Good morning. Morning fog here and blessed coolness in the morning. We are currently taking in the cool air with open windows. Later we will reap the benefits. I like the cool air much more than my husband does. He puts up with it, since the alternative is having an air conditioner put in. While we are ‘busy’ letting in the cool air, we are watching the hummingbirds enjoy their breakfast. We are so blessed!
We got our new air conditioner yesterday. We’ve known since we moved in that we’d need one at some point, and are happy it lasted us six years. But it did get pretty humid (67%, I think my husband said) before we got the old one replaced. We think it was a side effect of the June 25 storm; the power surge when we lost power is what the repairman said was the likely culprit that fried the board.
We’re only in the high 70s (and that will continue through the next week) but the humidity is in the mid or high 60% range.
Taking friend who was homeless to her post office box and maybe another errand today — I will be glad when she gets a car 🙂 — so she wanted to head out at 9:30 a.m., a little early for me but I was up at 8 a.m.
Had a little trouble sleeping last night, so I finally opened the large bedroom window and hoped a serial killer wasn’t on the loose.
In the past, having learned it from my parents, I have always opened the windows at night to cool down the house but with my dad here, he gets uncomfortable below sixty eight so that option is not available. But I open our bedroom windows and close our door. That helps.
Good afternoon. With giving up driving, I have to go places early before Art goes to work so I’m not here as often early in the day.
This morning we went to Publix. We also drove by a home in the neighborhood where there was a fire. Our friends escaped with their lives but the lady is in the downtown hospital burn unit. So sad this happened to them. I have been in their home a number of times. Church friends, and she is a retired Kinder or 1st grade teacher. Please pray for A & J. They lost everything (near our age).
Janice how devastating. We shall cover them in prayer 🙏 trusting the Lord to comfort them through the valley.
I found a new gal to cut my hair. Yesterday’s cut was a disaster and I ended up with a stacked cut, short layers which were supposed to be long and wings on the sides of my head!!! I was ready to shave my head afterwards! The new stylist Tina fixed it and even though it is shorter than I originally wanted, it will grow!!😂and no more wings!! 🪽
A good hair stylist is hard to find. I’ve gone to one for years that was okay, but was always scared to switch. Then I asked my friend if she could take me on and she does the best job I’ve ever had. AND we get to share and talk and pray for each other! What a blessing.
We’re finally getting warm weather here. It has been below 60 most of May and June with overnights close to freezing. We’re at 79F today but with humidity feels like 85. So wonderful. I floated in the pool for an hour this morning and an hour this afternoon. There will be another dip after supper to cool off for the evening. No A/C in this house.
I’m drenched, it’s 74 degrees today but with 74% humidity! Ugh.
That patio job continues, I made the mistake of getting too distracted with some minutia (a bag of paperwork) and finally realized I could set the paperwork bags aside, out of the insurance assessment camera view; I need to keep focusing on the bigger picture, how to group “like” things (that belong on the patio) together in containers, get the items back to the garage that belong there.
Was supposed to go out to eat with a friend but I’m drenched and filthy so suggested we take a rain check.
Who knows what the tiny yellow spots are that you find on your car, etc.? I thought some kind of weird bird poop but neighbor says bees or wasps.
Actually, it’s pollen, from bees. At least that’s what the California AQMD has determined, according to the L.A. Times. But beyond that, there is a more definitive, disgusting answer. According to Susan Cobey at the UC Davis bee laboratory, it’s digested pollen, or more precisely, bee poop.
Oh, fun! We got to watch the Braves beat Philly. Finally, a game was broadcast on Fox. So nice to see them play again. A rookie pitcher for the Braves did great.
We went to the movie, “The Story of Hope,” and enjoyed it very much. It is nice to see movies that are well done and show what the Lord has done in people’s lives and what can be done.
Who needs the weather channel when I can see the weather reports from all over right here!
69° and sunny right now, with a 40% chance of rain later. We got 1½ inches last week, so I had to mow the lawn after not doing so for a couple of weeks.
Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. I do not plan on attending church this morning as the fever continues at one hundred one plus. But my dad invited my brother ( though neither realizes I am out) and he agreed to go. Should be interesting ! They will have husband and two young folk.
Our Hispanic pastor did the sermon today. We have a new series on prayers in the Bible. Today he covered Nehemiah’s prayer. Quite a few people came up for the altar call. Actually, the most I’ve ever seen go up. How refreshing . . . hearts stirred to committ or recommitt to God. The time is ripe . . . Aslan is on the move.
We rarely get summer rain here, unless there’s a residual monsoon-effect that travels up from Mexico.
Always good to gather with the saints on Sunday mornings.
We welcomed a couple back who had moved to Texas for a few years, decided, nah, back to the California coast for us; and said goodbye to a couple who’s moving to Arizona. The pastor suggested it’s just a very quick flight now for them on Sunday mornings.
I remember when my brother flew from Tucson to San Diego. It was a 50 minute flight and he arrived 10 minutes before he left. (Departure @ 5:00 PM MST, arrival @ 4:50 PM PST.)
We had the fires, now followed by flooding in the community where I work. Flooding north of us, rain all around. Our pasture is crispy. We never had enough rain last year for the water to run, so our ponds have been dry for 2 years.
I have a beautiful garden. My water bill reflects just how nice it is.
Sorry I have been absent, just so much to process with the ongoing disasters.
where are you all. Forecast here is 111 I have the whole house fan on to begin the day

We have been out playing cornhole.

91° here with storms expected later to cool things down. Very humid but feels okay in the shade.

Ah, guess the neighbor was right:

Yes, Mumsee, take good care of yourself. It seems Covid is again on the rise around here. I hope that’s not what you have.🙏
