  1. Prayers for safety at the Republican convention this week, and all gatherings of people who may be targeted during this most vulnerable time in our nation’s history. May Democrats who could be targeted also be protected. May God’s blesding go before whoever is chosen to be Trump’s running mate. It could be a fearful time for them and their family.

  2. Here’s a prayer we can offer together today from the Book of Common Prayer:

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure conduct. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom, in thy Name, we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

The above thanks to David Cassidy at The Gospel Coalition today:

~ Earlier today, pastors around the United States led their congregations in praying in the wake of yesterday’s failed assassination attempt on former president Donald J. Trump. We offer one such prayer by David Cassidy, pastor of Spanish River Church in Boca Raton, Florida. Below is a lightly edited version shared with permission. ~

  3. I apologize if my prayer request was taken as devisive. I wI’ll try to keep requests more on a personal needs requests here. Generic prayers for the nation are better so as not to offend.🙏🙏🙏

    Amen to unspoken requests.

  4. I guess that these days people are easily triggered by anything that sounds weighted to one side or the other. It is wonderful to pray for the general good of thd nation and to utilize tried and true prayers ftom the pros of the past. But I guess I have always tbought it was important to speak to God about specific needs of the moment. Given what just happened two days ago and what was happening today, with it all being so close together and some people may be having PTSD over the Sat. happening, I was feeling empathy and a need to pray specifcally about that. I guess I can’t understand why anyone would not be in agreement in praying over that, but there is that trigger of mentioning a party name . . . if circumstances had been reversed, I would have been asking prayer over the Democrat convention.

I just don’t want to be triggering anyone who is sensitive to such things. I have plenty of other things that I can ask prayer for besides things on the national level🙏

  5. Just back from the eye doctor and a long visit at that — Janice I love your prayers and the detail they include. I tend to do “flyover” or overviews many times all depending on time available or sometimes just what primarily comes to me.

I’m not ‘triggered’ or sensitive when it comes to politics — and our nation is always in need of prayer, on both sides, for all that we are going through; for safety and well-being for our leaders, for calm in difficult times, certainly for campaigns and the decisions being made at the conventions.

All of our prayers meld together, I’d like to think, and God hears them all in their variety.

Probably more than can be said, but I need to get Abby and me fed!
