So what’s causing the moth clouds, is this a regular season of sorts for certain kinds of moths where you are?
It’s cool where I am, thankfully. I was looking at a map showing where the “heat dome” would be and it looks like we’ll miss it on the CA coast where I ams (for now anyway), thankfully.
It will be too hot here, but almost everyday, except in the coldest in winter is too warm for me. It has been even a bit warm for my husband, though. Storms coming through today and tomorrow. I will see if my new tall planters stand in strong wind.
It’s raining currently with 83°. Actually, I think with this scattered thunderstorm (does one moment of thunder count for a storm?), I think it must be in the 70s outside.
We had our regular prayer call today, and I have the new Bible study tonight. Will be interesting to be in a new group. Streching out my comfort zone.
More wind, rain, thunder . . . it made it up to storm level fast. Thankful I won’t have to water plants, but the grass will need mowing sooner. Tradeoffs . . .
Every May/June the miller moths migrate from KS/NE/OK heading to our mountains. They hang out here for a couple months and are extremely annoying. But they are bird food and pollinators. They leave red poo on everything! This year is especially awful…a bazillion of them!
Oh, miller moths I like (but not in the gazillions!).
I continue to battle, off and on, those little clothes moths here (open back door for Abby off and on) but sometimes the large miller moths come in. I don’t mind them but sadly they wind up getting caught in my small-moth traps 😦 Kind of sad seeing them in there, they aren’t the target but they seem to fall for (onto and into) the traps. 😦
But so do mosquitos and the occasional fly, which is all good.
Just finished the summer event round ups for the waterfront areas. LA Fleet Week may be over, but scores of other things right around the corner. Shakespeare by the Sea, free boat tours, midnight grunion beach runs, tall ship sails, classic car shows; Italian 5k happened this past weekend.
No moth festivals, but a couple pride events.
And, of course, lots of fireworks over the water. Which probably violates an environmental rule somewhere. Neighboring port city already is switching to drone shows.
The moths sound terrible. Some areas here get tons of Mayflies. A bridge near one of my daughters, will sometimes have to be plowed. We have gotten army worms by the thousands, but thank the Lord, not for years now. Nature can be interesting, but not always nice.
Good morning, with another beautiful sunshine day in Idaho.

96 degrees expected here. I’m hot already and it’s currently only 60.
Strawberries will be ripe by the end of the day! LOL
