I emailed recently knowing that her new homeschool year was about to start, and I hoped all was going well. She said she will no longer be having piano lesspns taught in her home, only at the studio, which will be a relief for her. Also, she asked for continuing prayer for her mom during this year of firsts as a widow.
Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. I did an oops earlier so I may be repeating myself. Who knows with these Chromebook deals.
Anyway, husband is off to the Cougars/ Badgers game with his brother and sister. He is sleeping in his truck but who knows if he will ever get out as he forgot his step stool!
But I woke up feeling a little sad, just a general kind of “sigh” feeling.
This created world was designed to point you to where your heart can find satisfaction. It was not designed to be the thing that gives you that satisfaction.
Morning! Beautiful day here in the forest and this ol’ world continues to spin! 🌎
Owner of the cabin emailed this morning to see how we settled in!! I informed him since we had not been given access we remain settled in at our home on the other side of CO! He then said had he known he would have given us access!!! I declare it is Twilight zone moment! He refused access two days ago saying he could not!!! I have all his emails but will just not respond to his duplicity…
My day started at 330AM when we were awakened by police at the door. Turns out 2 troubled teen youts from the area Children’s Home escaped their guards last evening and went on a breaking and entering of vehicles and general stupidity spree across town.
They put out the back window of Cheryl’s car. Nothing was taken, as all that was in it was her Bible and 12 dollars in the sun glass holder they missed.
The police caught them nearby after someone saw them at another home doing stupid stuff. One confessed, and told them where they struck, so the police came down the block, saw our busted out window with glass everywhere, and woke me up to tell me.
So I’m out sweeping the glass in my jammies at 4AM.
Not even gonna bother reporting it to insurance as the price to fix is less than my deductible. The officer said they would seek restitution, and I laughed. I reminded him our new social justice DA would do nothing to them, what with them being minors and disadvantaged youts and all. He shook his head and said…. Yeah, you’re probably right.
Our county is notorious for doing little to ensure victims get the restitution courts have ordered. We currently have around 20 million in uncollected restitution that the county seems unwilling to seriously pursue. So we’re out about 500 bucks. Yay.
No place is open to fix it until Monday, so I’ve trash bagged it to try and keep the rain out. Fun, fun, fun.
So sorry, AJ, what a mess. Could have been worse, but still. Actually may have been good had they taken the Bible 🙂 But praying they will someday recognize and repent of their deeds and you may, indeed, see some restitution (voluntarily on their part). This could be the thing that God uses to prick a conscience.
Someone stole the back window out of my old VW beetle years ago. It was parked in the carport below the apartment I shared with a friend and I was half-way to work before I noticed it was missing. Kept thinking, “wow, that back window looks so clear.”
But the commute also struck me then as unusually “loud” (VW engines were in the back) and rather cold …
I’m not very perky in the mornings.
Hope it all gets straightened out quickly and the window will be quick to find and install.
Oh AJ..3:30am knocks on the door always unsettlingly… 😞 I do hope somehow restitution will be afforded to the victims…so sorry this sad mess started out your weekend!
Thank you for your kind birthday wishes, AJ and Janice. Hubby and I will be going out to eat tonight at a restaurant to which I received a gift card from one of my piano families last Christmas.
Thanks for the prayers for my mom. Two weeks ago was the anniversary of my parents’ wedding, and the first time Mom was spending it without Dad here on this earth. She received lots of visits from family that day, and was blessed with the news that she’s got another great-grandchild on the way. My 3rd Arrow and SIL, married last year, are looking forward to their first little blessing circa March. 🙂
Sorry to hear about all that trouble in your neighborhood and the damage to Cheryl’s car, AJ. My grandmother would refer to such troublemakers as juvenile delinquents. I suppose that term wouldn’t fly in such politically-correct times like now.
AJ, there are so many broken car/vehicle windows around us. A neighbor’s car, parked on the street, has been wearing a duct-taped garbage bag for several weeks. My dog-walking friend does not lock her car and does not leave much inside because she does not want to bother with window replacement. It seems to be a current item to keep in one’s budget, unfortunately. And a knock on the door at that time . . . not really required at all for what happened. Poor choice on their part unless law requires it.
NJ, absolutely despicable what has happened. At the least a bad review needs to be given to warn others of their trickery. You might even tell the guy that unless a refund is given that it will be reported on multiple sites. No one needs such bad treatment from a business. That was a thoughtful gift, if only it could have worked out.
Lots of pain in young people these days, poorly expressed. Lots of ugly examples to follow. But God is at work and maybe we will meet these two in Glory and hear the story of running across Cheryl’s Bible and getting a wake up.
Of course, justice should be applied if they are found and convicted, but the deeper concern is for their souls, of course, and the track they seem to be on.
Remember Matthew Henry’s tale?

