  1. Good Saturday morning.

This seems like it’s been a long week. I got trained on a new tour besides the regular activities. We have a topsy-turvy kitchen/dining/living room since we had our flooring redone. All the things from the kitchen/dining room are in the living room. At least the floor is done now and we can start moving it all back.

  2. We have had that scenario this summer, too, Peter. We will have the countertop in another week or so, hopefully. Also, we should have an electrician come to wire up the fan that is in, but not hooked up. That would not have been my choice, but the handyman put it up without asking me. I would have left the old one in. I always use my fan and the light.

Then we have to have a discussion about cost, which I will not enjoy. Nevertheless, there was an issue, and it needs to be addressed. I find it stressful.

However, today the music group is the first group to play music at a local festival. They play outside and the weather will be cool, but not rainy, thankfully.

  3. My kitchen is topsy-turvy, and I am without excuse! Well, I could blame it on the juicer, lol

Here is something to enjoy as part of your Sabbath rest this weekend, a laser light show over Jerusalem (compliments of my Marta Mobility friend):

  4. The furnace has kicked on several times and we have a wet forest floor.

Renovations and home upkeep are no fun! We took a break this summer after five years of summer projects. This fall the front porch will be tackled with new boards and railings.DYI…then we need to replace the back deck!

  5. I forgot to mention that we’re also having a window put in the dining area for more light and air flow. Right now there is just a door to the back yard.

And he discovered some mold in the walls due to leaking so he’s replacing some of the sheet rock.

Then today the battery died in the grocery store parking lot. I haven’t replaced a car battery in a while. $239! The last one was half that cost.

  6. Glad we can still get batteries and groceries, etc. This morning at Pubix it seemed the shelves needed stocking, and I was reminded of Covid shortages. That was such a shocking time. Not so long ago, but we choose to forget.

  7. They’re not at my house–well, except for the live-in who has finally fixed the sprinklers outside (died while we were traveling. My hydrangeas are crispy! Sob. But, now there’s a ceiling leak that needs repairing. Hmm, maybe I AM joining you all!)

Anyway, in case you missed this inspiring story, which I did: https://religionnews.com/2024/08/07/one-church-two-astronauts-how-a-texas-congregation-is-supporting-its-members-on-the-space-station/

If you’ve got to be stranded in space, why not with your church elder?

    Hmm. Or not?

M–who is close to being caught up. Ha!

  8. We started a sermon series today in Genesis. It will take months to get through the book. I spoke with a friend at a neighboring church and they started Revelation today. The beginning and the end all here in our vicinity!

  9. We spent at least a couple years going through Revelation a few years back, I think it was during the pandemic (but timing was not related to that).

I was so glad to see my 90-year-old British friend at church today (honestly, he’s so youthful looking, trim, has all his hair, good skin, and dresses so snappy; he said his much younger doctors always express surprise when seeing his age in the charts, he could honestly pass for 70ish). He was tired by the end of the morning, he just got out of a long 2nd hospital stay a couple days ago, but I think it did him good. And it surely did all the rest of us good to see him back in his usual seat!

  10. There was an article in the area newspaper about a 102 yr. old who recently died. We saw this man many, many times as he went to the same restaurant after church that we did. I knew he was old, but not that old. We saw him a couple of weeks ago. Today, we saw the friends he always arrived with and his son. We were surprised at the son, because we know him a bit and never realized the connection. There was a lot of hugging and some tears, including with one of the regular servers from the restaurant, who was also mentioned in the article. It is amazing some of the older citizens we have in our communities who are still out and about.

  11. Brit friend once told me his aim is to live to be 100. If anyone can make it by the force of will, he just might!

He said his life’s motto has always been “Yes I can!” — all the PT folks love him because he has such an upbeat, positive attitude.
