  1. morning all, I am still waiting for my steel cut oats to cook.

after church tomorrow I have been invited to my nephews home. He is in his 40s I think. When I told him that he was the only other Christian in our family, he couldn’t believe it. I want to hear his story and meet his family

  2. Morning! Snowing like there’s no tomorrow in this forest! ⛄️❄️

Praying your time with your nephew proves to be a sweet time of fellowship and encouragement Jo. Moments to treasure for sure.

  3. i went to the ladies’ bruch this morning and took freshly cooked salmon patties . They were almost gone when I got to them in the line. I had only carried eight. Next time I will double.

The ice breaker was a page full of descriptive qualities of people. We were suppose to roam aroundcthe room and meet people and write their name beside a quality. Of course I could not read the page.

Even finding a table to sit at was a challenge. Finally someone from my Sunday school class called to me so I could sit at her table.

The food was delicious. The pastor’s wife spoke along with a few other of our church ladies.

  4. a beautiful lightly snowed day here. Saturday morning cleanup is happening. Pound cake (from a box) is baking. Eggs are cleaned for church tomorrow. And so life goes, one step at a time.

  5. Saw that on FB, Michelle, how fun to have another rising sports star in your clan.

The sun is shining today, we almost forgot what that looked and felt like. Maybe more rain coming next weekend, but we don’t want to think about that just yet. Let us dry out a little first. One of our major streets in and out of town was partially closed for days by flooding, but just reopened on Friday. Folks couldn’t get to the Target store (without taking a long detour), causing much angst.

It left several feet of fresh snow in our local mountains which was very needed. So there were upsides. I’m guessing they’re crowded today with the skiers and snowboarders.

It’s laundry day for me — and getting back to the DMV manual, I have to somehow pass that test before the end of this month.

I’m trying to eat more salmon, Janice, it is so good (and good for us).

  6. I have been watching a Paul Wilbur Ministries confetence, I Stand for Israel. It has been so good. I had no plans to watch it so it was a nice gift from God to find it. One teaching session was on chapters in Genesis I am studying in my online Biblef study and what we are studying in Sunday school.

  7. Nice when those things coincide with what we’re already studying (re 4:51)

I’m looking at what looks to be a good series via Ligonier and Sinclair Ferguson (one of my favorites). “Sojourners and Exiles: The Message of First Peter.”

“The Apostle Peter wrote his letter to teach Christians how to live in a pagan culture. He offers his original readers comfort by showing how the gospel works even in the hostile Roman society. In this lesson, Dr. Ferguson introduces 1 Peter as a tract for our times. Christians today often feel like cultural outsiders and need to know that the gospel works everywhere and in any age.”

  8. So glad to hear you’re coming along well, AJ!

Good morning everyone! I’m having to go into work early today so I don’t get to go to church. It happens occasionally. :–/

It’s overcast and 50s here. Can’t complain. I’m already starting to plan my garden plantings.

  10. Good news from Allen! So happy to hear that😃

I went to church by myself today. It’s a tax season thing.

NJ, that is such a blessing that your mom is still at home. Happy Birthday to her.

When I shopped at Publix this afternoon, I saw more guys than ever in there. Stocking up on food for that big game.

I saw a U-Haul across the street and boldly sent a text to the young guy asking if he was moving and he texted back yes. He said the other guy who rooms there would be staying so I got his number. I wouldn’t have a clue had I not acted like a nosy neighbor.

  11. I did so enjoy being there, although I had to leave early. The heat and uncomfortable pews overwhelmed me a bit. I needed to leave and go lie down.

Hopefully tomorrow’s Dr. appt. presents a plan and fix to the tiredness and an end to this leakage.

  12. We all made it to church this morning. My dad can’t hear so sat reading Scripture and songs. I was especially glad to sing in Christ Alone, knowing he was reading along.

  13. Plans change. Art got home in time to turn on the big game and now it’s the halftime show.

The high school band from the small town (within the large metro area) where Art’s office is located made the commercial with Usher for the halftime show. Thankful to see this!

  14. I made it to church again, too! The sermon was on 1 Timothy 2:1-7 where we are told to pray for those in authority over us. Not to pray for a revolution or for another person to come to power – just to pray for those in authority over us. By doing so we also acknowledge that there is a power even higher than mere prime ministers, kings or presidents. Our hope is not in a change in leader, it is in Christ alone.

  15. It is definitely wise to pray for those over us. However, I will sure pray for different things for different leaders. I pray some gain a fear of God and wake up that he will judge us all someday. Nor does the bible telling us to pray for our leaders mean we cannot pray for a different leader. I sure bet they were doing that in Nazi Germany and in some countries today. Or even in some communities that are being destroyed by poor or evil leadership.

None of that negates the belief that our true hope is in Christ Alone.

  16. Kathaleena, for sure! I, too would pray differently for different leaders.

When Paul was writing that letter to Timothy, Nero was the emperor of Rome! Paul didn’t say to pray that he would be overthrown, just to pray FOR him. THAT would be hard to do.

I am hoping and praying that our PM will soon resign and we can have an election. But this morning reminded me that my hope is not in a certain leader who thinks more like I do, but in God who is the highest authority and puts leaders in place.

  17. When our PM came to the memorial service for the young hockey players killed in the bus crash, I prayed fervently that he would hear the Gospel message that was preached.

  18. Kare @10:25, that’s somewhat what our church recommends when praying for leaders, that they come to know Christ or — if they are ruling unjustly (and that can be a matter of opinion also but there are often glaring examples) that God would bring a change.

Again, all of that is in God’s hands. We pray and God decrees. If ungodly leaders remain in power it can be understood by us that there is a purpose under God’s sovereignty, whether that be judgement or some other reason that we can’t know.

  19. On a lighter note, that was quite a dramatic Super Bowl game, very exciting and congratulations to the KC Chiefs, remarkable turnaround in the 2nd half and in the overtime game.

Those guys must have all been exhausted. And the poor coaches, watching them go through their angst through the back-and-forth of the score all night.
