  1. Thanks , AJ for the Red, White, and Blue greeting!

Happy Independence Day from Atlanta!!! The Peachtree Road Race is the big happening here today. It’s already done for some and others are still out their plodding along probably. The news said the oldest is 99 years old. Can you imagine?

  2. Good morning, all. Another gorgeous day here but temps should be ramping up.

I think the fever finally broke last night and I am as “normal” as I will ever get.

Happy Fourth of July to all!

I would be sad for Anon who never got a Wednesday, but I just can’t gin up the empathy. 😉

We were happy to be able to sleep in a bit again and have the house to ourselves. Now the putting back is going to be my job. There is so much dusting, cleaning and a bit of sorting to do. Should I really keep those old children’s book sets that no one seems to ever read?

What is really sad, is that I have to put things back and will have to do the reverse when I finally get to painting the kitchen.

    Oh, but I am blessed!

  4. As to books, I took care of that by sending them all to the grown children that expressed interest. Others off to donations, but most went to daughter’s basement and I get pictures now and again of grandson deeply engrossed in one tale or another. Meanwhile, I find myself restocking because such and such grandchild is coming and he might like this. The challenges.

  5. So my family get together was last night at my house. It went so well that someone must have been praying. Grandson came over at 3. We got along so well. I showed him around the house and then we visited and cooked together.

My sister and her husband came, the first time that they have been here They love my girls, especially having decided not to have children themselves. We even talked about my communist older sister who is actively recruiting her to join the cause of overthrowing our government. I mentioned that I never hear from her and sister said of course why would she get in touch with someone who is a missionary. I could see that God was protecting me. The sister here is very liberal but her husband is not, he and I agree on many things. Including how bad the governor of CA is.

  6. That is literally the first time that I have spent with grandson and it was all by his choice.

My girls even did the dishes before they left. All of the 7 grands that were here had fun together.

There is a get together today, but I haven’t yet been invited. I will go if I get a text other wise probably go to my friends home.

  7. This is at least the third day over 100 and it looks like we may have another 10 or so. I had my ac on for hours and it only brought it down to 83. Bil said it felt great as it was 105 outside. Trying to decide what to do to keep cool. I may just hang out at my friends house as they have solar panels and a generator so the ac isn’t costing them. It might be good to borrow a fan from them so I can sleep downstairs.

Had all of the fans on yesterday and one of them wouldn’t turn off so I need to get a new battery for the remote. But I figured out that I could swap out the batteries for now.

So dry, so hot. Can you east coasters imagine heat without humidity??? Lots of fires so I also have to be ready to evacuate.

  8. Happy Fourth!

Jo that sounds absolutely wonderful! Praying for your family to know and love our Lord. May they have sensed His presence in your home yesterday and gone home pondering what was different….

A sweet young friend and her little family live in the Butte Valley. She is offering a space for anyone needing an escape during evacuation in Oroville. That fire is certainly daunting…praying for those who have lost and are evacuating.

We awakened to a 45 degree temp! It is slowly creeping up to the low 70’s.

I am praying fireworks nuts will have their hands stayed in the process of lighting them today in this forest. It’s unconscionable that people would be so selfish wanting to see a “spectacular” sight while placing so many in danger of a fire. The remembrance of my sister’s friend’s barn burning due to a firework set off by a neighbor still chills me. Scrambling to get horses to safety and watching your barn burn to the ground….sad.

  9. Happy 4th of July everyone. It’s hot here, very hot. Husband took the dog (Teddy) for a walk in the woods in the morning, and later we wanted to go for a ride in the car. But Teddy was so exhausted by the 4 mile walk earlier that he just rolled over on his back, closed his eyes, and gently pawed his front legs. He seemed to be begging not to walk again. So I scooped him up and put him in front of the ac. He seemed relieved. It’s the first time I’ve ever had a dog beg NOT to walk. 😀

  10. It’s 75 here, sunny, with humidity at 66% – but it was getting too warm for doing work on the patio so I came in for a while to open windows, turn on all the fans.

I’ll probably go out to get some more done a little later, but I’m already hearing random/rogue fireworks going off in the neighborhood so not a day to walk Abby probably.

Also been doing some laundry so I’ll carry on with more of that.

Do I know how to celebrate or what?

  11. Just had a loud flyover — connected to the visiting Italian tall ship.

Maybe the Italian Navy will help us out when we get into a jam. We may need them.

  12. aww little Teddy and his short legs! So good he knows his limits!

Haven’t heard any fireworks but it’s not dark yet. The Police have warned people the starting fine is 5000.00 if caught shooting off fireworks and there will be no excuses. Extra patrols are out.

It’s been a nothing doing day today. Tomorrow I finally secured an appt with my old stylist to cut this hair. Every time I get a cut I can hear Chas saying “what’s the fuss all about”?! How I miss his wit and wisdom….

  13. ’80s hair?

So police here have tried getting tough on fireworks but the problem is “catching them in the act” which is necessary. Not often likely to happen.

So they focus mostly on getting leads and tips that lead to folks who are “dealers,” who have garages or storage units filled with illegal fireworks they will either sell or otherwise use on the 4th of July.

That’s yielded some success — but random people just shooting them off doesn’t really get us too far.

  14. On Nov 5th, just like 248 years ago, we must stop this tyrannical government and once again bring back freedom for all. It’s time for citizens to band together, refuse tyranny, and fight for independence. Freedom has never been free.

And with gratitude, put God in first place. He is always with us…
