  1. This really steamed me when I read this—not because of the declaration, but because it took so long:

    “ The Vatican on Monday declared gender-affirming surgery and surrogacy as grave violations of human dignity, putting them on par with abortion and euthanasia as practices that reject God’s plan for human life.”

    The Catholic church has usually given much needed institutional and intellectual cover for those conservatives opposing abortion or other injustices.  But it took 5 years for the Vatican to write a 20 page paper condemning the mutilation of children and confirming the fact that men and women are not biologically interchangeable.  FIVE YEARS.  How many women had to be raped or children mutilated before these ‘holy’ men could come out against the theory that made these situations socially acceptable?  Political motivations cause our leaders to do all manner of perverted things that greatly damage the weakest among us. But I guess I should be thankful they spoke out at all considering the church members in good standing with the Vatican that fully support these perversions.

  2. Yes, and they seem to be declaring it as certain countries are already starting to reject the practice on children. Although, the pope’s opinion never is more important than scripture. It is only important because so many listen to it.

  6. Dems always project their crimes unto others. Trump did none of these things, but Biden sure has.

  8. I am glad the Vatican issued that statement; I agree it took much too long (to speak up on something that so biblically obvious); and I was a bit surprised they issued it at all with the leanings if this particular pope.

    There were undoubtedly opposing voices that had to be vetted in the process. While there are still more orthodox voices within the Roman Catholic church, it has drifted far afield in these past decades, especially under this current pope.

    But rejoicing, belated though it was.

  9. Our sermon yesterday looked at the argument of “But I was born this way” when it comes to the culture’s turn in a direction contrary to Scripture, looking in part at President Biden’s statement on Easter (and how the president used biblical language to affirm some truths but it appeared mixed with an affirmation of unbiblical behavior)

    From the sermon:

    ~~~ “I do pray that in our discussions revolving around human behavior, we never lose sight of the biblical fact that those with whom we might disagree are made in the image of God. They may not think that. They may reject the whole idea of God. But we should not.
    “So, the president does not err when he speaks of all people being made in the image of God. And there is certainly some kernel of truth when he adds the moral imperative of “respect and dignity.” I say kernel of truth because it depends on what he means by that. If he means we should speak respectfully, acknowledging the value of the humanness of that person to whom we are speaking, I do hope we would all affirm.
    “Regardless of how foul we might find human behavior, there is an overarching, biblical method which should never be ignored:
    ‘Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good’ (Romans 12:21)
    ‘But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you’ (Luke 6:27, 28)
    And through those opportunities for discussion, the sermon pointed out, “we should seek to master” this also:
    ‘Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city’ (Proverbs 16:32)”
  10. There clearly is an internal battle going on within Rome. I (and some others here, I believe) have dear friends in that church who we know (as much as one can) to be believers. In my friend’s case, she’s unlikely to leave the church. She and many like her have been burdened with a pope (whom they look to) who has steered the church leftward and contrary to some biblical teachings.
    Pray for wisdom and direction for the RC church, that God would be gracious and turn back that unbiblical trend that now has such a foothold. There will be a new pope chosen at some point (and likely in the fairly near future).
  11. Mumsee, I posted this late last night:
    ~ “Mumsee – That’s why it is good to look into what other sources are saying about a matter. Too often, one side will present only the facts that back up their view, leaving out information presented by the other side that can give a different slant to the matter.
    When I say “one side”, I don’t mean that only one side does it. Both sides do that. It is far easier to see when the other side does it than when our own side does. And we tend to think the other side is much worse than our side for doing the very same thing.” ~
  12. I just read an interesting article in Fortune. The headline was:
    “Jamie Dimon says America ‘slept’ while China stealthily established itself as an economic powerhouse”.
    A better headline might have been :
    “Financial cowboy complicit in collapsing the economy in 2008 now blames everyone else for allowing his wall st cronies to send factories to China which is now an economic powerhouse ”
    You can’t make this stuff up. Might as well laugh.
  13. The statement about women’s sports not progressing strikes me as so odd since the transgender movement has sent things backwards with women having to compete against men. We know who is the author of confusion.
