  1. Good morning, everyone! All is well here. And thank you all for your prayers and concern over the bee situation. The bees seem to have vacated. A good number of them chose the ‘alternative lodgings’ we provided. Time will tell if there are any left in the ground. The swelling in Cyrus’ hand looks like it is slowly going down. The stings on his legs and ankles left some pretty big blisters this morning (and the stings happened Saturday!) They were definitely not normal bees, and we will be on the lookout for more.

  2. We have lots of pollinators in the front garden not far from this particular ground nest. There are constantly bumble bees and carpenter bees flying around us, even wasps. None of them have ever stung us. I actually like the bumble bees and carpenter bees. They’re curious and not aggressive at all. I’ve had them come right up to my face and just hover like they’re saying hello. This ground nest is not normal bees.

  3. Bees. We have a lot of clover, I prefer it to grass in my yard, so we have a lot of bees. Generally a lot of honeybees but this year, not so much. But a lot of bumbles of various sizes, and other bees. I don’t enjoy wasps or hornets.

  4. It is good to hear, Debra, especially that Cyrus is recovering. Sounds horrible.

My husband was just telling the hummingbird, frantically flapping its wings, that he has it all under control and the feeder will be back soon. I told him that is probably how God thinks when we are frantically flapping our wings about whatever.

  5. I have been busy searching out video training on getting a dent out of a car using a suction cup like a toilet plunger. We have son’s car while he travels and my friend suggested taking it to a shop to surprise him with its repair when he returns home. Art remembered seeing such dents may be repaired using a plunger. I just don’t want to make it worse . . . you know how docgors took that oath in the olden days that the first course of action was to do no harm.

Son dented it when unpacking luggage or something from his car. Dents happen!

  6. Morning!
It is warmish out this morning and we have been up since 5.
Pip has been a Pip since her favorite human has been gone. She is stubborn and has made it known I am no fun! I threw the chuck it for her this morning while holding my coffee in one hand and the chuck it in the other. I hit the trees a lot with the launched ball. This morning I hit the closest tree to me launching the ball right back at ME!!! Ball slamming into my shoulder and coffee splashing all over my clothes. You would think Pip would think that to be great fun…nope she refused to fetch the ball and made her way to the porch…she was over it! 😂☕️

  7. Sis in law has an expensive dog. After getting the dog from the shelter, her dog of unknown origins was a lot of fun, loved playing fetch with the chuck at the park. The dog would throw herself into the game with fervor. Until she wrapped herself around a tree at full speed after launching to grab it out of the air. She broke her leg rather significantly. They still play but with more attention to surroundings.

  8. Oh, poor shelter dog; poor sister-in-law!

And ouch, those bee stings sound nasty.

    “Alternative lodgings.” Hmm.

I’m going to have to return to the slow-mo methods to get Abby in the car, I’ve decided. Took her to the dog park Saturday, husband of a couple there I’d been talking to agreed to lift her into the car when it was time to leave. But her body language told me she’s not adapting to that, she tried bolting (I had her unleash); he very expertly just “whooshed” her up in his arms with no drama and set her in the car; but just watching her reactions (this was the second time I’ve had her put in the car by humans) I think it may be making her more stressed, not less.

So. Back to high-end treats with me sitting in the backseat and trying to (again) get her accustomed to the car. I’ve read this could take months and it’s important to do it daily. Sigh.

  9. I am going through my pink folder that has piles of papers related to surgery, radiation, exercises, medicare, etc. I can’t believe in a few months it will be a year since my surgery. Of course I have plenty of papers to keep, too, but recycling bin for many.😀

The sewer system truck is cleaning from the manhole in front of our house. I started smelling something like sulfur a few minutes ago and remember getting that notice some years back that we might get some gasses/smoke in our homes from work they were doing. Of course it made me think of Nazi Germany.😳

  10. After turning my story in today (does homeowners insurance cover you when your house falls off a cliff?) I got the Frontline tube out to treat Abby for fleas (it’s been a little over a month and she’s really scratching).

I take two steps toward her, the tube hidden, and me talking nice and she bolts out the back door.

Honestly, that dog has a sixth sense when something new or different is about to happen to her.

  11. The day with the littles went well, but was exhausting.
We began at a park and I let them stay until they were ready to leave.
Then I drove them a half hour to another town to have chick fil a for lunch. as chicken strips are there favorite. I let them play in the playground there until they were ready to go. Then A felt it would be a good idea to see about a birthday gift at Home Depot which was just up the hill. Boy howdy, he just walked in with his sister following and went through the store, twice. I could barely keep up So I got him in the garden center and then we looked there. We found a small rake that came with something to rake the leaves into so you could easily put them into something. He finally decided on that.
Then a forty minute drive to my house for an hour I let them watch sheep dog show. Then we all went to the pool together. A kept jumping in and drenching me. I was glad that I had my hat on. But they were both getting more comfortable in the water and we were all bonding so it was good.

Finally took them to the store at 5 as mom was ready to go home. I guess swim lessons begin tomorrow.

  12. okay, I am sitting here with a sense of dread in my stomach. I realize that I have made a big mistake and will have to ask my children for forgiveness.

For years I have wanted to go to the church family camp as that is where you get to know folks and I have had trouble with that this year. So I signed up and told all of my children that I was going, Friday to Monday.

As we were getting the kids things together and both girls and another grand were there, I asked the youngest when her brother was coming from Portland. Turns out that he is coming the weekend I am going to camp and that is when they are really having a family reunion. I had not realized that that Sunday is A’s birthday with a family party,

So now it is like I am abandoning my family. I had just never put the dates together and life has been busy and confusing.

I will have to call and cancel my family camp plans and apologize to my children.

The church is still having a picnic and baptism on Saturday that I can go to or not, depending on family plans.
