  1. Thanks for your prayers the other day. I emailed our local association president today, thanking her for all the encouragement she’s provided us local teachers in the group, and letting her know I was discontinuing my national/state/local membership. (They’re all tied together — one check for dues gets sent to the national organization first, then are apportioned to the affiliates.)

I didn’t specify any reason for leaving, but stated I enjoyed my time in the local and state levels, and made clear my departure has nothing to do with any of the fine colleagues with whom we’ve worked.

I feel a big weight off my shoulders. Thank you for praying.

Update (or maybe still speculation) regarding Kyle’s death: It sounds like he was the victim of someone with road rage. Kyle was shot twice while driving home (ironically, from a large Midwest metropolitan area with high crime), causing his vehicle to go off the road.

He was so close to his home in that tiny little town when the homicide occurred…

Thank you for continuing to join me in prayer for his family. One of his kids is 6 years old, close to the age Kyle was when I had him in class. I just can’t imagine.

  2. So glad you feel peace about leaving thr organization, 6.

    Lord,

You know how devastated that family is without the husband and father of the wife and children. It’s so shocking for everyone, even strangers like me, to hear of such senseless loss of life. You know all the details, Lord. I do pray for swift justice to help give some semblance of closure. Please help those who are presently consumed with grief. Bind their wounded hearts. Give them great doses of support from all sides. Please give them Your strength when they feel too burdened to go on. Please help the whole community that not only mourns the sadness of what has happened, but also feel a great sense of loss of safety they previously felt in their small town world.

I also ask for protection of 6’s family. Please help them in areas that You know they need help or encoutagement. Bless them with a good summer. Keep them safe from any illnesses or injuries.

Thank You for hearing our prayers over this and all our other concerns. I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. Thank you very much, Janice. The papers say the authorities have a “person of interest” in the case in custody for something unrelated, but haven’t elaborated beyond that.

Regarding my resignation — that’s probably not the right term, as I don’t hold any offices anymore — I anticipate at least one person will ask me why I’m not renewing. She’s the treasurer of our local association, and also co-owner of the studio where I work. She’ll see the list from national about who renews at our local, and will know later this summer (if she doesn’t find out earlier from our local president, whose son is a student of hers) that I will not have renewed.

Studio co-owner/LA treasurer is a very caring colleague who knows about the health challenges I’ve had the last year. She (R) will likely want to make sure I’m ok, and may be concerned that I might leave the studio, too, which I have no plans to do at this point. Conversation with her will perhaps open the door to why I can’t support the national association anymore.

R is not a Christian, but is always a thoughtful listener with any manner of things we discuss.

Continued prayers welcome in any future verbal conversations I have with her or other colleagues on matters of faith. The Holy Spirit, seemingly out of the blue today, while I was not thinking about membership matters at all right then, impressed on me just what to say in the email to the LA president.

I trust (at this moment, anyway — my own human frailty often gets in the way of my belief and confidence) that He will also give me the words I need for any and all future verbal witnessing opportunities, just as the words flowed rapidly onto the screen when I typed my email earlier.

    Praise be to God.
