  1. Alabama declaring frozen embryos to be children will bring much discussion. Scientifically, there is no reason to suggest these are not human beings, just as is true about any unborn baby. The further thinking is removed from truth, however, the more the furor when truth is declared. The more we think we lose from truth, the less we are likely to accept it as truth.

    And so it goes.

  3. We know a girl–now 20–who was conceived through IVF via her mother’s frozen eggs.

She has a brother and sister–twins–who are 12 years older than she is.

As a matter of fact, she IS genetically a triplet.

Doing fine, majoring in engineering, and has lived happily ever after.

My daughter’s close friend was a test-tube baby all those years ago. She, too, is a twin.

It’s all those “snowflakes” (which is what the above girl really was. At the time of her “implantation,” she was the oldest egg who successfully grew into a heealthy child), that are a concern.

All those embryos awaiting an implant.

And no one ever talks about the health issues that can affect the egg “donors.”

    They’re awful–not to mention emotionally . . . challenging.

  5. Of course Nimirata won’t drop out. She still has all that sweet Dem donor money to plow thru….

  6. I don’t know if the “Readers added context” was there when it was first posted (those often pop up later), but it says, “Eligible blood donors who received a live attenuated COVID-19 vaccine or do not know what type of COVID-19 vaccine they received must wait two weeks before giving blood.”

AJ’s use of Nikki Haley’s first name reminds me of a “reel” I saw shared on Facebook not too long ago. As the man talked, and with the emphases he used, I realized that he was trying to tap into a racist, or similar, kind of underlying attitude in his viewers. He repeated her first name and her maiden name (Nimarata Randhawa) slowly, at least a couple of times, emphasizing the foreign sound of it, and accused her of making up “Nikki” to sound more American. He referred to her parents as using her as an “anchor baby”.

(BTW, I am not implying that AJ was doing this, only that his comment reminded me about this.)

Being put off by his attitude and tone, I did a little reading on her. Turns out that “Nikki” is her middle name, and she has been called that since birth. As for her parents using her as an “anchor baby”, they were both already professionals. They had first moved to Canada due to a scholarship offer for the father, who became a professor of biology. Her mother had a master’s degree in education, taught for a few years, and then opened a women’s clothing boutique.

  7. @9:45 — thanks, Kizzie.

Haley is getting some very nasty treatment from the Trump contingent. And maybe we should start calling it “anti-social” media. 🙂 -dj
