  1. Good morning. Enjoying the cool and quiet of the morning here. Mid nineties today, inching up to one hundred this weekend. The grandchildren will be back this weekend as the judge reinstated husband as an acceptable supervisor. I suspect other daughter will be bringing them as their mom had her baby last week.

  2. 😦 Mosquito bites. An early rant for the week.

And 😦 I’m locked out of my work email and will need to get a company ‘help desk’ request in for that today; but first I have an early assignment to get to for an on-dock rail project groundbreaking, too much excitement 🙂

I used to like getting new phones but nowadays I put it off (but I’ll have to do it soon, I’m still on an iPhone 12). Now I dread the process as they make all those changes and it’s a learning curve again. Age is catching up with the digital me.

  3. morning all. I get to go back to PT today. Now time to do my exercises. The good news is that I’m losing weight as I’m eating different meals. Saw a weight on the scale today that I haven’t seen in a long time

Mumsee so happy to hear that you will see the grands.

  4. I’m trying to decipher mumsee’s comment @12:24 …. (spell check wants to call mumsee “muse” today).

Big event, about 500 there w/the main speaker Pete B /US Transportation Secy who’s been out here a few times before. Ran into a few folks I hadn’t seen in a while, including one source who was chatting alone afterward with the editor of the far-left wing independent paper in town. We’ve never been cozy, but I was nice.

And lots of Biden/Harris references with lavish praise by several speakers. You think it’s maybe an election year? 🙂

Jo, I grabbed McDonalds on the way home — I know, I know … 😦

  5. DJ, you were talking like it might be time to get a new phone though you have a 12. I was wondering if my iPhone 8 might be getting past its prime.

  6. Oh! OK, now you make sense. lol

I went from the 8 to the 12 because my 8 no longer would even hold a charge. It was shot.

But if yours still works OK, hang on to it (though at some point they won’t connect with the updated software and that can pose problems as well)

  7. Works fine for me I charged it sometime yesterday and it is still at 79% so that is fine for me. Guess it is a keeper.

  8. AW, Bob Newhart died (94). A huge favorite of mine & my mom’s.

Anyone remember his “record” back in the dark ages where he’s the driving instructor? Hilarious.

He brought a lot of joy to many generations.

  9. Mosquito bites. I put deep woods Off on before I leave for work in the morning. After lunch I put on another layer of Off. I have also been burning mosquito coils (under my desk). Remember, I work IN an office. They are absolutely voracious and so many and so persistent. I have many, many bites all over despite my precautions. This has been a very bad year for bugs.

We are having a wonderful hot summer and I cannot complain about the 85F and over temps. But the mosquitoes and biting flies are loving it too.

  10. Oh, mosquitoes here too – my arms got bit up the other day (in the house!) so I’m back to using my preferred repellant (Sawyer Picaridin Insect Repellant lotion/14 hours). Stuff works great and is (truly) scentless. Via Amazon.

    Mosquito coils sound pretty serious!

  11. DJ, thanks, that’s interesting. We can’t get Sawyer brand here but there are other ones that have that ingredient. Might need to try it since we are quite sensitive to scents. Although I’m not sure how you put lotion on your clothing. These mosquitoes bite through even jeans.

  12. Yeah, not for clothing but goes great on skin (underneath!). I can’t tolerate the smells or greasiness of some of the products out there. I think I did get something especially made for clothing a few years ago when these aedes mosquitoes were new and just really biting us all up.

They’re still here and still biting but we’ve developed a bit of a tolerance to them that we didn’t have before. But they’re spreading bad diseases, I think Florida is the latest state hit with that (denege fever?)

Vector Control here has been worried about them for a while and I think have released some sterile males recently to try to cut the population.

  13. I misspelled it.

~ Dengue viruses are spread to people through the bites of infected Aedes species mosquitoes (Ae. aegypti or Ae. albopictus). These are the same types of mosquitoes that spread Zika and chikungunya viruses. ~

  14. When I was a teenager watching the original Bob Newhart Show with my parents, they bought an album of Newhart’s standup work. He was really hilarious. My favorite was the his bit as an instructor at the bus driver’s school. Accelerator, brake, accelerator, brake. If you do it right you’ll have them spinning up and down the aisle.

And there was no profanity on the whole album.
