Prayer Requests 8-30-23

It’s Wednesday, so please remember to pray for Joanne and The Gambia.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 48

A song. A psalm of the Sons of Korah.

Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise,
    in the city of our God, his holy mountain.

Beautiful in its loftiness,
    the joy of the whole earth,
   like the heights of Zaphon is Mount Zion,
    the city of the Great King.
God is in her citadels;
    he has shown himself to be her fortress.

When the kings joined forces,
    when they advanced together,
they saw her and were astounded;
    they fled in terror.
Trembling seized them there,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.
You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish
    shattered by an east wind.

As we have heard,
    so we have seen
   in the city of the Lord Almighty,
    in the city of our God:
   God makes her secure
    forever.

Within your temple, O God,
    we meditate on your unfailing love.
10 Like your name, O God,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;
    your right hand is filled with righteousness.
11 Mount Zion rejoices,
    the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments.

12 Walk about Zion, go around her,
    count her towers,
13 consider well her ramparts,
    view her citadels,
   that you may tell of them
    to the next generation.

14 For this God is our God for ever and ever;
    he will be our guide even to the end.

  1. Weird prayer request, that we can get through to a doctor today who will prescribe a pain med for KJ today.

    She was discharged from the hospital Sunday with a 3-day supply of a controlled pain med. They said to call her regular doctor if she needed more. On Monday she got a call from a “case manager” at her doctor’s office to review her hospitalization and got an appointment for Friday. The case manager said to call again if she needed more of the pain med.

    KJ’s next pill will be the last one she has. Yesterday she called and left a message for the case manager. Turns out the case manager was out yesterday, and again today. And her doctor is out today. So now after multiple phone calls we’re hoping that the message has gotten to some doctor in the practice who will review the case and prescribe the med, at least enough to get to Friday’s appointment.

    This is like a re-run of what happened after Mrs B’s foot surgery in June. We called ahead when she was still in a lot of pain and her controlled pain med was going to run out the next day, but it took many phone calls and about 30 hours to finally get a prescription filled at an open pharmacy just before it closed late on a Friday evening.

    I understand that meds like these should not be too easy to get, but they should not be so hard to get when needed. They say just to call when you need more, but then they’re not there for you when you do. Sorry for the rant on the prayer thread.

  2. So sorry to hear that is happening, again, Kevin. It’s crazy!
    Father God, please enable this communication to be processed immediately so anxiety over escalating pain can be put to rest. And I will ask that the pain will diminish faster than expected so no pain med other than over-the-counter is needed. Please, Lord, make quick processing in Your loving way to satisfy this request. Thank You for Your action and divine healing touch. In Jesus’ name, Amen

  3. Praying, and agree with you Kevin, it’s good that caution is in place with these medications but … when they’re needed they’re needed and it shouldn’t be that difficult.

    Probably complicated due to the holiday weekend? Praying it all gets cleared without more hassle.

  4. Praying for the situation to be righted and for medication needed will be found Kevin. My doctors have a triage nurse who can be requested when hitting road blocks….is that the case manager?

  5. NJ, not sure if it’s the same thing or not.

    One of the other doctors came through and we have it. As before it says every 4 hours as needed (KJ has been taking it about every 5). But then it says “Max 3 daily”, and only provided 6 to last until her appointment on Friday. So maybe if her regular doctor or the case manager is in the office tomorrow, one of them will be willing to take a kinder approach. The tablets are only half the strength she was getting at first in the hospital anyway.

    I am hoping that the pain will subside enough that what we have will be enough, or more than enough, until Friday.

    She bled quite a bit into her belly from the ruptured “benign” tumor, and the doctors said it takes a long time for the body to reabsorb that and it would be painful for awhile, so this is not unexpected.

    I really appreciate y’all’s prayers and listening ears. (Janice, did I punctuate y’all’s correctly?)

  6. Please pray for my godson, Nicholas. He is intubated because of vomiting since last Tuesday. They are hoping to wean him off but haven’t been able to yet. He lives in a nursing home, is legally blind and has stomach issues that surgery was recommended for last year and he refused. He needs the Lord for sure. He has had exposure to the gospel. I don’t see him and friends who tried were not even let know he was hospitalized. We heard from a relative who heard about where he is. He is in his thirties.
