  1. Good morning, all. Another beautiful day here. We played two and a half hours of corn hole yesterday. Even moved the game onto the lawn in the shade as it was too warm on the deck. Maybe we will play some cornhole today.

  2. Kathleena,

Loved the pics on Facebook. Looks like you all had a great time. So what did you think of the arc? The pic of Ralph on the inside looked cool.

Also the one of the meerkat looking at your grandkids in the glass tank cracked me up. It looked like they were on display at the zoo and the meerkat was the visitor. 😆

  3. I have an appt on Wednesday for another type of imaging to determine what’s going on with the leakage between the kidney and stoma. The output seems to be increasing instead of decreasing, which is concerning.

I’m starting to feel like I may be ready to start using the cane again instead of the walker. Trying to increase my activity every day. Progress is slow, but it is happening.

Once again thank you all for your prayers and encouragement. It means a lot to us.

  4. Cheryl, looks like a good article.

Port news conference assignment today, actually good for a Monday when you’re faced with trying to find a story at the start of a new week.

    Coffee first.

  6. One thing this doc mentioned was the store for the visually impaired, a non-profit, near downtown. A pastor’s wife from a former church had told me about it this past week. I never knew! It has many helpful items and resources to assist those in need. Maybe after tax season I can go there.

Kizzie, I was friends with a lady who was widowed and she belonged to a social group dedicated to helping widows adjust to their new situation. Perhaps your community has such a group so you could ask them for help, too. It was not connected to church. I think they even occasionally had dances where widows could meet widowers. I have not thought about that in years.

  7. We are back to cold winter weather and snow is being predicted for the weekend. Most are now ready to stay in spring mode.

The ark was quite interesting. We spent many hours there, inside and out. There was some discussion about whether this or that could be true by one of the teens. That is a good thing, IMO. It was set up very nicely with a lot of benches, plenty of bathrooms and food areas. The food prices were reasonable. I should have gotten a picture looking down the three stories. There were no stairs, but long slanted walkways. The gospel was prominent at both the Ark and the Creation Museum. There was too much reading to actually read it all, at least for those of us looking after young children, one of which likes to run off. They have books that you can buy to read what is written, however.

There was a nice outdoor, inclusive playground and lots of animals for the smaller children. We bought a couple of books for our youngest to discover things. It is not meant for really young children, but everyone found something interesting.

There was a beautiful display on the growth of the fetus and preciousness of life in the womb in the Creation Museum. There was a comparison of different viewpoints. The insect display was amazing. Very similar to the National Museum in DC.

Everyone was very helpful and polite. That includes the people all around us. When I first walked into the Ark Encounter entry building, I set the alarm off. I had no idea until the guard asked me for my sunglass case. I was putting the sunglasses into it as I walked through. The guard mentioned that he thought that was what set the alarm off, so he had me go back through the metal detector without it. Sure enough, I didn’t set it off. Not sure why that was.

Janice, my eyes are still terrible. I am using a lot of drops, but it doesn’t seem to help much. If I would have known, I may have put off the surgery until it was desperate. I have to go back again to the doctor in a couple of weeks. I am praying for better vision.

  8. Sounds like a fun time, Kathaleena.

sorry to hear about the eye troubles. In the case of knee replacement, my husband had an excellent outcome with both knees. But his brother and many others have reported a long painful recovery, some with no pain free days. Every body is different. It is difficult to decide what to go through and when. For myself, I will probably procrastinate until I get done with the whole thing.

  9. So sorry to hear of your eye situation, Kathaleena. Occasionally I think how different my life was before the vision issues. I didn’t have a clue I would have a problem like this. Neither of my parents ever had cataract surgery. I thought it would be a breeze as Dj experienced. Thankful it works out like that for some. My eyes do have more than just the cataract surgery thar ia causing problems. I have a friend who has onfection in her eyes that causes and oily substance to accumulate. It sounds really awful. Who knew? She said she has compassion for me now that she did not have before. All these various sufferings do contain hidden gifts from the Lord.
