Prayer Requests 7-19-23

It’s Wednesday, so please remember to pray for Joanne and The Gambia.

Anyone else have something to share?

Psalm 8

A psalm of David.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

   You have set your glory
    in the heavens.
Through the praise of children and infants
you have established a stronghold against your enemies,
to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens,
the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars,
which you have set in place,
what is mankind that you are mindful of them,
human beings that you care for them?

You have made them a little lower than the angels
and crowned them with glory and honor.
You made them rulers over the works of your hands;
you put everything under their feet:
all flocks and herds,
and the animals of the wild,
the birds in the sky,
and the fish in the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.

Lord, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

  1. Mr. P has been having trouble sleeping. That means that I have had trouble sleeping and have had to jump in and do things when he can’t. This move is taking its toll on us. I don’t know how we have gotten so much stuff. We have managed to sell some of it…not in any way what it is probably worth, but the fact that someone will give US a couple of hundred dollars to haul off what we no longer want isn’t a bad deal.
Anyway we could use prayer to get through the next several days. We have hired movers but have had to pay most everything ourselves. There is a fine line in packing everything and still being able to “live” with just the things that aren’t packed.
This time I won’t have the luxury of M & L coming to arrange my kitchen and furniture.

  2. Prayers, Kim, for you and Mr. P getting it all sorted out, feeling God’s peace and rest, and not over working or stressing. May you feel God’s strength infuse you when you feel weak. May you be able to count any perceived losses as gain as less stuff makes more room for God♡

One of my Bible study ladies, a widow, is moving now, too, in with her mom to care for her. It should be easy, across the street, but . . . the stuff! Please pray for her, too.

  3. Praying.

And prayer for husband as he begins yet another “help somebody move across the country” adventure. I drove him to town to meet the friend and friend’s ten year old son and hit the road. Friend’s wife left Monday with friend’s brother and wife and the other haul. Wisdom and patience.

As you know, husband just returned last night from helping daughter and his infusion. We got to bed about ten, after his quick unpacking and repacking. At about one he got a call from the sheriff dept that twenty one was there and talking suicide. We had to be up in four hours to take him to town. Fortunately, God had arranged for her bio brother to be in town so we called and woke him up and asked him to head over to the sheriff to handle it. He did and at two thirty texted that she was safely back in her hotel room. She had been forgetting her meds. So prayer for her, as well, and energy for husband and son and me.

Part of God’s Word yesterday was to not grow weary in doing good. Which means to me that He will provide the needed energy to accomplish His plans.

  4. Thanking the Lord for the new vehicle we bought yesterday. We needed a new truck and wanted a four-wheel drive. Our old truck was 22 years old and a two-wheel drive. We got our money’s worth out of it for sure. We probably did not get as much from the dealer for it (which is why we never used to trade in a vehicle) but we don’t have to deal with trying to sell it.

I am out of fresh fruit today, which is a rarity. I was thinking how blessed we are to have fresh fruit at our fingertips all year long! Oh, the things we take for granted.

  5. “I don’t know how we have gotten so much stuff” — said all of us who ever move, short- or long-distance, it’s pretty much the same ordeal. All y moves have felt disastrous, from lost keys to late-arriving movers to having to stuff the last of it into trash bags to stuff the car; all usually in some kind of dreadful heat wave. Prayers, Kim. And for Idaho M.

Congratulations Kathaleena. Can you or someone tell me about the “4×4” service, my Jeep tells me it needs one. Just a fluid change of some kind? I’ve been putting it off. Is that bad? Probably, I know.

  6. And serious prayers for our nation right now, I’ve never seen a period like this in my (now rather long) lifetime that’s witnessed the chaos of the mid- to late 1960s and early 1970s.

Lord, have mercy. Bring us out of this period without violence and provide wise leaders who can inspire and lead us all forward as “one nation, under God.” But whatever comes, let us acknowledge your will is being done for an end we may not be able to grasp. Keep your people faithful to thyself, above any and all others.

  7. But he did not see the word service. Now he says it means take it to a dealer and bring your wallet. Or borrow his OB reader.

I have no idea what obstetrics has to do with jeeps.

  8. Mumsee, i remain in awe at all God accomplishes through you and Mike. Prayers for you two as y’all continue to navigate so many river rapids that at times would sweep people away except that the Calmer of storms and waters is with y’all.

  9. He also says it could just be time to change the lubricant in the transfer case. It would give a warning light if the recommended change mileage has been exceeded.

  10. Prayer for son in law. His mom’s sister adopted him after his mom died when he was very young. They had a falling out when daughter got involved. She has apologized and he and she are trying to rebuild their relationship. She has been in the area for a week, spending time with him and the children when he has them. Since my husband is out of town, the plan was for grandma to pick them up. Daughter is refusing so I will go pick them up. Very frustrating to him as he does not put roadblocks in her way as she keeps throwing up for him. He wants to follow the Lord and is getting lots of opportunity to practice patience and grace. But it is hard.
