Pray for my neighbors who are under an increasing amount of stress that’s leading to depression. The latest is that their homeowners insurance isn’t being renewed (for the house here but also for their other get-away house in the desert).
Homeowners’ insurance issues are becoming a major concern in our state right now as companies leave the state and cancel existing coverage in some cases.
Not being renewed in YOUR town? In the city? We’re seeing this all over in our community–and are hoping we’re not next.
It’s the legislature, once again, in bed with the CPUC and PG&E.
All this screaming about the need to build affordable housing, and people who HAVE housing are losing their insurance right and left.
Of course, if you have a mortgage, you HAVE to have insurance (which no one in their right mind would go without anyway).
So, people who are used to paying, say $2500 a year, are finding insurance rates are now closer to $10K and up for the much poorer version of California State homeowner’s insurance which, of course, scarcely covers anything.
It’s a debacle, disaster, tragedy and guess who is responsible?

Company has cited their 2 claims in recent years (water leaks in each house); looked like initially their insurance payment would double, but from what she told me the other night now they’re not being renewed at all. They don’t know what to do. 😦
My insurance went up but I’m grateful I still have it.
Dj are these the neighbors who have had the knee challenges as well as a stroke? Praying for them. The golden years aren’t quite so any longer. How is your cousin?
Insurance is a huge issue in CO. I hate to think of how much our bill will be in June…just on the heels of our property taxes doubling this year.

Yes, same neighbors. They’ve been hit with so much in the past 3-4 years. I’m going to check with my elder, we have a former insurance agent in our church (though he may now be with our sister church), they really don’t know where to turn and don’t know where to begin with any information search online. She’s one who used to literally drive or walk all over town delivering their monthly bills via check or cash in person every month, they aren’t particularly computer savvy.
Cousin is good, thanks for asking — she’s home, we texted yesterday and I’ll give her a call today when work lets up. (I hesitate to call and wake her up in case she’s napping, so texting seems a good option for these first couple days until she’s back on her feet more.)

Prayer for daughter who is making her every two weeks trip from North Dakota to hear, bringing the borrowed trailer and the children for her visit. She is having a medical emergency in Butte. We are not in the loop but bits of info we have had come in, indicates she is about two plus months from delivery. She appears to not want us to know so we don’t know if this is a surrogacy case (she and her sister had discussed the money to be had in selling babies) or for her brother and sis in law or for herself and boyfriend. So if it is an early delivery we do not expect to be told. God knows how to pray.
