There’s an interesting story at the American Experiment about Ilhan Omar living in subsidized housing 6 yrs. ago with her daughter, who now goes to Columbia U. Isn’t America an amazing place to live?
Of course, she won’t be arrested for her lying and misrepresentation.
No one in congress is arrested for their lying and misrepresentation. There is very little consequence for such behavior except to not get the support of their constituents. For the Speaker of the House, this translates into not getting the support of his colleagues who voted him in who now feel betrayed. I’m pretty sure they were as surprised as I was to hear him say he considers himself a war Speaker.
Deception and wrangling are to be expected I suppose. My biggest regret is that he is so closely and unquestionably aligned with Christianity. Given his deception, I would much rather he were not.
I believe if Mike Johnson finds himself unwilling to keep his word to those who supported him, he owes it to his faith to step aside and allow another vote. Perhaps he would be voted back in, perhaps not.
And since we’re fond of quoting scripture to support our beliefs, here’s a relevant one:
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. Rev 21:8 [emphasis added]
When anyone finds a biblical exception for sausage-making politicians, let me know.
This is a bit of good news for a change. It looks like the tit for tat between Israel and Iran may be over. Israel responded to Iran’s attack by shooting some drones into Iran near Isfahan and so their honor is satisfied. And Iran has said it will not counter-attack, so their honor was apparently satisfied too. Whew! It’s lovely when WW3 is averted….for the time being.

When Mike Johnson was elected speaker, there were 222 Republicans and 213 Democrats: a nine-seat majority that allowed Republicans to lose the votes of four members but maintain a majority.
Under Johnson, through both incompetence and corruption, that slim majority has only gotten slimmer. As of today, there are 218 Republicans and 213 Democrats. After the next impending GOP retirement scheduled for April 19, it will be 217-213.
That means that if just four Republicans were to resign — perhaps out of disgust with an obviously corrupt process or in protest of an attempt by GOP leadership to punish its own members for daring to represent the views of those who elected them—the House would be deadlocked at 213. Just four GOP resignations would deadlock the House. Five would end the GOP majority.
What would be the implications of a deadlocked House? First, a motion to vacate Johnson would almost certainly pass given the anger with Johnson for his border betrayal. Democrats would no longer have any incentive to rescue Johnson from the motion to vacate—a gambit Johnson is currently banking on to save his career. Plus, a Democrat vote for a GOP speaker in a deadlocked House six months away from an election would be career suicide. Democrat voters would understand the tactics of rehabilitating a pathetic GOP speaker already doing what they want in a world where Democrats don’t have the votes for anything better. But in a deadlock? No Democrats will be riding to Johnson’s rescue.
The result would be a truly deadlocked House and a motion to vacate that passes with all Dems and any number of Republicans. No Speaker. No more bills, because the House can’t pass legislation without a Speaker. No more Ukraine money. No more FISA. Washington is officially shutdown and Uncle Sugar’s pockets are closed until next year.
What would be the legislative downside for fee members who resign in protest? There wouldn’t be any. Johnson, Schumer, and McConnell already decided no conservative priorities will ever be enacted and that the regime will get what it wants no matter what. This is the universe of possibilities that Mike Johnson has created for himself. Is he smart enough to understand what happens if he follows through on his threats and betrayals? We’ll find out soon enough.”
He’s clearly been working for Democrats for months. It’s why all the bills he rams through have more Democrat votes than GOP votes. He’s a handmaiden of the Biden regime. https://t.co/WgjUwAMgH5
Johnson is feverishly working right now to get Democrats to save his speakership. He already gave away our border, so who knows what Republican priority he’ll trash next to buy Democrat support to save his career. https://t.co/4yGxQ3E2Hk
~ Bill Kristol: In 2012, President Barack Obama mocked Republican candidate Mitt Romney for warning about the geopolitical threat of Putin’s Russia: “The 1980s are now calling to ask for their foreign policy back.”
It turns out that we’re living in a world far closer to that of the Cold-War 1980s than to the world President Obama chose to imagine we inhabited in 2012.
But the situation that the current moment really resembles, though, isn’t so much the 1980s as 1948—the beginning of the Cold War, the beginning of a new and unanticipated era of foreign policy challenges and confrontations for the United States. ~
For those who may have missed it, since I shared this kind of late last night:
Turns out my suspicion was correct. The video was cut off before she went on to acknowledge that we all have prior opinions, but to her, the right to a fair trial is more important than her own prior opinions. But keeping that part in wouldn’t have worked so well to keep the current level of outrage stirred up.
