  1. The best kind of gift. They are beautiful.

No snow here and we could use it.

Yesterday we had some errands to run. It was crazy busy everywhere we went, including the library. Apparently, there was no school. The restaurant was also full. I observed that it seems the senior citizens all waited for the warmest day of the week and then came out like the flies do in our houses.

  2. Funny comparison, Kathaleena!

I had a weird morning at Publix. Someone took my buggy after I had shopped for my produce. They got it while I was shopping for apples. There was no other buggy around they could have mistaken mine for. It vanished. I had to start all over.

I finished in produce and was two aisles over when I heard a very loud black guy speaking angrily in produce usng ‘MF’ laced speech and it sounded like a racial issue. I was afraid he might have a gun. I hid behind a tall turning rack of books and pulled out one about teaching the Bible to children. Quick reminder of God’s presence.♡

Later as I checked out with a cashier I have known for years, I told her about losing my buggy and the commotion in produce. She had heard the loud guy and said she didn’t know what it was abput (this is a smaller neighborhood store). Then one of two black guys at the end of the next lane said, “It wasn’t about you, S.”

Just sayin’, Atlanta’s got a lot of weird going on these days . . .

  3. Beautiful flowers, lovely spontaneous gift (the best kind)!

We had a smattering of rain overnight and that was about it from the massive storm going through north-eastern California this weekend.

Gearing up at work for the busy and usually chaotic election week. I’m day shift this time (much preferred, at least by me) but will be what we call the quarterback handling all reporter requests on Election Day/Tuesday for questions we have for the registrar’s office regarding any glitches or issues at polling places. So it still could be a busy day shift, depending. But I escape the much-more hectic shift that usually doesn’t end until around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

I still need to finish filling out my ballot and get it delivered to a voting center today.

  4. We are supposed to get a blizzard later today and on into Monday. Last time they forecast this much snow we only got 2 inches. Hoping the 10 inches comes through as we really need snow for the farmland and the forest.

I had a sinus CT at the hospital yesterday. Scary place. I walked right into a situation in the lobby with an inebriated shirtless man yelling and fussing, security and paramedics everywhere. The emergency waiting room had spilled over into the lobby with waiting patients. And those who aren’t sick get to walk through all the germs – ugh. Needless to say, I sent another prayer up specifically for my daughter who is a paramedic and sees a lot of stuff in her work day. Then, they wheeled a patient in a bed right through all the waiting people and past the main doors. I would have NOT liked to be that person with everyone staring at me! It was pretty awful.

We are slowly making progress on the main bathroom reno. Tim is stabilizing the drawers in the beautiful antique sideboard that we are using for the vanity and then we’ll get the sink mostly installed. Once the vanity is ready, we will finish gutting the bathroom and get the flooring installed, install the bead board wainscoting and trim, paint the whole room and then install the new toilet (with smooth sides for easier cleaning!!), and then the vanity and new sconces which will go on either side of the antique mirror my sister’s friend found for me. I think it’s going to look so good. Sure hope so.

  5. That bathroom sounds like it will be awesome, Kare. Love bead board wainscoting which I also put in mine (mine is white).

But my bathroom is about as large as a postage stamp so I went almost all white with black contrasts (and very pale blue walls above the wainscoting), no room for a vanity, just a round pedestal sink which fit the early 1920s when my house was built.

Wished there had been room for a clawfoot tub, it surely once had one when the house was built, but it looked too complicated (and probably too expensive) so I have the regular cast-iron drop in tub (smallish) but it can all be covered by an heriloom-style, closed white eyelet shower curtain.

  6. “Commotion in produce, commotion in produce” — I can almost hear that going out over the market announcement system.

Glad it sounded worse than it was, but it did have me laughing a little bit 🙂 -dj

  7. Thanks, DJ, my bathroom will be a pretty green (with blue grey tones). The bead board will just be on the one wall behind the toilet and vanity. I’m pretty excited.

