We attend a funeral today. Afterwards there will be pizza, ice cream and soda. This was the woman’s favorite meal. She was a wonderful Christian who supported her husband’s ministry with youth. He was her caregiver for a few years now. We can celebrate that she is surely with the Lord.
It’s been rainy in Atlanta to start the day but clearing now. If I walk today, I expect it will be muggy.
I am enjoying my new 4X magnifier for doing my Bible study workbook. It goes so much faster without the struggle to figure out each word.😃
Graduation was today at the school where son teaches. I think it must feel like Groundhog Day every year to get dressed in that robe and cap and go through it again year after year.
That does sound like a good movie, but I’ll wait for a streaming option.
Happy Saturday.
Guess I’ll give that knee brace another try today but after I spend some time on the stationary bike first.
Jo, you can always get a 2nd opinion. Probably a question basically of how long you want to wait for the surgery. My cousin had that surgery several years ago and I don’t think she’s ever regretted it. But no fun to be faced with that, I know.
Oh, my other piece of unsolicited advice on any surgery: Don’t read about the gory details, skip that part. As long as your doctor and the medical staff know how to do it, you’re all good.
Just figured something out on that MRI written summary/report on my other knee. I’d seen a statement up top labeled “Indication” and it said “chronic rupture of knee ligament” — then, in the body of the report, it said “small meniscus tear” but everything else, listed separately, said “normal”
Thanks to the Internet, I looked up what “indication” meant on an MRI report — and it’s only the initial suspicion by the doctor who referred me and ordered the test. Then I remembered also that the GP had said she thought it felt like a ligament might be “loose” when she first physically examined my knee.
So it looks like this is just the small meniscus tear with nothing else wrong, good news if I’m reading that all correctly. Will find out more from the orthopedic doctor on Tuesday (and I’ll ask him how this compares to my other knee, he probably won’t remember but should have my file to look at).
I’m sure it’ll be back to PT (which is fine, I’ve appreciated those sessions in the past) and the knee brace, then a re-check to see if it’s healing on its own. If not, we’ll go from there.
I think the athletes in my family have been living with a meniscus tear for some time . . . waiting to get old enough for knee replacement. 😦
I have to write something like 16 blog posts between now and mid-June. Two down today, a lot more to come.
We’ll be traveling from late June until early August. I have to have everything up and running. New Jersey for five days, home only one full day, and then off to Australia for almost five weeks.
Fortunately, we’ve had a woman living with us for several months and she’s happy to stay–along with her two cats.
Watching the three cats maneuver around each other is our usual evening amusement.
I also need to finish putting in the garden . . . but it was absolutely pouring rain this morning and is only now blue skies.
I should have done it yesterday.
Except, I was playing the part of the grandmother for the first time in a long time with the youngest grandchild. She’ll be going to kindergarten in the fall and life is just moving way too fast and I’m still way too busy.
Into the mud I’ll go tomorrow after church, I guess.
Time to cook dinner now.
And then we’ll celebrate the day by watching the original Star Wars–which came out the week I finished college–47 years ago next month!!!!!!!
My dad got up after going to bed at four. He has eaten supper and watching Lawrence welk. He was disappointed to learn it still is not Sunday. He wants to go to church. The people are really nice.
I’m staying in this morning, I can’t drive with the knee brace and it’s a bit of a walk through the large parking lot and beyond to get to the church building. I may wind up seeing if someone can pick me up temporarily, but I’ll know more about what I can/should and can’t/should not do after seeing the orthopedist on Tuesday.
It does seem that I’m dealing with this knee way sooner than I did with the other one (out of ignorance, basically). So this time I ‘caught’ it all quickly as I’d ‘been here’ before. Other knee had accumulate some other damage before I had it properly dealt with.
Sunny and windy here today, cool temps. But I did hear some rain overnight.
This came up in my Facebook Memories today. I wrote this three years ago. The situation seems even worse today. Sadly, I have seen otherwise kind Christian folks share posts against either Biden (mostly) or Trump (a couple) that were not only contemptuous, but often mocking as well.
~ “The more contemptuous we are of others, the more we are nurturing our own self-righteousness and not a humility before God.” (an indirect quote from a friend’s pastor)
There is so much contempt (and even barely veiled hatred) expressed from people on one side of political and social issues towards those on the other side. Conservatives will recognize this as referring to progressives, and progressives will recognize this as referring to conservatives. But people on both sides are guilty of this. ~
To clarify. . . I do not mean that all of the “kind Christian folks” on my friends’ list is like this, but there are more than there should be. Politics, especially the partisanship aspect, has poisoned much of our social media discourse.
It’s been a good and busy day here. Chirch and Sunday school remain a highlight of the week.
It rained today so I took the car through the driveway carwash. There is a point in heavy rain that the gutters overflow and I drive the car back and forth under that which is so much like going thtough a commercial carwash, except I get to keep my $25.
I’m not around any people who are at each other over politics. I guess I am fortunate. I have had a few discussions with my friend K that indicate we both live on different planets regarding where we get our news since what she believes is true is diametrically opposed to what I believe is true. She is basically a shut in, sadly, so is limited in what she can see first hand for herself.
I still see no political signs in the neighborhood except for a few for local officials. We get to vote for county CEO which in a large metro county, next to biggest in the state, is a BIG deal. We will vote for a Democrat in that race since no Republican is running. That election is happening right now.
As for political discussions/debates/beat-downs, I was thinking mostly of those on social media. But I have heard of those kinds of “discussions” happening face-to-face.
Hubby’s former work friend (and fellow believer) Bill even threw his own father out of his house one Christmas because they were arguing about politics.
I am not seeing any politics on my Facebook or Instagram friend’s posts. I occasionally I get something political sent by messager. I guess I know a lot of peaceful people. Most people made up their minds a long while back. No need to keep trying to change a firmly set mind on how to vote. Accept difference and move on.
As for the dearth of political signs and bumper stickers, I’d say there may be two explanations:
An unusually large segment of voters haven’t really wanted either Biden or Trump as the nominees — so a huge lack of excitement there. These are the disheartened independents.
Those who do have a favorite candidate between those two know that half or more of the country disagrees (and very emotionally so); who needs the grief of getting your car defaced or alienating your neighbor?
True, Dj, that here I see people voicing strong difference of opinion. It is the only place I see it openly expressed. I guess I am very fortunate diring these days. Praising God for His sweetness in protectoon from grief.
I told Art today that it looks like our church is about half black. He said not quite. That is sweet, too. It works when done righr and reminds of what heaven will be like with all the people who don’t look like us but bear God’s image the same as we do. Praising Him for all His wonders during this season.
Good morning, all.

Oh, why the garden if we won’t be home for half the summer?
Jennifer will eat out of it.
And we dug up the entire front yard and it’s now flowers–which are mostly planted, but still need the cloth and wood chips put down.
Sigh.
My husband’s idea. He had a huge load of top soil dropped off so now our flat front yard has hills and valleys.
Sigh.
I figured out the flowers.
He’s done the sprinkler system.
Cloth, wood chips . . . I’m grateful I have the ability to do the work.
Right? 🙂

It seems like the fallen world and our fallen human nature is on full display during this period in the US, doesn’t it? (Kizzie, @1:01).
And I agree, social media has provided the conduit. 😦
We should see this as a challenge to our faith, and none of us are beyond being tempted or occasionally falling to that temptation.

Well, I’d say the blog here has been quite, um, lively (understatement?) — ever since Trump managed to blow up the Republican Party? 🙂
It’ll all pass. (But not too soon for some of us!)
