  1. Good morning on another beautiful sunshine day. Just in from morning Bible reading outside. Listening to the hunting dogs in pursuit of bear or lion, I was reminded of the constant yammering in the background of the things of this world I allow to pull my attention from the One worthy of all my attention. He has been working in me on keeping all thoughts captive and not wasting time with idle thoughts.

  2. It is supposed to be a lovely day here, too, with temps in the low-to-mid 70s, and low humidity. (Higher temps and higher humidity are on the way for the end of the week, though. 😦 )

Excited to be getting my hair cut in a little while! It has gotten longer than I usually let it, which would be fine in the colder months, but not for warmer weather. I’ve chosen a cute style that Nightingale once did for me. (She is very good at cutting my hair, but it makes her too nervous, so now she takes me to a place in town.)

  3. Today we wait for the HVAC people and then drive to nearby Winchester State Park to visit my two brothers and their wives where they are camping for the next week.

we waited for hvac a month or so ago. Called and were assured they were on their way. Called again two hours later only to learn that the two ends of the building don’t coordinate. Husband missed a call from the crew asking if we were home, returned the call within thirty seconds but had to leave a message as they were not yet open. Called again when they were open to confirm and was told they were on their way. But because he had not answered, they went elsewhere, so they are trying again.

  4. Raining today here. We were thinking of spending time outside, but the weather makes that not a good idea. We have plenty to do inside, so it is fine. Daughter will be flying out today.

  5. Sunny here….. I think……

Supposed to hit the 90s this week.

I just started a new course of medication for the pseudo gout. Once again on my back with much pain and difficulty using the left leg. So frustrating. This is the medication that makes my hair fall out, but I have no choice. Also frustrating.

Every time I start to make progress, this flares up. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Saturday will be the 6 month anniversary from when this all started after the first surgery.

I had hoped to be back on my feet and living g a normal cancer free life by now. I’m thankful for the cancer free part, praise God, but the rest is really weighing on me.

  6. Listening to a sermon the other day. The guy said CSLewis was asked if he had a soul. He responded with, “I am a soul, I have a body”. True that. These tents will wear out, our souls are eternal. Make certain you are taking care of your soul, feeding it, etc. God will get us fixed up for eternity.

  7. Above does not mean I am not praying for health for you, beloved brother! Health and well being to live out your days with family and friends! Distractedness leaves things unsaid, sorry about that. God is working on me taking every thought captive and is not done yet!

  8. So sorry to hear about the setback, AJ. I’m praying too.

Kizzie, you mentioned the Nokbox the other day. When I read about it last year I thought it was a great idea and seemed to be well thought out and packaged. But I was loath to spend money on packaged materials when I could assemble it myself with basic stuff.

But the fact is that, even with Mrs B’s nudging, I haven’t done much toward documenting everything she would need to know if I were gone. Worse still for the youngsters if suddenly both of us were gone. So I’ve just decided to go with the whole Nokbox package, including the folders and the box, to give us structure and make it easier for both of us to get it done.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

  9. Sorry to hear about that struggle, AJ. I so wish it could be easier.

I went on a short trip with two other church ladies to do volunteer work at the prison ministry this morning. We are trying to do this once a month. We had lunch on our way back at the Chick-fil-A/Dwarf House. I think there may not be too many Dwarf Houses around. They have a regular menu and some different foods from what is served at the fast food business side. The building itself has a little short red door in the front that children like to enter through. Adults, unless midgets, would have to bend over to go through.

I enjoyed a piece of grilled chicken, sweet potato souffle, kale sald, and muffins. It’s pretty healthy except the sweet potatoes were sweeter than I like.

  10. I haven’t gotten outside as often as I do some years, so I decided to make sure I get out every day in June.

Yesterday was a particular treat. Local news is buzzing about a bird that isn’t supposed to be here, a juvenile brown booby that is hanging out at the lake at a state park, and yesterday a friend and I went over to see it. Others had seen it flying around and catching fish, and we didn’t get to see that, but we watched it hanging out in a tree. Not a bird one expects to see in a tree (huge webbed feet), let alone a tree in Indiana.

  11. Remembering the struggles I had at times dealing with various matters after Hubby’s death, I would advise all of us to gather our important papers and information into one, easy-to-find place, and let our families know where to find it. Nightingale and I have to do that for each other.

Still have not come across the original copy of our marriage license. Hubby said he had put it in a safe place. Apparently, it is safe from me finding it.

Maybe I will go ahead and spring for the Nokbox to have a good guide in what I should do. I like the idea of the fireproof one. Even though it is more expensive, it could end up being worth it.

  12. Aj we’re sad to hear that this latest irritant is irritating!! I remember my doctor limping in the exam room with a boot on his foot…gout! He said is was the worst pain he had experienced. His wife got it after him and then he got it again. I don’t understand the ins and outs of it but I pray it leaves your body…quickly!

I drove into town and found a cute bird bath and a new hummingbird feeder…made in the USA! We’ve been seeing so many different types of birds out here that we have not before seen! Starlings are hunkered down in the bird box out at the back of the property. And after I cleaned the yellow pollen from the deck I noticed a sweet blackish bird with peach colors on his head and chest…he had just captured a moth for dinner!

The rain continues to skirt around us and we are in need of it! It rained in the Springs, Monument, Larkspur, Ellicott…but not on the Palmer Divide…trusting Him still!

We finally had our Wills redone a couple of weeks ago and are now making certain all of our documents are in one place. Our attorney was very thorough. I’m not as up to par on the financial comings and goings but I do know how to get to them. In some aspects I am very organized…then again there are those areas that are just overwhelming to me. Nj
