  1. Sweet bird up there this morning! Bluebird?

We saw a bit of rainfall yesterday but the bulk of it missed us again. More predicted for today…hoping! 54 degrees now with a high of 64. The furnace was turned on last night.

  2. It looks like a bluebird to me. The bluebird house is usually recommended to have a slanted bottom, however. This does look like the ones my husband made years ago. We used to get bluebirds when we mostly had fields around us. Now we have too many trees. That is not the habitat bluebirds like. We get plenty of other birds, but I did enjoy the bluebirds, of course. When one of the houses was filled with bees or hornets, we decided to take them all down.

  3. We had bluebirds but the sparrows are in the house now. We enjoy the journey with them.

Good morning, all, from beautiful land. About sixty six now, expecting eighty six.

  4. I missed the trash pickup this morning. Sigh. Was on the agenda for last night as usual — but forgot and didn’t remember until it was quite late. So I figured I’d hustle at least the actual “trash” bin down early today, but I see I missed the truck for that particular can; they picked those up first this week.

    But it is Friday, yay.

Having no luck with Abby and the car this week. Dogs are too smart. Doesn’t matter how normal and upbeat you act, they can read you.

And she seemed to know exactly what I was up to and would not let me leash her up yesterday for the car exercise. But she was fine an hour or so later when it was time for the regular walk.

  5. Good point, Kizzie.

Cats, too, have that sense of knowing when they are being motivated by human actions to do something.

Dread builds as the thought of getting Miss B in the cat carrier draws closer. The new vet is booked until September so I’ve got to find out when Art can take time to go with me. We have to start hours before the appt. giving her gabapenton, and I expect her to hide, and I have to lure her out from hiding. It is such an ordeal.

  6. Kizzie, yes, I’ve thought of that — this was maybe 90 minutes before the normal walk time so it probably made her suspicious.

“Here it comes,” Abby was thinking, “she’s going to get rid of me now. … ”

  7. She was literally hiding behind a bush at one point.

And I do remember the process to get the cat carrier ready, putting it out a couple days in advance.

  8. Speaking of cats: pretty kitty made an appearance this morning. A much slimmer version of her self. As she was very well rounded last night, we are assuming she had her kittens. Fairly certain she has them under a wood pile as she headed back there after eating. Hopefully she can protect them from the nomad Tom.

  9. I’m seeing white houses with black trim also, I like it — but anything that gets overused will get old. Keeps the paint companies in business.

For a while, the look was gray houses with bright white trim.

  10. went to the fair today with little Lucy. It went well as I had no agenda. Just wandered and did what she liked. Sat down with the older cousins when they were on break from the cinnamon bun booth. They were a actually using cinnamon rolls to barter things from other booths. One had a new dress
