  1. You’ll have to be more specific, Michelle.

We have a sunny day, which seems so precious after many rainy days. Rain is predicted so we will have to be sure to enjoy the sun while we have it. There are many bright trees that do help lift the spirit on the cloudy days. How amazing our God must be when we see how amazing his creation is!

  2. Specific to how I got my photo up? I just opened the website on a different computer–but I had just come from MY website, so maybe WP was simply in the habit? 🙂

Yesterday was Yom Kippur–the Day of Atonement in the Judaism.

Today, I’m teaching on Romans 3–which deals with atonement.

I love it when this happens. I’m going to start by reading just what the Day of Atonement means, why the lamb, and aren’t we glad we’re covered by the blood. 🙂

  3. Fantabulous photo, AJ! Encore!!!

It hit 89° yesterday, the hottest lately. Why did I mow that day? The time was ripe and to keep up with the nextdoor neighbor who had a lawn service do her yard yesterday morning. It is nice to sync and have mowed yards flowing together.

  4. Happy … Tuesday? I’ve already lost track of what day it is this week. Oh, right, I did the bridge story yesterday so that was Monday as it was the hold-over story from last week. I think I’ve got it now.

Gardeners were here yesterday, finally had a chance to have that discussion about tree trimming, but the cost is high. Of course, my large backyard trees are all horribly overgrown after all that rain we had — beautiful, but they must be addressed.

Still waiting for a bid from the arborist company. Gardeners would not take the ficus out, would only seriously trim it down and back; arborist is supposed to provide bids for both options; but he just returned from a 2-week vacation in Greece.

  5. Still getting cool, fall weather here, it’s been wonderful.

Halloween decorations are going up around the neighborhood, a house across the street and about 1/2 a block down is “under construction” for the event, they’ve put up what must be a 15-foot-tall thing, a ghoul, I guess, in their front yard. -dj

  6. I guess that Halloween is the main ‘holiday’ that secular folks can claim as their own big deal without sharing it with religious people so they go all out. When will we have a ‘Halloween break,’ similar to what we get at Christmas?

The days and nights run together here under our current situation.

It is another hot day.. I always feel better when it is cooler Two hot days in a row! We need those cool temps back.

Bro asked to cook a little something for himself, something frequently needed after surgery (stewed prunes). I said yes. I hope I have not lost my kitchen as in give an inch, lose a mile😀 He actually said my brocolli and spinach were out of this world good!

  7. One window open, (not counting the tops of the double-hung windows in the living room & bathroom), 3 ceiling fans going, mosquito pestering me.

Found a good port story to do, but missed most of the state legislatures’ committee hearing on it today, though it will be posted in the archives maybe tomorrow and I’ll listen to it then. Also heard from a former deputy la city atty I used to connect with on animal-related legal issues in the city, she’s retired and living on our offshore island where she tells me there’s a citizen uproar and divide on the prospect of killing off all the mule deer.

A slow day turned busy, but not able to get any of that written up for tomorrow.

  8. I tend to “tune out” the more Halloween-ish ones. Although some catch my eye for the elaborate nature of the displays. During the pandemic, we had a couple move into the neighborhood who worked for the film studios doing sets and they really went all out in their front yard, complete with moving, life-sized figures, sound effects and a full-sized carriage, as I recall … it was a popular spot for drive-by’s and walkers (I walked the border collies down there a couple times as t was an easy walk for them and me — two aging dogs and one human with a tweaked knee); again, this was during the pandemic so it seemed to fit the mood and our need for distractions.

I usually (if I decorate that early in the season) put out some real-looking plastic pumpkins (they have a hole in the bottom so you can put a flickering battery candle inside), a couple strings of those tiny-battery powered orange twinkle lights (in orange) and a faux garland of fall leaves.

    Much more “fall” than “Halloween.”
