Prayer Requests 7-20-23

It’s Thursday, so please remember to pray for Jo and the people of PNG.

Anyone else have something to share

Psalm 9

A psalm of David.

I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
    I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
    I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.

My enemies turn back;
    they stumble and perish before you.
For you have upheld my right and my cause,
    sitting enthroned as the righteous judge.
You have rebuked the nations and destroyed the wicked;
    you have blotted out their name for ever and ever.
Endless ruin has overtaken my enemies,
    you have uprooted their cities;
    even the memory of them has perished.

The Lord reigns forever;
    he has established his throne for judgment.
He rules the world in righteousness
    and judges the peoples with equity.
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
    a stronghold in times of trouble.
10 Those who know your name trust in you,
    for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

11 Sing the praises of the Lord, enthroned in Zion;
    proclaim among the nations what he has done.
12 For he who avenges blood remembers;
    he does not ignore the cries of the afflicted.

13 Lord, see how my enemies persecute me!
    Have mercy and lift me up from the gates of death,
14 that I may declare your praises
    in the gates of Daughter Zion,
    and there rejoice in your salvation.

15 The nations have fallen into the pit they have dug;
    their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
16 The Lord is known by his acts of justice;
    the wicked are ensnared by the work of their hands.
17 The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
    all the nations that forget God.
18 But God will never forget the needy;
    the hope of the afflicted will never perish.

19 Arise, Lord, do not let mortals triumph;
    let the nations be judged in your presence.
20 Strike them with terror, Lord;
    let the nations know they are only mortal.

  1. Nightingale will be leaving in the very early morning hours for the airport for her trip to Mexico, to the wedding. She doubts that she will get any sleep tonight, since she has to get up in the middle of the night.

    Please pray for safety for her in her traveling, and while she is there. (They will be staying on the resort, which is generally a safe place, but still. . .)

    Also please pray for safety for Boy and me, and that he will be cooperative with me while his mom (the tough one) is gone. Another concern is that X may pick this time to make trouble. Nightingale has not told his parents that she will be gone, but Boy may spill the beans when he sees them for a visit tomorrow.

  2. Well, X has stirred up trouble again, but it is not related to Nightingale going away (which he doesn’t know about). Today was a court date that had been scheduled a while ago. You may remember (if I mentioned it here?) that his latest complaint is not having enough time with Boy, and asking for a 24-hour visitation without supervision.

    As it is now, Nightingale has sole custody, and it is up to her discretion if he has any visitation at all. She allows him a two-hour visit once a week, with supervision by his parents. Even then, he often leaves early.

    Anyway, in his effort today to have unsupervised visitation, he brought allegations against his parents of drug and alcohol abuse. (He makes these accusations from time to time, but there has been no proof about them. Then time goes on, and he doesn’t mention it again, until the next time he wants to stir up trouble.) He figured that he would be granted unsupervised visitation.

    Instead, until an investigation is completed, not only can Grandma and Grampa not see Boy, but X cannot see him, either. He shot himself in the foot with this brilliant move. And of course, Boy is hurt by all of this as well. 😦

  3. And on our side, son in law told daughter yesterday that his mom would pick up the children. She refused so I went in to collect the children from her to hand over to their grandma. My dad decided to come along so I set him in the shade by the store with son and other grandma. Youngest daughter and I walked the block to the hotel only to find daughter in law coming from her house with the two children. Evidently, she had them from eleven this morning so there was really no need for all the drama! We walked back to the other grandma and she will have them with daddy for the next three and a half days.

    Thank You, God!
