The riots in the U.K. are a frightening result of rumors on social media going viral.

The man who stabbed those little girls in the dance class was neither an immigrant nor Muslim. (This says that his family is Christian, and “heavily involved” in their church. That being said, we can’t tell from this how orthodox their church may be.) But the rumors flew on social media that he was both, resulting in the rioting that is going on.
I think the plan for the LA Olympics is to borrow a lot of buses and ban cars. Not sure how that will work … In the 1980s we did manage to pull off the Olympics well, however, and that did involve a lot of flexible work schedules and some serious traffic control on major arteries (which remarkably stayed free-flowing throughout the games).
