  1. Beautiful capture of our Lord’s amazing creation! It’s as though that butterfly is posing for his closeup!!

It is going to be a very warm week around here and niece and her husband arrive this afternoon. They will be here until Friday. I am on call for jury duty today…I have to call at 11:30 to see if I need to be downtown by 12:30!! It would take me that much time to get there and find a parking place…crazy government expectations 🥴
I must get this place cleaned up and figure out what to prepare for dinner…

  2. Good morning! It will be the coolest day this week here so I have to get out there and mow though I’d prefer another day. PT’s later today. Exercise overload, but I am, thankfully, up for it! God willing and the Creek don’t rise.

Garbage truck is picking up right on schedule. Thankful for that Monday morning blessing!

  3. Good morning all, a beautiful day in the neighborhood here. I got the small folk up at five forty five so their mommy could pick them up at six but she did not arrive until six thirty. We had time to water strawberries and asparagus and kick a can down the road and chop firewood.

  4. How frustrating to not be able to rely on her, mumsee. Sad for the children.

That jury expectation seems a bit much for those out further. Also, it lessens the ability to make any other plans, especially for those who need childcare or adult care for family members. Unless they pay you whether you go or not? We had to call at the beginning of the week, I believe. We might get other instructions, but not after the morning hours.

  5. Well I called at 11:30 and was told my obligation was fulfilled for the next year. They will not pay a juror unless they serve on a jury for three or more days. They then tell the juror that it is up to their employer if they want to pay them their regular wage while serving . Then you hear the “it’s your civic duty” speech….

  6. Drayage electric truck charging station opened today at the port. I was there, photographer took some very good photos.

    Warm day out there.

I was caught in a couple long container truck queues on the way there and back out again. Drivers kindly motioned me over to free passing lanes. Nice guys, hard workers who don’t make very much.

Just got the story turned in.

I requested another delay/extension on my jury duty call from earlier this month. I used to always be glad to serve and even enjoyed it, but life seems so much more complicated and busy right now.

I have cataract surgeries scheduled for September and October with the new 15-year-old eye doctor/surgeon.

  7. This is going to be a hot week. Since the low temps are projected to be in the upper 70s I finally put he a/c unit in the bedroom window. Otherwise I won’t get any sleep until next week!

This weekend we’re taking the oldest 5 grandchildren for a couple of days. Looking forward to taking them to the Lincoln Museum in Spring, IL Friday and a cave in the Ozarks Saturday. Believe it or not, Springfield is closer to us than Central MO by about a 30 minute drive.

  8. Hummingbird feeders refilled, my day’s allotment of firewood split, laundry going, breakfast fixed, time to sit for the rest of the day.
