Prayer Requests 8-10-23

It’s Thursday, so please remember to pray for Jo and the people of PNG.

Anyone else have something to share

Psalm 29

A psalm of David.

Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,
    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
    worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters;
    the God of glory thunders,
    the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
    the voice of the Lord is majestic.
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
    the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,
    Sirion like a young wild ox.
The voice of the Lord strikes
    with flashes of lightning.
The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;
    the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
The voice of the Lord twists the oaks
    and strips the forests bare.
   And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
    the Lord is enthroned as King forever.
11 The Lord gives strength to his people;
    the Lord blesses his people with peace.

  1. Prayer for twenty one daughter. She has arranged for a visit with a court assistant to discuss guardianship. At the last minute she invited us but I had to decline. She can go prove to the assistant that she does not need a guardian. May God be glorified.

  2. Kizzie, the alternatives are: somebody else takes it on, county guardians take it on but they only do if she is in a facility which she refuses, or the state takes over which would probably put her in a locked facility.

    My dad just enjoyed a lovely afternoon visit with one of my brothers. A nice change from yesterday when he was very sad and very weak.

  3. I’m glad your dad had a pleasant day today.

    I feel sorry for your daughter. And for you, because her situation must be painful for you, too, I would imagine. 😦

  4. Daughter says it went well but no specifics.

    Son in law and daughter had pretrial today and he requested judicial mediation. Her lawyer put up a fuss but the judge agreed and got it set up. They will talk separately with a different judge who will give his opinion to the ruling judge, of whether or not a court visit is needed or if the judge can just set down the rules for future interactions and child custody.

    Meanwhile, her lawyer called son in law to say she is demanding child support as she has them seventy percent of the time. But his records indicate he has actually had them sixty percent of the time, well over the agreed upon fifty one, forty nine. Divorce is ugly, not surprised God hates it.

  5. Joy amid trying times, prayers and praise, mumsee.

    Prayers for the people of Maui — the son of a woman in our town just moved there a few days ago and, after not hearing from him for the first 24-48 hours, he finally called her to say he’s ok (before the call dropped).

    Such a catastrophe. So much human loss, so many homes.

    And historical landmarks also were in the fire’s path.

    CNN: ~ One of the largest banyan trees in the US and a 200-year-old church are among the beloved landmarks imperiled by Maui’s wildfires ~
