  1. Good time to put up a thread, AJ! Most people here tend to post later in the day. We were up early to vote so Art could put in a full day at work.

Thanks, Jo, for the info about the books on sale.

i am looking to get a new phone. Suggestions?

  2. This is a normal time for me.

Abby and I enjoyed the return of our walks yesterday. And she was very easy to handle, thanks to all the catch-up she had to do in sniffing out many days of paw-traffic that she’d missed.

I always get iPhones, my current one is a 12; I’ve dropped it untold numbers of time over the maybe 4? years that I’ve had it, but only the glass screen protector has cracked, not the phone which has a pretty good case on it.

  3. Janice, is this “vote” for GA’s primary? I’ve completely lost track. CA used to be among the late voters but we moved ourselves up so we could be part of the majority of states. Can a national primary be far behind?

  4. AJ, hope you’re doing well today. Five surgeries is way too many. 😦 Good thing you didn’t know that going into all of this, eh? One challenge at a time, prayers for each as they come as Corrie ten Boom wrote.

~ Father sat down on the edge of the narrow bed. “Corrie,” he began gently, “when you and I go to Amsterdam-when do I give you your ticket?” I sniffed a few times, considering this. “Why, just before we get on the train.” “Exactly. And our wise Father in heaven knows when we’re going to need things, too. Don’t run out ahead of Him, Corrie. … ~

  5. We were voting for Georgia folks to fill Gdorgia positions. I voted for a county CEO and a superior court judge. I left all the questions and other poditions unvoted for because I had not done homework. This was the Democrat ballot so in the general election, I will be voting against the ones on this ballot if there is a Republican running against them. It really does matter who our county CEO is so we voted for that as ouf priority in this election. I think thed young judge in the Fani Willis case was on the Republican ballot bu not sure if for our district.

  6. I keep thinking the general election is close, but it’s not. I mean, I am thinking I need to go through my ballot … But of course it hasn’t even arrived yet.

Normally, in a heated election year like this (but has there ever been anything like this?) I’d look forward to it all being over. But I don’t think the national angst and drama will end with that, and it could even get worse.

    But!

There’s always Christmas! So I will focus on that.

Meanwhile, I have two doctors giving me conflicting advice: GP who says stay all off the knee, wear the brace as much as possible for 3 months(!)

And the orthopedic specialist saying just not a big deal, take an Advil, keep moving. The pain often subsides (but the tear won’t actually heal in his experience). If it gets worse, there are shots, PT and other less-than-surgerical options we can try.

Thinking of going to PT anyway (orthopedist wrote out an order for it) and maybe they can also give me some more practical guidance.

But for now I think I’ll lean more toward the orthopedist and see how it goes for a few weeks.

  7. In my personal experience, I damaged my hip about three months or so ago. Significant pain especially at night, almost to tears. Or when standing from sitting or when walking about. Did not go to the doc so no idea what the problem actually was. But I got back to riding my exercise bike three days a week, bow flex (including rowing) and elliptical the other three days. I quickly saw marked improvement. I also make certain I get up at least every fifteen minutes. Now, three months into it, I almost never notice it. Exercise, with the ortho approval is probably just the thing.

  8. But wondering if that means not weight-bearing exercise. I know when I went to PT for the first knee it was the stationary bike, rowing machine, and other things, but mostly non-weight-bearing.

  9. We still have not turned on the AC but will soon. I would love to keep the electric bill down until June . . . the fans keep the indoors fairly comfortable, but they do get noisy.

  10. Today was the last day for BSF. It was a lovely time of sharing. But even better were the hymns at the beginning and all through out the sharing. And we sing all of the verses. It was wonderful. I told someone that I want a hymn sing for my funeral and she said that she did too!! She is young and related to my family. how special

  11. I left bsf a little early so that I wouldn’t be late for my appointment with my chiropractor. I shouldn’t have worried, he was running late and I had to wait for close to an hour, and then it was his lunch time. I apologized for taking his lunch time and he told me what is food, no worries.

For a fifteen minute appointment, I think he gave me 35 minutes. I had my xrays on my ipad and he went over them with me pointing out what was wrong. He even got out one of his books to show me what it should look like.

We discussed the orthopedist and he knew him and the info wasn’t good so I won’t be going back. But he knew of two others and I will make an appointment with them

I showed him where I was feeling pain and he told me that a hip replacement would not take care of all of that. He said that I need an mri. My knee looks good, but xrays only show the bones and not the ligaments and tendons. He said his knee looks good on xrays but the mri shows all of the problems. The doctor who looked at it couldn’t believe that he actually walked into his office.

So I will continue to search and see what I learn. In two weeks I will be going to the pool and that should help. It is a gentle exercise.
