  1. Is it the end of August already? As Chas used to say, “If you have anything you need to do in August, get it done today!

Well, I discovered there was something I needed to do in June. Today I go to the DMV to renew the minivan’s license and pay the $5 fine for being late.

  2. Good morning! I was awake around 4:30 trying to answer an email from someone asking my blunt opinion about a website revision before it goes live. I found the header illustration to not be the best. Does anyone here know of a good place to get stock photos for free other than at Pixabay? I suggested she might try Fiver at a small cost.

Before 7 a.m. Art and I were off to ther car repair shop because of a noise my car made yesterday. Of course, no noise today, but there was another upcoming need mentioned previously by the shop so why not take care of that?

I am tired already, but early coffee has me wired. Wired and tired . . . Poor Miss Bosley may be in for life with a cranky old lady today😀

    I did!

I had our plumber come out and install the new bathroom faucet that Nightingale bought months ago.

She thought that she would do it herself, but said that something about it was a little different from another faucet that she had installed upstairs a while back. That, I guess, made her a little nervous about tackling it, and then there is the fact that she is very busy in general.

So I finally decided to contact our plumber. Nightingale has no idea that I did this, so she will be surprised to walk into the bathroom later and discover the faucet installed and looking good. 🙂

The reason this has to do with doing something in August is because I intended to contact him earlier in the month, but kept forgetting. 🙂

  6. Yay for new faucets/banisters, and prayers for Miss Bosley all around!

Anyone else notice the super blue moon the other night? I saw it when I was out walking Abby, spectacular.

I thought Peter’s “fine” was cheap, too!

  7. I saw the blue moon last night after work. When I got out of the car to go in the house at about 10:30pm I got a good look. Couldn’t help it really it was so bright there was no need for the porch light. But it didn’t look blue to me. Just big, bright, and beautiful. 🙂

  8. On the way home from church last evening, I stopped at the store for a couple of things. As I was leaving I saw the moon rising. So I went back into the store and told the clerks to come out. We all ooh and aaaah together. Then on the way home I went just past my street where there was a very clear sky view. Amazing.

  9. I wanted to take a ride up to Tahoe this week, but couldn’t think of anyone to go with me.
Later I remembered that I now have a friend in Gardnerville, Just a short drive down the mountain from Tahoe. I texted her this morning, but she was busy. I will try for next week.

I also called my friend that is in a different nursing home. I had to wait while they took her the phone. I told her who I was and she told me that she was in the middle of a bingo game. So I said that I just wanted to tell her that I love her and let her go.
But I was glad to know that she was doing something other than just sitting in bed.

  10. Mumsee – No, I did not do that, since I didn’t have her “permission” to go upstairs with him (since she didn’t even know he would be here). But she had talked to him at another time about that.

(As for “permission”, I may not have to ask since I do still own the house, but the upstairs is her home, and I am respectful of that. Also, things are often quite a mess up there, so she may not have been happy with someone going up there without her being able to prepare.)

  11. I don’t think contractors notice that stuff. They notice their job. But I understand. I am just hoping you can be comfortable moving forward on repairing your home which should take some of the pressure off her as well.

  12. After turning in two stories already, I got the one we had heard rumors about (final ratification of the port contract confirmed) late this afternoon, it was a whirlwind to get that in with numerous quotes flying in from everywhere.

The last day before a long weekend (I’m also taking tomorrow off) is always hectic for some reason.

Meanwhile, I’m out of dog food (Chewy.com order that should have been here by Monday was delayed and still hasn’t arrived) so I need to get to the store for that before Abby’s dinner tonight … and I may not get the birthday gift for my friend picked up in time for our visit tomorrow, may have to do all of that at our Christmas visit.

  13. Just made an order from there for a September birthday, mumsee.

We stopped to take a picture of the moon. We were on our way home from watching a band at a community park, which is about 45 minutes from us. The moon was gorgeous. Then we had a gorgeous sunset to watch on our walk this evening. God must be very beautiful because his creation certainly is.

That was the last music program of the season. The sun will set too early and usually it will get cold in the evening now. However, we will have unseasonably hot the next few days. Last evening was absolutely perfect weather and very few bugs.

  14. Nightingale did not go into the bathroom when she got home from work, because by then, it was time to get Boy to football practice. Then she decided to stay and watch rather than come home. But eventually – around 7:45 – they returned home.

With my seat on the couch in the living room being right across from the bathroom door, I watched as Nightingale went in to take a shower, but she was looking down at her phone, and then quickly turned around and left because she had forgotten something. (So close!)

When she went back in, she then turned around and looked out the door and, with a questioning look on her face, asked “What did you do. . .” and I started to smile, and she finished “. . .for dinner?” (I had had a sandwich.)

FINALLY she noticed the faucet! She asked what I had done, and I told her that I had called Jeff-the-Plumber. She seems pleased. 🙂

  15. It’s hard to believe I am still awake, but those Braves, playing a late game in LA with the Dodgers! Such a fun game to watch. Amazing talent on both sides, and such a lovely stadium. In the 70s there and here, too.

I cooked a whole chicken this evening and had to wait for it to cool to put away so that was the other reason I stayed up late. Miss Bosley is all super snoozey after her dinner of Greenwise chicken .

Wow! That top Braves player got mattied twelve hours before and then hit a Grand Slam bringing in four runs in the second inning. What a high he is on!
