  3. Good morning, all. Beautiful day here.

Husband went to a road commission deal. I sent the two a mile up the road to meet him on his way back, so they could catch a ride to Lewiston for their voc rehab jobs. Seventeen started working in the library yesterday and he was thrilled to be shown some Civil War books from 1902. We were thrilled to hear there were two sets of eyes on him the whole time. He tends toward distraction especially when around any reading material. Sixteen is still doing startup work before receiving her assignment. Both are very excited to be working. Hopefully this will help them grasp the importance of working hard while at work. Working smart will do as well so long as the work is done.

  4. Happy Valentine’s Day. Interesting as it’s also Ash Wednesday.

Can he still have candy after the dentist visit, NJ? 🙂

Arrests of 3 suspects were made late yesterday in what’s been some widespread thefts of bronze/copper plaques from our large waterfront memorials, a Veteran’s Park in the beach city to the north of us, several cemeteries (one historical cemetery lost 100 grave markers), the Air Force housing development in town.

Really upsetting to so many people whose ancestors and more recent family members were on those plaques. 😦

Now to figure out how to replace the plaques with something that won’t or can’t be stolen. Police officer said one option in some instances might be granite which isn’t valuable and couldn’t be carted off easily if it were.

    Sheesh, people. Really? 😦

  5. @12:30 – Yes, very valuable when melted down. Often it’s done underground, though, as reputable recycling places are probably legally vulnerable should they get caught doing business with these folks.

  6. I found organic golden beets at Kosher Kroger today. They are yummy. I never see them at Publix. Have you planted any golden beets, Mumsee? When cooked they are similar to a light sweet potato color.

The anti-cancer info I am listening to/ reading says that vitamin D3 is the #1 vitamin to fight cancer. I have been taking 2,000 units daily. 5,000-10,000 is recommended so I will be upping that.

  7. Janice, I have been taking vitamin D. They just tested my blood and said that I might have too much. Trader Joe’s has pills that are 5,000, so I take one a day. The doctor said I should probably just not take them on the weekend and that will even it out.

But I know how important they are and it is sure easier to just take one pill a day, so I like her idea.
