  1. Good morning! Have a Fantastic Friday, Y’all. It has warmed up here.

Thanks to all who wished Wes a Happy Birthday. He is traveling so we did not get to celebrate with him. I heard a rumor that he was spotted in a chocolate factory and they gave him more samples than he coild possibly eat😀🤣

  2. Oh, yum, and happy belated birthday to Wes.

Currents also sound yummy. When I was a small child, a neighbor had a bush, so I was able to taste them. As an adult, with children of my own, I was visiting an aunt who was draining current juice through an old, clean pillowcase for jelly. I would bet it was delicious. I used her idea when making my own jelly later on. She had fashioned a hook to hang the pillowcase from her upper cabinets. It makes for a beautiful, clear jelly.

  3. The varieties of jellies available these days is amazing. I remember being given a pepper jelly from a friend years ago. She liked to eat it on crackers with cream cheese. Do any of you have a favorite jelly or heard of one really different?

  4. Good morning, all. A beautiful day here. Expecting a warm up as we head back into the nineties this weekend. I checked a couple of times but did not see the aurora borealis. But I did see the beautiful night sky.

  5. Jellies: I never really tried jelly before being well into my grown up years, other than grape jelly. But I did make crab apple jelly a few times. The first time it tasted great, in subsequent years it has been rather blah. I am not good at it, maybe I should practice.

I have enjoyed various jams: strawberry, blackberry, Mario berry, huckleberry but, again, I don’t make them.

  6. Oh, I remember enjoying pepper jelly with cream cheese on saltines. I wonder how many pounds I put on during that phase?

A man in the Methodist church I attended way back made blueberry lime jam.

We enjoy apple jelly biscuits occasionally here. Strawberry jam has always been my favorite on buttered toast.

I also enjoyed an orange marmalade dish with onions, peppers, soy sauce with either shrimp or chicken over rice back when I ate more sweets.

  7. Well, my friend the bartender had to ask my alcoholic son to leave the bar last night. But he managed to call the owner of the hotel and bar at one Colorado time to rant and rave. Sounds like he will be banned from the bar now.

  8. Hmmm. Mr. P makes popovers on Sundays. He has finally stumbled upon Wondra Flour so they are again doing as they used to. We have them with butter and either strawberry or raspberry jam. Raspberry is my chosen jam. I cannot do grape juice or jelly. yecchhh.
We have our first walk through on the new house today at 2:30. This is where we nitpick the house and they go back and fix things.
I am excited. I also am really stressed. You would think my husband won the lottery getting to move back to Pensacola. My house is a wreck. There are packed, half packed, and broken down moving boxes everywhere. His idea and my idea of packing are at opposite ends of the spectrum. He opened several drawers yesterday and just tossed all the plastic storage containers in a big box, then send me a text message telling me that once we got to the new house we would be throwing some away that we had too many.
    1. If we have too many, why not throw them away here rather than pay for someone to move them?
    2. When I took everything out of the box, neatly stacked them, and put them back in the box closed and we don’t have too many.

Now, you do have to remember that he is the man that took a wire clothes hanger out of the trash can a month or so ago because you “needed” one at times. Like when the sink stops up. “Tell me one time the sink has stopped up since we have been here”.
Oh, he is a treat! His boys owe me. I haven’t taken my grandmother’s frying pan to him yet.

  9. Ok. If you click on the link , then on the photos, you should be able to scroll through and see the house. Obviously it is set up as the model. That isn’t what my furniture looks like.

  10. Cute bathroom. 🙂

It’s around 80 now on the coast, will be for the next week ahead as well. We’re finally getting ‘summer’ weather, not my favorite, but there it is. It’s not hot in an overbearing way where I am, but it has forced me to shed the sweatshirt, turn on all available fans and open the side living room windows for coastal breezes that are still coming our way in the late afternoon and evenings.

  11. And our humidity currently (at about 11:30 a.m.) is at 64%, way high for us, so I guess that’s why it feels warmer. I hate humidity. One of the things California still has going for it in a huge way, very little humidity (typically).

  12. My leg is feeling so much better today and it is so much easier to walk. That sitting on an ice pack on the exact spot of the inflammation seems to have made a difference.
    I’m grateful.

  13. Glad to hear that, Jo!

As for me, I am feeling very grateful that my state health insurance has been renewed. The process always makes me nervous, because it will look for a little while as if I am no longer eligible, and then when all the info is finally put in, they tell me that I am once again eligible for it. What a relief!

  14. The sun is shining today!
Early morning as BIL’s flight home was at 7…everyone was up at 3…😳 When the guys were heading out at 4 this morning mama deer and her twin fawns walked right in front of the car at the end of our drive. Out for an early morning snack I suppose! 🦌 💐

Setting everything back to order then next week niece arrives with her husband for 5 days.

I like apricot preserves and sometimes blackberry jam. Not so much a jelly person 😊

  15. And the big box from Chewy dot com that arrived on my porch today included one of the broth packages (Salmon! See? Fishing … ) that was damaged and partially leaking. So I took photos, will see if they can just replace it.

Luckily, nothing else got wet, other than the invoice. The leak was small, but cap on the top had come off and bottom was also coming apart.

  16. Oh, and good friend just got back from a visit to Sacramento lawmakers with the Sierra Club (her husband’s a loyal member) to advocate for the salmon on Native American lands.

    See??

    I’m so all-about fishing.

  17. Jellies….

My buddy Frank from church makes a tasty strawberry jalapeno jelly. Sweet, with a kick.

It’s good on crackers, but I once used it to glaze chicken breasts at our Fantasy Football Draft Picnic, and it was fabulous.