Matthew Henry: Thankful Anyway
A famous English Bible scholar named Matthew Henry was once attacked by thieves and robbed of his purse. He wrote these words in his diary: “Let me be thankful. First, I was never robbed before. Second, although they took my purse, they didn’t take my life. Third, although they took my all, it was not much. Fourth, let me be thankful because it was I who was robbed and not I who did the robbing.”

Thanks, NJ and DJ. It’s been a very nice day today, and the meal out tonight was enjoyable, too.
That was quite a baseball catch above! I love seeing things like that. 🙂
You all have a nice rest of the weekend. Tomorrow is my last day of rest before school and piano lessons resume Monday. I am getting so excited to teach piano in the new location! (For the same studio I’ve been at the last three and a half years, but now in their second location.) I’ve been setting up my room over there the last couple weeks since I closed up shop at home and have taken off time from my other lessons. Monday’s the big starting day at the new site for me and my students!
I’ve got plans to introduce interleaved practice to all but my youngest beginners, and am planning how to implement interleaved teaching for myself. I tried it a little on a small scale this summer with a few students I chose as my guinea pigs 😉 but want to do it on a wider scale now. I LOVE that there are so many excellent piano teacher podcasts available these days that inspire me to try things I haven’t done before. I listened to quite a few useful podcasts over my break these last couple weeks, but now just want to launch those ideas!
Happy Autumn and blessings to you all in the places and activities where God launches you!
We went to the funeral of a very good friend, the brother-in-law of our pastor. good message on “Great Grace”, which is what this godly man told the doctor when the doc asked how he ended up in the hospital. It was an accident while mowing too close to a ditch and the mower rolled over onto him. He said “great grace” because there were several other times he could have been killed in accidents. He was farmer, and they have a lot of dangers.
It’s Sunday and you know what that means. Getting ready for church, but first, coffee! I am ever so thankful my taste for it came back after that 6 months following the Covid vaccine.
Thankful that so far, our son’s case has been mild. Most of the younger folks seem to be knocking it out quickly.
Son in law offered to take the children fishing today. But they do not have licenses. I found I can be done on line. Son in law was able to get daughter’s but sadly, they have determined that son is a non resident, though they have record of him with a juvenile resident fishing and hunting license. So fishing is delayed until tomorrow when the stores are open.
Oh, I had a fishing license once. For a date with a short-term summer boyfriend in college who wanted to introduce me to the sport sitting on the rocks of the LA marina.
First and last time fishing for me.
Didn’t catch anything, which pleased me just fine. “OK, tried fishing. We can go to a restaurant now. ”
I guess the license probably expired. (As did the boyfriend a couple months later.)
DJ, I have to thank you today for sharing that baseball catch video yesterday. My mom enjoys watching baseball, and the game she was viewing this afternoon when I came to visit her was just wrapping up. Her team didn’t win, so I thought showing her that video of the amazing catch would cheer her up.
Boy, did she throw her head back and laugh with delight upon seeing that video! It really made her day.
You said up above, “Blessings to your mom.” You blessed her, DJ, by sharing that video at just the right time. 🙂 Thank you!
Aw, thanks 6Arrows, I love baseball as well and it was so crazy to see that!
I like fish (well, not all fish but many kinds of fish when it’s prepared well), mumsee. It was not wanting really to “catch” anything, injuring it. My mom was the same way, said she always spent the times she went fishing hoping she wouldn’t catch anything.
Good morning, Wanderers! Have a blessed Saturday.
We have so many good gifts from our Maker to be awed over today! Starting with His very word.

How frustrating, NJ. Hope it gets squared away and doesn’t affect the actual time you were planning to spend there!
