  1. I did see your comment, Kizzie. I just don’t see how it would negate, rather than reinforce. At any rate, if the ads are to the general public, I am not sure how much they would distinguish between Christian groups, except for media bias. I don’t have strong feelings about the ads myself and just shared the article as one way to see it. Truth and love must always be held together as Jesus did when he walked the earth. I don’t think that is easy for any of us.

  2. Just news stuff (via WSJ):

Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia, a 76-year-old centrist Democrat, said on Friday that he won’t run for president, ending months of speculation over whether he would mount a long-shot bid for the White House this year.

“I will not be seeking a third-party run, I will not be involved in a presidential run…I just don’t think it’s the right time,” he said.

Manchin made the announcement in a speech Friday at West Virginia University in Morgantown, W.Va. In the speech, he complained that the democratic institutions in the country were breaking down amid extreme partisanship and the parties were no longer able to work together to solve the country’s problems.

  3. “BREAKING: New York Judge Arthur Engoron has ruled that Trump defrauded banks by inflating his worth to acquire loans, he has ordered Trump to pay the State of New York $364 Million.

This is despite the fact that the bank Trump supposedly defrauded testified in support of him.

This case should fall apart on appeal. There’s no crime, no victim, and no damages.”

  5. “$360 million fine on a civil claim based upon a set of facts where no one lost any money.

    Absurd beyond belief.

Here is what the DC Circuit said last week:

Prosecutors have ethical obligations not to initiate unfounded prosecutions and “courts presume that they . . . properly discharge[] their official duties.”

There are additional safeguards in place to prevent baseless indictments, including the right to be charged by a grand jury upon a finding of probable cause.

[G]rand juries are prohibited from engaging in ‘arbitrary fishing expeditions’ and initiating investigations ‘out of malice or an intent to harass.’”

Additionally, former President Trump’s “predictive judgment” of a torrent of politically motivated prosecutions “finds little support in either history or the relatively narrow compass of the issues raised in this particular case….

“The proceedings in New York and Atlanta give lie to the ridiculous legal fiction.

And both provide a substantive backdrop for the very warnings Trump is giving to SCOTUS in considering the question of immunity for all the public policy reasons that justified the outcome in Nixon.

Who is SCOTUS going to believe — three judges on the DC Circuit or their own eyes seeing what is happening in New York and Georgia?”