We spent half the day going through the drawers and medicine cabinet, cleaning it all out in preparation for ripping things out. I threw out stuff that expired in 2010!!! That was before we even moved here. I guess I need to go through my husband’s stuff more often🤣😂

  8. last week I found the MacArthur daily Bible NASB. On kindle and have been reading it morning and evening

he divides the reading into old and New Testament and psalms and proverbs. You only read a short few verses of the latter to spread it over the year

    I am enjoying it

time to get ready for my next flight

  9. once upon a time, the produce grocery cart thief was me.

Fortunately, I had ended in produce (I usually start there), and then went to checkout.

I’d placed apples, oranges, lettuce on the counter when I saw all sorts of items I never buy.

That’s when I realized my mistake.

    What do I do now?!

I grabbed back what the cashier had begun ringing up, tossed it back in the cart, and scurried back to produce where a very bewildered man stood looking around.

I grabbed my oranges, apples, and lettuce, apologized, laughed, and saw my cart by the bananas.

He was a good sport about it, but I?

    Felt like a fool.

  10. I was in Kmart once, maybe 25 years ago, on my way home from work. I shopped for 30 or 45 minutes, went to get another item, and took it back to my cart . . . which was missing. I walked a good part of the store, never did find my cart, and had to start shopping all over again. It was frustrating since I didn’t know the store well and wasn’t shopping with a complete list. (Eventually I stopped shopping that store, as I had all my hubcaps stolen and thought it probably happened in that parking lot.)

  11. Wow, a lot of grocery cart tales, and I could see how it would (accidentally) happen. Not sure what the advantage would be if the stuff wasn’t already paid for though.

No snow shovels on the coast, of course, but we’ve had a blast of it to the north. Did Jo get the impacts of that?

I’m running late this morning, off to church shortly. -dj

  12. I’m thankful that we got our groceries on Friday since the snow is really coming down. The wind was pretty bad earlier but is calmer now. We did not go to church due to the weather.

  13. The wind is howling here. We awakened to a bit of new snow on the ground but it quickly melted.

The message brought forth from our Pastor was again so well presented. We had pot luck breakfast after the service and the conversation was sweet. Now for a Sunday nap….

The flowers up there are so beautiful!😊

  14. I’m feeling sad. My daughter told me she told her husband she was done with the marriage. He came and got the rest of his things

she was driving me to the airport. I waited a bit and just said that makes me sad

in some ways I already knew. Looking at her house I could see it was only hers. And the five girls

  15. on Friday evening her daughter had a birthday party. Somewhere in a field with a bonfire she left to take the foster girl there

the next day granddaughter said how scary it was that all the cops came and they ran

I asked why they ran. Turns out there was alcohol involved

I felt like calling and turning them in

    just me

  16. That is sad. I was thinking about how sad it still is that my brother divorced his wife of 33 years. Even now, as her funeral is planned, the divorce affects everyone. She was so forgiving and made it as easy as possible for the grown children and grandchildren, so they did do holidays together often. If they had not divorced, I believe a lot of the problems stemming from the care of my mom would never have taken place. Such are the affects of sin, rippling through the ages.

  17. I went down a different street on my walk today. I went past the house where son and I visited for play dates when he was three. The tree out front is massive. Then I thought of the house next to that one where a two-year- old had died in the swimming pool. I did not know the people who lost the child, but some things you never forget.

I am sad to hear your news, Jo. I guess it is best you got it at the end of your trip.

The pastor mentioned looking on AI and asking the question about how a Christian can practice their faith in the city and hr got a pretty generic answer with no mention of Jesus. When he asked the same question about a Muslim he got a very detailed answer with many specifics.

  18. Stopped at a traffic light on the way home from church today I saw a young woman crossing the street in front of me in the crosswalk. She was wearing a backpack that had mesh sides and inside was the cutest little cat that was just bouncing along for the ‘ride,’ peering out at the world.

Made me smile and go “Awww.”
