In local news, an illegal alien has been arrested with strong evidence that he killed the UGA nursing student. I feel sick over it all. Such a fine young lady. Prayers for the family and friends of Laken Hope Riley, age 22.
Good morning all. Another beautiful day here. The young folk are out cleaning the chicken runs, husband is packing for Boise, my dad is sleeping through a basketball game, and I am down from my exercise room. Another day.
I saw that report, Janice. It is beyond sad about that young woman.
It is beyond sad that there are people who are letting anyone and everyone into our country. People we have no idea of their backgrounds, health situations etc. These people have blood on their hands, IMO.
I am sad for those who truly are fleeing for their own lives.
Because it was random, it could have been my friend’s granddaughter who runs there.
The campus police are saying it’s safe now that they have the guy in custody. But how many more like him who have seen how easy that was will now do likewise. They do not live by the laws of our nation. They have not been punished for entering illegally.
What a juxtaposition that student loans are being forgiven to buy votes for this lawlessness. At least more students seem to be thinking about good and evil and will be seeking to know more about God. There was an unrelated suicide on campus during the same 24 hours of the murder so the students have been shaken thoroughly.
Attended a memorial service this morning, will attend a 1 year-old birthday party later today, and a 90 year old surprise party tomorrow.
All with friends from former church.
I also get to attend a gymnastics meet in lieu of church tomorrow, and watched the basketball player and his team lose last night.
It’s a beautiful day here, I’d rather be out playing in the yard, but friends and family . . .
I did finish writing my paper on Friday, and just have to figure out the abstract part, and how to include the citations via the Chicago Manual of Style.
I also finished reading my friend Sarah Sundin’s Embers in the London Sky–a WWII historical romance that takes place during the Blitz.
The scenes reminded me, alas, too much of Ukraine’s on-going horror.
We see quite a few giant fish in little towns in MN and WI, but I had no idea there was one for lutefisk. Lol about the Lutheran song. I have friends who love lutefisk and many who wouldn’t touch it. I have never had it and don’t plan to either. I didn’t realize there was a Madison, MN until a recent news story. We have never been there.
The potato hotel is cute. We have a bible camp that had cabins representing fairy tales. There is a pumpkin cabin still there. Their newer cabins are more modern.
There is another town on the North Shore of Lake Superior that has a giant chicken. Whoever put it there long ago is gone. I don’t remember the history right now.
I cut my time on the Blue Ridge Parkway short yesterday. It was snowing and windy. No problem. But then I realized that I wasn’t in my car, but an older model belonging to friends. Seemed wise to get to lower elevations. Still a beautiful drive.
And then when I finally reached my temporary home and was bringing in my bags, there was a gorgeous full rainbow over all of Jaars.
Good morning, all. No word yet on if my dad is up to church. but if not, with husband off to Boise, I will need to head in with daughter’s meds and money and to drop off a job reference paper with daughter so son will stay with him.
No, Janice, I have not heard of the potato bed but did see pics of the traveling potato. I am glad they put it to use. Locally, we have a dog park with a large wooden dog and some doghouses as sleeping rooms. I think the dog may have rooms upstairs and downstairs.
We sang “All Creatures of our God and King” today and also ended with the Doxology.
Encouraging part of our sermon (on Luke 2:41-51) with our pastor speaking of his own children and they are not perfect by any means. “But they are mine, and I will love them, fight for them, defend them and continue to seek to instruct them; how much more the love of God for the body of Christ.”
Actually, his kids (2 boys, 2 girls) seem pretty perfect, gorgeous, sweet and branching out into establishing successful adult lives of their own — it was his comment that they (like all of us) are not “perfect” or faultless.
We had parent/child dedication day at church. The pastor did an intetesting sermon on baptism, based on scripture, and told about different practices of denominations.
i made the strawberry bars to carry to Sunday school but someone had brought in doughnuts. We don’t coordinate when we bring in things. I bring when I feel up to rising early to bake. I try to bring healthy food, but most prefer the unhealthy fare. It is good to offer options.

Evil is becoming more and more pervasive, though it has been working since the Garden.
Somebody once said, “good will be called evil, and evil will be called good.”
We have well entered that arena.

I attended the spud bowl once in Driggs, dressed ad Elvis Presley.
I did not win the costume prize—an annual ski pass.
My husband wore moose antlers.
He didn’t win either—but we got our picture taken beside a giant potato.

It’s a game of ‘who’s who’ here.
We sang “All Creatures of our God and King” today and also ended with the Doxology.
