  1. Jeff Childers: watching the Olympic Games???

Practically begging for a lightning bolt, and auditioning for cameo appearances in Hades, the Olympic Committee rounded up every bearded tranvestite in Paris and liberally deployed makeup in gallon-sized cartons. The opening ceremony’s ‘centerpiece’, if you can call it that, was a living replica of the Last Supper, except featuring poorly-passing, overweight men (and one child, of course) dressed in gayly decorated, over-the-top drag costumes, in a blasphemous facsimile of the Creator of the Universe and his twelve disciples.

The ‘Drag Last Supper’ was only one of several trans-abled segments in an overlong, painfully dull series of performances. Attendees weathered things like fun, modern takes on the French Revolution, a singing, beheaded Marie Antoinette in drag, sordid Gallic themes like the ever-popular ménages à trois. At one point, an apocalyptic metallic horse galloped across the Seine on rails at the exciting pace of an escargot race.

Bearded mimes dressed as gals twerked and cavorted to bizarre electronic music, moving just like electrified frogs in a high-school science experiment, and generally made asses of themselves.

Judging purely by appearances (forgive me), none of these performers had any chance of competing in the Drag Queen 5K’s walking division, much less the Olympics. They appeared (again, sorry) to be best qualified to participate in any event ending with the words “eating contest.” Until very recently, the Olympics used to celebrate peak human performance and althetic ability, but in this 33rd year, they more resembled an amateur LGBTQIAA++ fashion show.

  2. Re: that video that is supposed to prove that Kamala Harris likens ICE to the KKK. Again, she was referring to the perception of ICE. In fact, right at the end of the video, she states:

“I think the vast majority of the men and the women who work in the agency do a noble and good job. I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about the perception.”

  3. The following is a general statement, not aimed at anyone in particular. (I see this kind of thing quite a bit, from various people):

It is tiring and disheartening to see these things on both sides of the political spectrum – whether taking quotes out of context, spinning quotes to mean what they were not intended to mean, assuming the worst motives, searching for any little piece of dirt even if one has to make it up, etc. There is a contempt (verging on hatred) that some on each side have for those with whom they disagree (mainly politically) that causes even some believers to not stop to consider that they may be about to tread on the commandment to not bear false witness.

It is also dismaying to see so many (even some fellow believers) be so willing to believe the worst about those they disagree with that they don’t even bother to check into the accuracy or truth of a post before sharing. As I said in a Facebook post a couple or so years ago, if we don’t have the time to check out a post, then we don’t have the time to share it.

We can’t do anything about what worldly people do, but as Christians, we should do better, and be an example of honesty and integrity instead of jumping on a bandwagon of contempt.

  4. I would suggest that just as in the same manner Trump has been linked as being a “Hitler” Harris has equated ICE with the KKK by “suggesting” there is a “perception”. Quibbling over what her exact wording was does nothing to excuse her perceived intent. And observing her character or lack there of it is quite obvious to many what she is doing.

  5. I enjoyed the Carlson interview with Rich. I was not familiar with Carlson on Fox because we only watched the local news for years. Of course I’d hear his name but did not even know what he looked like. I was as interested in the interview in hearing about his reading of the Bible recently as I was in hearing what Rich said. It is always fascinating to hear about a person who has never read the Bible finally doing so as an adult and hearing what it has done for them. I hope some on this blog who have unsaved adult children will finally hear the adult children have picked up the Bible with a new interest as times get more crazy.

  13. But here’s the thing. Trump is being labeled by the left as a Hitler and or dictator. There is nothing to substantiate their rhetoric. Harris on the other hand absolutely and willfully suggested there is a “perception” of ICE being the same as the KKK. I would observe it is HER “perception” and she deliberately wants to cement that in the minds of the American people. Big difference to me.

Harris is considering a wide range of vice presidential candidates from the Democratic Party’s bench, though people familiar with the process say a short list has emerged including three elected officials with nationwide appeal: Arizona Senator Mark Kelly, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

  15. ~ … Harris is expected to make a selection by Aug. 7, in order to align with the party’s plan to virtually nominate a ticket by that date.

Picking a vice presidential candidate will cement the Democratic standard-bearers to take on Republican nominee Donald Trump and running mate JD Vance in the November election. Harris’ sidekick can serve as a force multiplier who can campaign and raise money on her behalf, while ideally complimenting her strengths and covering any vulnerabilities.

Most on Harris’ list are White, male politicians with centrist leanings who could help Harris appeal to swing-state voters, as well as business leaders and donors. They have a track record of attacking Trump and his firebrand style of politics. Walz has gained momentum with progressives, enough to vault himself into consideration, according to people familiar with the matter.

… Democrats cautioned that the search must still be thorough in order to catch any red-flags. …

“As the Trump team is finding out, it’s not just the legal vetting that the team has to do, but it also has to go through tweets, speeches and clips,” said Democratic strategist Karen Finney. “You want a thorough vet, and you want to go through a substantial volume of background info to give you a picture of the person.” …

… The switch from Biden to Harris has energized Democrats, who have gathered tens of thousands on organizing calls and given millions of dollars in donations since the president dropped out. The challenge for Harris is to sustain that momentum for their pick. … ~

  16. Czar is an informal term, typically given to someone by the news media. It’s never someone’s actual title.

In that video alternating between someone calling her a czar four years ago and someone saying she was never a czar today, all the people calling her czar four years ago are reporters and commentators. Biden didn’t call her that as far as I’ve been able to tell.

He did give her certain responsibilities related to the border.

Wikipedia erred in removing Harris from the list, since they themselves state at the beginning of the article that it’s an informal and unofficial term that’s subjective, and she was widely called that.

Mr Biden said Ms Harris’s past work as California’s attorney general made her well suited to leading the effort, adding: “When she speaks, she speaks for me.”

In response Ms Harris said: “Needless to say, the work will not be easy. But it is important work.”

  18. Harris Erases Trump’s Lead, WSJ Poll FindsTwo candidates are effectively tied after Biden’s exit shakes up race…

~ The presidential race between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump is essentially tied, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll that shows heightened support for her among nonwhite voters and dramatically increased enthusiasm about the campaign among Democrats.

The former president leads the current vice president 49% to 47% in a two-person matchup, but that is within the margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points. Trump held a six-point lead earlier this month over President Biden before he exited the race and backed Harris.

On a ballot test that included Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and other independent and third-party candidates, Harris receives 45% and Trump gets 44%. Kennedy is backed by just 4% and 5% remain undecided. Biden trailed in the multicandidate contest by six points in the last poll. …

… A race that is essentially tied nationally means Trump would still likely have the Electoral College advantage, given the way the country’s population is dispersed. In 2016, Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by nearly 3 million votes, but won more than 300 out of 538 Electoral College votes.

Ohio Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s newly selected vice presidential running mate, is viewed favorably by 42% and unfavorably by 44%. …

  19. Mumsee, I watched all the opening ceremony of the Olympics and was totally disgusted with the depravity and ugliness and the thing with the famous Last Supper painting. To me the Olympics is for families. There is much in this presentation that I would not want children to see. Really, we need to see a three-some in an Olympic opening? We need to see bloody heads and blood symbolically depicted? There were highlights, but nothing to make up for the low-down garbage, IMO. It is too bad that there is a whole committee that think those things are a good idea for an Olympic opener. It saddened me.