She was excused due to not being able to take time off from her job.
The video was definitely cut that way to give a false idea of what she said. I have seen so many of those kinds of truncated and/or deceptively edited videos. It is done on purpose. (Not to say that D’Souza did that himself, but at the very least, if he shared it from elsewhere, he did not do any further investigation into it. And that, too, is a shame.)
As I wrote on Facebook when I shared that story there, this is “Just one example of why we should not trust the videos we see on social media, such as TikTok videos or reels, or even videos on other sites, especially if they are brief. They can be so very easily deceptively edited.”
The most enraging aspect of Mike Johnson’s border betrayal is his refusal to even acknowledge his myriad promises to secure the border first before funneling money overseas. He broke his word and now wants to pretend he never promised anything.
“The most enraging aspect of Mike Johnson’s border betrayal is his refusal to even acknowledge his myriad promises to secure the border first before funneling money overseas. He broke his word and now wants to pretend he never promised anything.
Matt Gaetz didn’t make him make that promise and then break it. Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t force Mike Johnson to promise to secure the border first. Thomas Massie didn’t make Mike Johnson promise to secure the border before funding Ukraine. Chip Roy and Eli Crane and Bob Good and the House Freedom Caucus didn’t force Mike Johnson to promise to secure the border first before sending money overseas.
Mike Johnson made that promise. He made it deliberately and he made it repeatedly. And now, instead of owning it and explaining why he changed his mind and broke his promise, he’s lashing out at anyone who dares point out that he broke his word.
He’s not a leader. He’s a disgrace, and he should resign. This country deserves better than a dishonest border betrayer who cares more about plaudits from CNN and Joe Biden and Chuck Schumer than he cares about the well-being of his own citizens.”
It’s intentional, and the media plays along with the lies.
FBI downplaying the increase in violent crime: “In reality, violent crime is up substantially from 2019 levels. In big cities, murder is still elevated — up 23% since 2019 across all 70 cities tracked by the MCCA and up 18% according to a 32-city analysis by the nonprofit… https://t.co/zri9SAooPO
.@SpeakerJohnson how are you not embarrassed with yourself right now? How do you look at yourself in the mirror every morning knowing you’re a bold-faced liar? https://t.co/FbXj9ynfJc
The question everyone should be asking is what deal did Speaker Johnson make with the Hakeem Jeffries to get the Democrats on the Rules Committee to vote for a Republican rule on the foreign war package which includes $60+ BILLION more to Ukraine?
So glad for Sidney Powell! People like Ms. Powell and Jenna Ellis stood up for truth and justice, but they have to go up against a rigged (Deep State) system. Great to see at least some measure of vindication…
“Sidney Powell, a lawyer who filed lawsuits after the 2020 election, got a win in Texas after an appeals court ruled that the Texas bar did not prove that she engaged in misconduct or fraud.
A panel of judges on the Fifth District of Texas Court of Appeals in Dallas ruled Wednesday that the state bar’s arguments lacked merit and evidence. They found that state bar prosecutors “employed a ’scattershot’ approach to the case” that had alleged Ms. Powell did not have a reasonable basis to file lawsuits that challenged the 2020 election’s outcome in battleground states.
“The Bar employed a ‘scattershot’ approach to the case, which left this court and the trial court ‘with the task of sorting through the argument to determine what issue ha[d] actually been raised,’” Justice Dennise Garcia wrote in the court’s ruling. “Having done so, the absence of competent summary judgment compels our conclusion that the Bar failed to meet its summary judgment burden.”
A separate court had sided with Ms. Powell in the case last year, finding “numerous defects” in the evidence presented by the State Bar of Texas Commission for Lawyer Discipline. The court also found that the bar couldn’t provide evidence that she filed frivolous lawsuits.
“Under these circumstances and on this record, we conclude the trial court did not err in granting Powell’s no-evidence motion for summary judgment,” the appeals court wrote.”
Institutional capture is a huge problem in America. Leftists have taken over the leadership of the Bar, med schools, journalism schools, editorial offices at most publications and news rooms, and the results are that bias and incompetence rule. It’s sad.
