Happy birthday, Debra. Hope you are doing what you really love to do today.
I was just trying to get a picture like that today. Haven’t looked at the results yet.
The price of a yard of cotton fabric for the quilt shop hop I do this time of year is up to 14.45/yd. It is the first year I will probably not buy the special fabric. My stash is appreciating, I suppose. I am looking for some princess fabric for a baby quilt. Princesses seem to be in short supply so far. The shower has a princess theme and I do not know the mom-to-be well. If I see something else that just screams cute, I will go for that. I am wondering how many quilt stores will be able to continue with those kinds of prices.
Our weather is absolutely perfect today. What a gift!
Morning! Beautiful photo of a bee doing what bees do!!! Thankful for our pollinators. We have not seen so many this year sadly.
Happy Birthday tomorrow Debra…you are such a blessing to us all❣️
Kathaleena I have noticed prices skyrocketing as well. A fat quarter of my wool is now 20.00 and my supplier just informed me it will be more the next time I increase my stash. I’m going to have to start looking at thrift stores for wool clothing to repurpose.
Happy Birthday in advance, Debra! I hope it will be fun-filled and have some good flavors mixed in.
That’s a great shot of flower and bee. I need to try that angle.
It will be a very warm few days ahead, in the 90’s but feeling like triple digits. Not my favorite but at least the lawn is mowed so that is good.
We have a special speaker for church tomorrow. He has background in journalism and has also reported in the past on college sports. I believe he will do a message on a passage in Matthew.
I went outside by the pool at my daughters house last night and the evil granddaughters asked me where my phone was. I was able to figure out that they were getting ready to throw me into the pool. I quickly went inside and sil told them they were not to throw grandma into the pool
Better than throwing grandma off the cliff! Remember that commercial? I think that was in a past political season … I think they had to pull it, it got a lot of protest. Probably wouldn’t in today’s much rougher political climate, however.

