Good Tuesday morning! Wishing you all a productive day. We have skills fair this morning. I have requested that my orientees be allowed to flex for 2 hrs tonight. It will be a long day.
Sorry I have been missing.
We closed on the new house Friday. It was a challenge. I had to send information over and over and Thursday at 4:30 everyone realized the insurance had not been bound. We were supposed to close at 10am. We closed at noon.
The movers were an hour late Saturday. They couldn’t get everything on the truck so Mr. P and his Baby Boy (the source of Little Miss) and I loaded boxes in their trucks and my car. We did the same thing all day Sunday. They are back at it again today.
Yes! I know the answer to this problem. We HAVE TOO MUCH STUFF!!!!
This is AFTER I hauled carload after carload to Goodwill and Ecumenical Ministries and Mr P sold the kitchen table, his mother’s china cabinet, and two other tables that had belonged to her.
I haven’t been in the office since week before last. I did have a CE class yesterday for my Alabama agents and stopped by the office. Today I am home with Little Miss so Papa and her father can go finish what needs to be done.
The cleaning people couldn’t clean yesterday and the tenants want to move in Thursday. Last night the head of the rental management company sounded a little stern on the phone with Mr. P so there was a threat of firing them(to me). I had to tel P that the agent was doing his job and I would have been the same way. I asked him this morning to please leave his “attitude” here and not embarrass me. I have known the rental management guy for about 30 years. To the point that when Mr. P gave me the engagement ring, I was at a realtor function and RM grabbed my hand and asked me, “WHAT have you done! I have your ring in the truck!” He was joking.
Also, I don’t have my usual c ast of characters to help me get this house settled.
There is going to be a major culling of even more stuff going forward…
Thank you for reading this far. I just had to get it all out of my head.
Nice to hear you got it done, Kim. Many blessings in your new home. Kudos to Mr. K for letting that furniture go. That can be difficult to do.
We left early for the DMV, having seen lines incredibly long and hearing horror stories about long waits, only to find I didn’t have to wait, whatsoever. I am not complaining.
My family went to the river yesterday. I stayed home and cooked. Guys, I had 20 people for dinner, all of my family. A simple meal for hungry folks. Haystack dip so they had something to eat as they came in the door. Then chicken in a basket, sourdough French bread rounds, with salad with root beer floats for dessert.
Really my first company
It is all out. The rental guy sent his “trash out” crew. I got everything of of the refrigerator.
Little Miss “conned” me this morning. She asked me if I knew her favorite store in FHope. So we went. She got a stuffed animal and this is what I am most proud of….She wanted to go to Mr. Gene’s Beans…so we did and she had Dutch Chocolate ice cream for breakfast.
Kim, sounds like every move I’ve ever made (though only the last one involved actually “buying” a house). But either way:
Movers = always late
Stuff = always too much despite weeks of carefully packing (and the necessities still manage to get lost in the actual transition)
Mood = continual waves of tears and panic and ‘losing it’ (stuff and my mind)
Weather = always way too hot …
And = sheer sweaty exhaustion and collapse on the other side
I hardly had anything to move into this house when I bought it. Now we have way too much but I keep moving things out on a regular basis. My car trunk is full of things to give away. I just can’t drive it to where it needs to go. So.I.Wait. Hopefully I will soon have a designated driver😃
Janice, then you & designated driver can go and really get-down and party after dropping it all off.
I have a bag of clothes in the Jeep to drop into the bin at the shopping center, but keep forgetting every time I go there.
I really miss the pick-up service the Salvation Army had for several years; it was suspended during the pandemic and supposedly is coming back online someday, but doesn’t seem to be available yet.
We had raspberry vines when we lived in CT. I was surprised they would grow at the edge of the woods where previous tenants had planted them. They were so delicious, but had a short season. I am considering planting blueberries here.
Oh, I had blueberry bushes before. They were so good.
I have gotten a little work done today. I teach tomorrow. I need to warn the Man of the House not to buy anything tomorrow when I am not with him. Yesterday we seemed to have gotten a cabinet to go over the toilet ,a new drill, and a shower caddy to hang on the shower head.
Little Miss is napping now. While we were out having ice cream for breakfast, I bought her 6 bath bombs. So cute. They have cartons and you can pick them out and get a variety. After that she managed to get a stuffed animal out of me. It’s a little chick. As we got in the car she said, “Mimi, I got 7 things today.” I’m so proud. BG would have just said 2 since the bath bombs are in 1 carton.
It seems that today was trash day here. Hmmm…It sure would have been nice to have a trash can to put everything out. So far I have met 3 neighbors. I have found that a good number of the males in the neighborhood have Mustangs–the kind with the loud engine. We have tags from various states – Texas, Maryland, and South Carolina. Jin and I met one neighbor yesterday who had a dog named Zoey. They were working on heeling.
Jin is confused. If she can, she runs out of the house through the garage. Today I had her on her leash and she tried to get in the car. I think she wants to go “home”. Lulabelle has met the neighbor dogs through the fence. They are not well behaved and when the barking and growling start Lou has to come inside. Who wants to listen to that noise?
I like berries. When we moved here, there was a nice stand next to the house. When we put in a foundation, second son dug them up and moved them out by the deer fence. They thrived until a few years ago when the neighbor farmer had his fields sprayed and we got some over spray. Lost almost all of the raspberries (and very nearly lost the Persian walnut). I moved the one remaking raspberry plant to a raised bed and it is filling in nicely. A friend in town dug up some strays from an alley in town and those are also doing great.
Also at the time of the new foundation, son moved a blackberry to the fence line. It is doing great and we now have an abundance of blackberries. I think of Chas and his blackberry wars whenever I work around them.
I planted honey berries (doing great), blueberries (doing well), serviceberries ( one is very strong, the other is not), gooseberries (a couple of pies this year. And we have strawberries, currants, and elderberries. Did I mention the best part of summer is berries?

Your weekend sounds like fun, Peter.
We will have a very hot few days, plus smoke. I am not looking forward to the heat.

Good morning!
Would that header be blackberries before they’re ready to put in a cobbler? My family went on hunts for those when I was a child. Good memories.
Kim, you have been going through so much in more ways than one. God is seeing you through step by step. So glad you will be closer to family.
Glad to see you here, Rkessler. I have been wondering about Jessica.
It’s my Bible study group day. Some are finally back in town.

I thought raspberries grew in stores and blackberries on the vine like they do in Atlanta!😃

My raspberries grow at Sprouts, handily in nice little plastic containers.

I have a blueherry bush that is several inches high. Every year something cuts it down. It must have a fabulous root system after about three years.
