  1. Good morning! Thanks for explaining . . . I would otherwise be at a loss in knowing. A scratch my head and squint my eyes to no avail kind of picture. Wow! A mutant ninja carp😳

I was thinking of Chas a lot yesterday.

  2. As I have been cleaning out and packing things, I have found several envelopes from when he sent me various things. Once he sent money to help another Charlie here in my town. You may remember the man that the people of FHope bought the motorized wheel chair. Chas sent a check to help pay for it from “One Charlie to another”. He sent another check once and asked me to pass it on to someone else to help.
He was such a good man.

  3. Good mornin, all. Another beautiful day here.

When son arrived yesterday, I asked where his dog was. He left it in town with other son. As we were chatting, we were getting texts from other son’s wife that his dog was causing problems. I told him he could put his dog in the big run with son in law’s dog. Turns out other son, who does not believe in fixing his dogs, had one in heat and one unfixed mastiff boy. So the mastiff was being protective of his turf.

Son brought his dog to the run. We had been talking on the deck for about five minutes when we heard his dog barking from the front yard. He is some sort of Rottweiler mix. He had broken open the gate and released the Australian shepherd who went straight to the free ranging chickens. He called the momma hen, leaving two small chicks. They are feathered so should be okay. Hopefully another hen will take them on. No idea how many more he got. Both dogs were rounded up. Aussie was returned to the run, rottie stayed ion his leash.

    And so it goes.

  4. Storms here today. Husband’s group was supposed to play outdoors, but will, obviously, be inside a VFW now. Hopefully, there will be no hail to damage vehicles. Also hoping for breaks in the rain to haul equipment. That is the biggest chore of the job and one reason I go with my husband.

  5. Sunshine here, expecting 89 or 90 today. The house is still cooling off at night so no need yet for the fancy dancy new ac unit. Though my dad has suggested the heater would be welcome…

  6. Queue the Jaws theme!

Have I mentioned I have cataract surgery scheduled in September-October? Yesterday one of our harbor commissioners and I were chatting before the waterfront groundbreaking ceremony started and he said, “Oh, look at the sea lion.” (We have a gazillion sea lions in the port.)

    I looked, couldn’t see it.

    Where?

“Right there. see? His head just came up.”

    Where?

    “Right there.”

    Nope. Not seeing it.

    Sheesh.

    It’s come to this.

    _______________

I’ve had to manage a few dog scuffles in my day, never pleasant and I was bit at least once — probably twice — but the one time (two females, both fixed, but they just weren’t going to get along) send me to the doctor.

This morning I called out Good morning, Cowboy. I mean Tess.

    I mean ABBY.

    But it is Wednesday.

    ____________

Kim, what a wonderful story about Chas. I’m not at all surprised, figured he did things like that on the QT.

    I miss him.

He helped keep us grounded, I think.

  7. And that should have read “CUE the Jaws theme.” lol

That was such a great movie, as someone said it included horror, thrills, suspense — and a fair amount of humor.

    And a great score.

  8. I don’t believe I ever watched Jaws. But I was sure there was an enormous shark looming behind me in the open ocean while I was scuba diving down a cliff to one hundred feet off of Okinawa.

  9. I have two packs of unopened Silvadene cream. It was given to me by the overseeing radiologist to treat any burns that might show up after I finished radiation. It is a sulfur cream and I told the doc I am allergic to sulfur but she said to try a little on an unaffected area to see if I got a reaction. I never tried it as Neosporin was the tried and tested alternative. So what should I do with the tubes of medicine? I have all these supplies left from our medical situations last year and I want to find good homes for them.

  10. I was honored to be Chas’ “helper” a couple of times. At first I felt funny about it, because the checks were made to me with the request to get it where it needed to go. I never wanted anyone to think I was swindling an old man over the internet. When I connected with Linda and told her that he had done some of these things, she said it sounded just like him. As I have found the cards and letters I have snapped a photo and sent it to her.

  11. Didn’t even get on here yesterday. a busy day.
I watched the littles and took them to play pooh sticks. Then we went to the library for lunch and they were even giving out tooth brushes and other stuff for the kids.
After dropping them off at 2, I went by my friends on the way home to give her a birthday gift. Then I took her granddaughter with me to the pool. This time I spent an hour in the pool and was so tired later.
We waited around as there was an ice cream social at 5:30. I took her home after ice cream.

I was so tired that I just got into pajamas. I took a nap as I just ached. My family had all gone to the river. At 8:20 I had a ping on my phone with a message saying my daughter had just come in the gate to see me. What a blessing that you get an automatic text.
I had time to get dressed and meet them outside as they drove up.
They stayed until after ten. I made them quesadillas and offered all of my cold drinks. This was the Colorado group.
God was good to give me that rest after the pool. I plan on going back today.

  12. You know what a full time job is????
It’s providing all of the last minute stuff the mortgage company suddenly needs two days before closing.

I have a new appreciation for what buyers go through that up until now I have easily breezed through.
As I have often said…agents need to buy a house every now and then so they are sympathetic.

  13. After dealing with one of those government lender agencies our realtor swore she’d never get involved in one of those sales again. Our buyer was using the agency and every time we turned around it wanted something else. They really nitpicked about our 120 year old house. I’m glad we were to the point that we didn’t need any government agency to help us buy this house.

And I never saw Jaws either.

  14. P’cola has 5 military bases withing 30-40 miles of it. Most local lenders are fine. This is dealer with the home builders mortgage company.
Usually I am fine with it because they are protecting the veteran. This time because I am self employeed the want everything but a blood sample and a note from my first grade teacher.

  15. Star Wars didn’t do much for me, for some reason. Oh, I enjoyed it but was never motivated to watch too many of the ones that followed.

Our Girl Scout troop saw Sound of Music up in Hollywood when it first came out.

And the music made up the bulk of what we sang throughout elementary school-junior high-high school chorus.

  16. We watched sound of music in Los Angeles with our California cousins about then but I don’t know where.

I enjoyed the first three but had no interest in the rest.

Oh, and we watched Bambi but maybe in Moscow.

  17. Thank you for the article, Michelle. I had no idea what that was about.

It was a good time at the VFW for the music group. It stormed while there, but we were able to get the equipment in and out between rain. There was a beautiful rainbow when we came out.
