  1. I have to agree, Janice, that some people just seem unhinged over Trump. I recently heard that some people refused to wear a red tie, because it is a ‘Trump’ tie! Seriously? Who even thinks of these things?

One of those talking like this was someone I heard bragging how he never watches Fox News etc. He gets all the truth from the MSM or whatever. You have to consider the source, but seriously, if you think any media is unbiased, you will be fooled. I watch plenty of events myself and I see the bias on supposedly unbiased media all the time. With AI we will need to be especially vigilant.

  2. Some media is more biased than others, however. 🙂 Some make their business model based on a particular bias, right or left, they make no apologies.

I think FoxNews has fallen out of favor on the right? Now it’s NewsMax?

CNN is leaning more left again now that the election is getting close.

I try to check a variety of outlets within reason (some I really just don’t bother with, I’ve never watched MSNBC or NewsMax).

It’s a very difficult election year, to say the least. And so many voters, still, prefer neither of the presidential choices put before them.

  3. I’m posting while watching one of the best and smartest offerings on Fox, “The Journal” — WSJ editors/reporters who discuss the political landscape every Saturday. As for print media, WSJ is my go-to choice for national news.

One of the best weekly discussion shows — Fox News Sunday (w/Shannon Bream, who also is an attorney) is also good though I typically don’t see that as it comes on when I’m at church (there’s probably a way to find it online later, but I haven’t tried that).

CNN offers political panels which can be good; and they do include Republican (and some pro-Trump) voices, though they are typically outnumbered by more liberal voices.

Still, the panel discussions do have some diversity.

None of it is perfect, it’s all flawed and there are “leanings.” But being aware of that going in, one can still learn a few things and get a broader perspective on the political news unfolding right now. It’s often helpful to challenge ourselves with views other than our own.

  4. To be fair about my Trump bashing friend, the same thing was true when I supported Bush and she hated him as President. I heard a lot of bashing then, too. I felt disrespected because I would not do the same to her. I have not heard from her just lately so am wondering if it’s politics or something else? Remember when everything got blamed on Bush? I’ve just gone through our t-shirt drawer to find some to be rid of. We are sending away the old shirt that pictures Bush with the caption, “Miss Me Now?”😀 Well past time!

  5. Janice, yes, you’re correct, Bush was very hated (listening to very hostile callers on a radio talk show driving home from work one day, I remember actually worrying someone would take a shot at him).

A new book suggests this spirit of “rage” in our culture began somewhere around the mid 20-teens and coincided (not surprisingly?) with the rise of social media being accessed widely on cell phones by then.

It’s on both the right and left and has come into the church community as well.

  6. Many on the far right, btw, now despise Bush and many other Republicans — perhaps more than they despise the left, or so it seems sometimes. 😦

The country is in a precarious place right now.

  7. I like Newsmax magazine but the channel does not quite live up to their motto of we bring you the news, you decide. Very opinionated and though loudly Christian, do not speak in very loving tones. But I like Greta. I do not watch Fox or CNN or MSNBC or the like. A bit of BBC for my more liberal news source. I look at what the real has to offer. I like World magazine but have not been a listener.

  8. I listen to a few podcasts on Rumble for some news occasionally. I don’t read magazines anymore. We watch Fox local news but rarely watch any other news because of our schedule. If some catastrophe happens I will try to watch other news, but I really don’t do well with finding anything using the remote. I have a friend who sends me news that interests her (she is conservative).

  9. I check out BBC as well, interesting to get a non-US view of what’s going on.

I have a few podcasts I’ll tune in to, if the topic is interesting to me.

I’ll look at X but pretty much ignore their wilder political posts; I follow a few folks on X that I respect. Others I respected have left the platform.

Folks all in their various “silos.”

  10. Finally, some sanity.

“The American College of Pediatricians just put out a 🔥🔥🔥 statement calling out all the major medical associations by name for pushing the gender transition craze on kids.

They ask for these groups to “IMMEDIATELY stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.”

    The full @ACPeds statement ⬇️

“Therefore, given the recent research and the revelations of the harmful approach advocated by WPATH and its followers in the United States, we, the undersigned, call upon the medical professional organizations of the United States, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the  Endocrine Society, the Pediatric Endocrine Society, American Medical Association, the American Psychological Association, and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to follow the science and their European professional colleagues and immediately stop the promotion of social affirmation, puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones and surgeries for children and adolescents who experience distress over their biological sex.  Instead, these organizations should recommend comprehensive evaluations and therapies aimed at identifying and addressing underlying psychological co-morbidities and neurodiversity that often predispose to and accompany gender dysphoria. We also encourage the physicians who are members of these professional organizations to contact their leadership and urge them to adhere to the evidence-based research now available.”

  11. Milley is a traitor.

“The Silent Insurrection of Mark Milley. Scorching piece by @KariDono laying out evidence that J6 was a Democrat plot. We knew General Mark “White Rage” Milley was being manipulated by Nancy Pelosi in frequent phone calls towards the end of Trump’s presidency but it was worse. Milley was “deeply engaged with a circle of confidants including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, former Obama National Security Advisor Susan Rice, and former Defense Secretary Robert Gates, among others—all of whom shared a unified disdain for President Donald Trump.”Milley vowed to “fight” against President Trump “from the inside”. He plotted to obstruct deployment of the National Guard to control J6 rioting.“Milley, who swore an oath to obey the orders of the President of the United States, embarked on a mission to defy the former Commander-in-Chief, and ultimately seems to have sabotaged President Trump on that day.””