So, success with the cat tree: I also found — in the handy ‘junk’ drawer — one of those “wheel” tools and one of the size selections did fit the fasteners on the cat tree! Yay.
I did it, took the whole thing apart and bagged the segments, ready to hit the trash (which I might have to parcel out in weekly segments).
That thing was a very good investment, taller than I was and it took me 3 hours, at least, to put it together, but it provided Annie Oakley with a way of escape from the two dogs in the household (if needed, they all got along well, however). But it was her special spot and she used it a lot.
she scratched the heck out of the scratch posts connecting each of the levels and loved tucking herself away in the little enclosed ‘condo’ way up on top where she could sleep or just hang out unbothered and unseen.
Well worth buying that at the time. It did its job and survived some 12 years.
I don’t shop Target these days but always appreciated the more open feeling there than the claustraphobic feeling I get in Walmart. I have to shop Walmart occasionally but avoid it as long as I can. It was more fun shopping Wally World with my friend.
I found a flip type waffle maker for son’s second birthday celebration here. Since he was absent for the actual day, we did a before and after mini-celebration. Kroger had that waffle maker on clearance for only $24 so that was reason enough to buy and celebrate. I also had a tiny German chocolate cake treat and Art had bought a book as a gift. I know he is spoiled this year. He did make waffles to share this afternoon.
Got my kayak to my house today. Had to leave the back open and came home the long, slow way. Now the lake is just down the hill so I should be able to use it
Here is the chorus; Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray,
And live rejoicing every day;
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
Well, I guess I did buy some fabric, because I will need some to use with the ‘free’ squares. But I actually spent less than I ever had during the shop hop. I went to five shops and there was no princess fabric anywhere. One owner of a shop told me her daughter hated princesses, so she never has ordered it. Otherwise, it seems princesses are out. No other fabric really called to me.
There was one quilt kit I did have to keep myself from buying. I commented to my husband that it must be from Alaska and the clerk told me that is where the artist is from. Fat, dancing ladies in dresses and babushkas. It just made me happy looking at it. However, I have absolutely no one to gift it to and nowhere to put it.
I am always amazed at the variety of projects and quilts made from the fabric. That is one thing that makes going so fun. Each shop makes its own projects and quilt. Each makes one square to add to a huge quilt. No two are alike.
Good Sunday morning, Y’all!
It’s 72° and nice out at 6:30 a.m. French Roast coffee is waking me up. So thankful I can enjoy coffee again. Remembering how that one Covid jab took any enjoyment of it away for a time.
Good Morning Everyone. I know I posted some time last week….
Happy Birthday Debra. May it be special.
The dogs and I get up early. I get coffee and sit on the back porch while they wander the back yard. A certain person at work teases me about being from Alabama (and living there). I laughed this morning because I realized the noise I have been hearing in the morning is a rooster crowing. Hmmmm. I didn’t hear that much in FHope.
Friday, I had lunch with my 3-7 grade best friend. Way back when my mother bought a painting from her grandmother. It is a white magnolia on a dark green background. They are probably a dime a dozen from that time period, but I took a photo of it and her grandmother’s signature on it and sent a message asking if she wanted it. Yes! So we met for lunch and I gave her the painting. Her niece is going to take a photo of it and get a tattoo. We laughed. Her grandmother would be scandalized to think a relative of hers has a tattoo.
We also had a very good conversation about her mother and the rejection I had from her when “The Event” happened. I came away from lunch quite a bit lighter.
No church today. I have to find one.
We waited outside for our call to get a table at a restaurant yesterday. In front of us was a long line for ordering pie or meals to take. The tattoos on people were quite interesting. I shudder to think how so many of them will look in a few decades, however.
Janice, I haven’t gone on Ebay for years. I may look online at some point. We shall see. I can also give another gift. It helps to really like the fabric. Otherwise, the whole process just seems like work.
We had a great sermon from a former USA Today college football reporter who just graduated from Southwestern Seminary. He preached from Matthew 9 and mostly focused on Jesus having compassion on the crowds. He compared seeing the football crowds from his former journalist position to now as being a regular part of the crowd. I was wishing some of the guys here could have heard him.
We had a guest in the pulpit today as well, one of our former (young) elders who’s now elsewhere after they moved, but he comes back from time to time, their children were all baptized here. Good sermon on Genesis 29.
We also have a new member who’s a film stunt man by profession, my British former radio journalist friend did a podcast with him recently (it’s a church ministry he does) so I’ll have to listen to it. Stunt man (I keep mis-typing “stung” man) has the most amazing, thick, long blonde hair. And muscles, of course …
I have a big, itchy red mosquito bite right in the middle of my forehead. Lovely.
Dogs plural, Kim? Am I forgetting you currently have 2 dogs?
Prayers for finding a good church in your new home.
I love hearing all the new sounds in a new neighborhood after a move. I’d worked in this harbor town for several years already, but hadn’t spent the night here so nights & early mornings brought different sounds, booms and clangs container ships unloading in the harbor, trains, and fog horns, among them.
We have a rooster here. Actually, about thirty of them. This morning son told me he had been watching a young rooster learning how to crow from an older one. I don’t know if that is how it is done but two roosters standing close to each other. The older would crow, then the younger, repeat. Kind of funny.
Happy birthday, Debra. Hope you are doing what you really love to do today.

Good morning, all.
For entertainment purposes, I thought I would refill the hummingbird feeders while wearing a red shirt.

Happy early birthday, Debra. What kind of cake will there be?
If I’m good, I’ll have a busy day taking down the cat tree and putting together the new vacuum cleaner.
Hex tool I found in the junk drawer was too small so it wasn’t the one that came with the cat tree.

That’s what happens to me at Target. It’s why I hardly ever go there anymore. 🙂

Walmart prices are good, but you’re right, Janice, it’s chaotic in terms of the merchandise and how it’s set up/out.
Love Target, but I always buy more than I intend. 😦

Happy Birthday, Deborah!
Many years ago the pastor’s wife shared this hymn on a birthday card.
O happy day that fixed my choice
Here is the chorus;
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
He taught me how to watch and pray,
And live rejoicing every day;
Happy day, happy day,
When Jesus washed my sins away!
