Good morning, Wanderers. It’s cool to start and will be an even cooler end to the day if we get the cold front, but perhaps hot in the middle. Sorta like a Hot Fudge Sunday only it is Tuesday!
I woke up a little early to the sound of a vehicle on the street which had loud like crashing sounds accompanying ita few doors down which sounded like some mailboxes being bashed. We shall see. Wondering if related to the midnight madness. Probably just an end of summer bash.
Good morning all. A beautiful day in the neighborhood.
Last night I went to bed surrounded by full fields. This morning it is all harvested. We saw the combines starting in last night around nine, no idea how late they worked.
One of my mom’s early teen-era(?) jobs when she was still living at home with her parents was to help prepare, serve and clean up after meals at a nearby farm during harvest season.
Just one of the things in her life I wished we had time to talk more about (and thought we would someday, she died too young and at a time when I was busy with my young adult life and wasn’t focused on those kinds of conversations; there would always be time later, right?)
Feels like a cool, foggy morning here, I’m wondering if we’ll actually make it through this season without the dreaded “heat dome” experience. Wouldn’t that be nice.
Mumsee, I have a vein on the inside of my leg that has always caused leg aches. So anything that presses on it restricts blood flow. So I found different underwear and was amazed at the difference
Full day today, flock of 15 Canada geese flew into a La Brea tar pit thinking it was a nice fresh body of water from their view above; 2 survived and are being treated at our local bird rescue center.
That’s done but 2 more stories to write …
City workers came by, they need to trim some of the backyard ficus tree away from power lines and while we were talking the issue came up about the other tree that has branches encroaching on neighbor’s garage roof; on the side, he said they’d do that, too, and haul it away for $160 — ‘Just don’t tell my boss or … ‘ (making a throat slicing motion). I’ll have to get to the ATM to grab some cash, though.
This crazy weather can manage to keep us guessing. Everytime I wanted to head out to the store, it looked like it would storm. Then the sun appeared again. It’s 81° and on my phone shows rain for this area yet it is brightening up again. A storm near Art’s office knocked out one of his monitors. Good thing I can wait a day before going to the store.
A friend from my former church sent me her new book. I once was delighted to receive such a gift. Now I feel I must read and review. I will be glad to read it. It is not long. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever known. She mostly publishes homeschool math books. Maybe I can talk Art into reading it to me.

Go Braves (until they’re playing the Dodgers, of course, which I see will be happening in late August, early September?)

85 here — warm for us this summer — but with a cool wind blowing and a marine layer fog bank over the harbor.
Had to dash to the ATM for the tree guys, caught Bob Dylan’s “The Times They are a Changin'” and “Subterranean Homesick Blues” on the radio.
