  1. When Paul says to pray unceasingly, he meant it. We learn that and, oh, what a blessing it is!

I am trying to adjust to my new glasses, but it has been difficult. In some ways my vision is so clear and wonderful. However, it is still distorted, and lights are distorted. Did those of you who had cataract surgery have this issue at all afterwards?

  2. We went on a head-on collision ambulance run yesterday. Pickup vs semi, driving over 65mph. The driver of the pickup suffered many horrific injuries. I would like to ask for prayers for her. God knows her name. We could not get a flight, so had to ground transport her to the trauma center. It took 45 min to get her extricated and another 1 1/2 hrs to transport, running code 3.

  3. rkessler, how awful, praying.

Kathaleena, I didn’t have my astigmatism corrected so I still have that to deal with. I can get by with no glasses most of the time. I will wear the progressive lenses when I drive and reading glasses when reading, but otherwise — much of the time — no glasses.

Trying to remember if night lights are a bother or not, I don’t wear glasses when walking Abby at night and haven’t driven much at night but I don’t remember being especially bothered by lights.

But it’s not perfect. Closer to that than it’s been for me, though, going back many years.

  4. Kathaleena – I did not have that problem. Could it be a problem with your glasses? A friend at church recently had a problem with the way a new pair of glasses affected her sight,, and had to get a different, corrected pair.

  5. I remembered, too, that I was getting weird little reflection lights off in the corners of my eyes — the doctor told me that’s a reflection off the new lenses (which are weirdly square-shaped).

He said it’s nothing to worry about, it either (a) goes away (for most people) or (b) you stop noticing it.

I haven’t really paid it any mind since then, not sure if it’s still happened or not, to be honest.

  6. I did not have distortions like that, Kathaleena. I have a retina problem, so problem with center field. I do remember at first having a sensation of seeing something at the top that looked like spider webs that made me wonder if the lens was cracked or was I seeing my eyelashes. I soon regrew a new film like cataracts and had to have another corrective surgery. The doc put pin holes around the edge of the lens which seems to let too much light in. My best time to see things in in the light at dusk and dawn. And I have the epi-retinal membranes on the back side of the eye like my cousin has. It’s a bit much, but everyone seems to have to deal with something as they get older. It’s all a matter of making the best of it and muddling through until you figure out the best.

So sorry to hear of that horrid accident, Rkessler. Asking God right now to make a good way forward for her body to survive and heal. Prayers for her family and friends. That is just so hard. Thankful for all who have worked to save her life so far and all who will be doing so for a long time. Please, Lord, keep her in the best of care and restore her to the life You had planned for her. I pray in Jesus’ name Amen
