Prayer Requests 10-25-23

It’s Wednesday, so please remember to pray for Joanne and The Gambia.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 100

A psalm. For giving grateful praise.

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
 Worship the Lord with gladness;
    come before him with joyful songs.
Know that the Lord is God.
    It is he who made us, and we are his;
    we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving
    and his courts with praise;
    give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good and his love endures forever;
    his faithfulness continues through all generations.

  1. Praying, too, AJ.

    Kizzie, I just meant that in my current bible study in addition to the NT reading, there is one from Ezekiel and one from Isaiah right now. That would not be my choice in the reading sequence, but it is not my call. I find it confusing to be in two prophets at once. I do adjust, however, and suppose others do as well. For a new reader of the bible it must be quite confusing, IMO.

  2. Praying for you, AJ.

    Please continue to pray for my Boy.

    Today is his 13th birthday. He is still in the place. (Not sure what to call it, as it’s not quite a hospital, and “institution” sounds like a mental hospital. Well, I suppose it kind of is that.) He very much wanted to be home for his birthday, and pleaded with Nightingale last night to take him home, insisting that he will be different.

    Nightingale told me that he will probably be coming home tomorrow, possibly Friday. After that, he will be taken to an outpatient place (for kids) each day after school for a couple of hours. I don’t know how long that will last.

    Please also pray for Nightingale as she deals with the stress and grief over what is happening with her son, despite her best efforts to be a good mother (which she is), and shield him as much as possible from the drama that his father stirs up. And of course, I cannot mention one daughter without mentioning the other. 🙂

  3. *facility?

    Praying, Kizzie. I’m so sorry Boy couldn’t be home to celebrate his birthday, but am encouraged that this sounds like a rather shortened stay anyway. Praying he connects in a special way with a counselor there (and/or at the followup appointments).

    And prayers for you and Emily as you navigate these unpredictable waters.

    And, of course, for other daughter as well as X and his parents. -dj

  4. The real Aj

    Well the results are not as we hoped and prayed. 7 areas were biopsied, all showed cancer. Still all stage 1, nothing into the bladder wall which could mean it escaped.

    After chemo and 2 immunotherapy treatments being unsuccessful, protocol says to remove the bladder. I see my GP for a pre-surgery physical tomorrow, CT scan next week. Also I’ve been referred to Fox Chase in Philadelphia for a 2nd opinion/consult. There are 3 options for surgery methods, 1 done by my Dr. locally, the other 2 by the Fox Chase Dr. if we choose one of the other 2 options.

    It sucks, but the surgery will save my life and remove the cancer completely, so it’s really the only option at this point. Only question is which surgery option to go with.

    I know God has a plan and I’m trying to just leave it with Him. Cheryl and I would most appreciate your continued prayers.

    Thanks,
    Allen

  5. This seems a little inappropriate to be rejoicing over something after AJ’s news, but here is the latest from us:

    Just heard from Nightingale that Boy gets to come home today. He must be so happy! He very much wanted to be home for his birthday, and I have been praying for that. Thanking God!

    The next step in his treatment is an after-school program at a children’s mental health center that he will be attending for a while. I think they help with the school work, too, somehow. Not exactly sure what it entails.

  6. The real, not unexpected from your earlier results but not what we wanted. And so we pray for wisdom on decision making, talented hands on the surgeon. Peace and patience.

  7. Praying, AJ, I’m sorry it wasn’t better news. But it wasn’t the worst news, either (though it’s all just hard to process).

    Kizzie, glad he will get a homestyle birthday celebration and also good to know there’s such a solid program he will be part of going forward. That should also take some of the burden off of Nightingale’s shoulders. -dj

  8. Another “active” mass shooting unfolding tonight in Maine, prayers for everyone involved — 16 killed and subject is still at large — and on a larger scale prayers for our nation, these too-numerous incidents seem to speak so loudly about our social discord and, more significantly, a spiritual emptiness -dj
