🙂 God’s in his heaven, all will be well (even when it doesn’t really seem like it)
😦 Called Abby “Cowboy,” then “Tess,” before I finally hit on the right name this morning. It still happens now and then. Miss those guys. And Annie Oakley, it was kind of a golden era of the best pets for me.
🙂 Glad to hear about the girlfriend (see Janice’s list above). 🙂
😦 Happy Pride Month emails coming in today from government officials. The world is what it is, always was the case, just the issues change.
😦 I’m still tearful whenever I think about Cowboy and Tess and Annie. It will be two years come July since I lost the dogs, about a year and a half since I lost Annie.
😦 This troubled election season that is creating division. May we remember to Whom we belong, first and completely. I want to strive not to be part of that division.
Please pray for a friend, K, who’s been homeless for several years but wound up in a hospital (about 50 miles away) where doctors were somehow able to convince her to take at least of of the psych meds she needed (she’s been diagnosed with schizophrenia but refuses to accept that).
She stayed at the hospital (she called me several times) for maybe 3 weeks (she had some serious sores on her legs they were treating) and now she’s back in town, has a motel room, and actually sounded good when she called me tonight. She does have a trust fund (her parents died in the early 2020s but she refused to accept that news until just recently) – her aunt handles the trust money, apparently – so K has found a small 1-bedroom apartment in town she’s hoping to rent.
Pray that she will continue on this medication (if she doesn’t I think she’ll wind up back on the streets). We’ve talked off and on through the last few years while she was on the streets (she managed to keep the phone) and it is just so good to hear her sounding like herself again. She has other friends here in town she’s in touch with as well. It all seemed so dire, we were afraid she’d die on the streets. Friends, counselors, homeless workers all tried repeatedly to get her inside somewhere for treatment but to no avail. So this has been encouraging, but it may not last.
Praying alongside. I believe this is the friend we have been praying for off and on for years? God is working in His time.
Daughter is also, along with her many other diagnoses, schizophrenic, as she displayed so clearly at her last hospitalization. She gets a shot once a month but refuses her other meds. She desires to be homeless in New York but so far, she is housed.
It’s so heartening to talk to her now, she sounds like herself. But I believe she still is probably in denial about her diagnosis; but maybe she can still be persuaded to continue on whatever medication they’re giving her (I recognized the name as something Carol was on for years).
The medication has side effects that seem worse than the disease once they feel better. It must be such a difficult thing to deal with for the patient, too. Prayers for both.
Kathaleena, side effects, yes. But she’s been sleeping and living outdoors on the streets for several years now, she has been punched in the face and had things stolen, arrested briefly, and I don’t know what else. 😦 I honestly don’t know how she survived.
Hoping she will continue on the medication (Risperidone I believe is what she’s on) — and praying that any side effects for her are minimal.

😦 Taking care of two older pets with special needs. (“Old” in Heidi’s case; “oldish” in Rudy’s, but he has a terminal illness.)
🙂 Loving those pets that God gave us.

And pray for her salvation; raised Catholic.
