

Cornel West, on the other hand, isn’t withdrawing. The Secy of State and others are challenging the legitimacy of his filing based on questionable looking signatures on his nominating petition. (He’s an independent candidate so not nominated by a party.) I don’t doubt that there’s partisan motivation behind that.

  6. Kevin,

Here’s how Kamala’s tax plans would effect everyone, not just the ultra rich.

    https://www.cato.org/blog/harriss-taxes-unrealized-gains-only-tip-5-trillion-tax-iceberg

“Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign recently confirmed that she supports all the nearly $5 trillion in tax increases included in President Biden’s 2025 budget proposal. Among the long list of tax hikes is a novel proposal to tax the unrealized gains of wealthy Americans. As many commentators have noted, such a tax would be economically destructive, but the fervor over this one bad idea has distracted from other more wide-reaching and even more economically damaging proposals.

For example, Harris’s 28 percent federal corporate tax rate and 44.6 percent top capital gains and dividend tax rate would give the United States the highest total tax rate on corporate income in the developed world when combined with state taxes. As I recently explained, workers ultimately bear most of the cost of the corporate income tax through lower wages and fewer job opportunities. Because the corporate income tax is one of the most economically destructive ways to raise revenue, the total economic cost of Harris’ proposed tax hike will likely be multiple times larger than the tax revenue it raises.

The Harris plan would also increase top federal income tax rates so that combined state, local, and federal tax rates would be on the wrong side of the Laffer curve in 36 states and Washington, DC—the point at which higher tax rates create so much economic distortion that they no longer bring in additional tax revenue.

The cumulative economic losses from Harris’s tax hikes will be death from a thousand cuts. Each proposal may seem targeted at just a few Americans, a particular industry, or only profitable companies. However, taken together, Harris proposes the largest tax increase in more than 40 years, raising tax rates to some of the highest in the world and resulting in lower wages for American workers and slower economic growth.”

  7. I have to take back what I said about the law and Kennedy. The section I quoted is about candidates who file individual nominating petitions, not to candidates who are nominated by a party, so it doesn’t apply to Kennedy.

I have found similar wording preventing party nominees for other offices from withdrawing, but nothing clear about presidential candidates withdrawing. So maybe Benson is wrong on this.

  8. As I said, I wasn’t defending any of Harris’s tax plan. I only pointed out that “rob 44.6% of your retirement income” is inaccurate.

Contextless quotes from X inflame without providing an accurate picture. Pieces like your Cato excerpt on the other hand is helpful.

  9. “U.S. Army veteran Lucas O’Hara, who was at Arlington Cemetery on Monday honoring those killed at Abbey Gate on the third anniversary of the bombing in Afghanistan.

“I have witnessed over 75 wreath laying ceremonies performed by politicians and conducted 524 funerals in this cemetery during the time I served in the Presidential Honor Guard for three years.

What I got to witness yesterday was the most respectful and solemn ceremony I have seen.

There were no speeches, no angles, no weird photo ops just our elected officials and the 45th President respectfully and solemnly honoring the fallen and their families.”

“Democrats tried to throw Trump off the ballot, then they threw Joe Biden off the ballot to install a candidate nobody voted for, but they’re also trying to throw Cornel West and Jill Stein off the ballot while trying to keep a guy who’s not running anymore on the ballot, but only in states where they think it might help Democrats.

    They call this “democracy.””
